KaitUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.1.1
by: Kaitain1977 [More]

The only resolution that is supported is 1920x1080. Most other resolutions should still work, but I can't guarantee it. You may have to adjust the layout a bit yourself.

As WeakAuras is part of the UI upload, back up / export your own WAs before installing.

KaitUI is beer-powered. If it runs out of beer, it stops working.

Cheers!

Step 1

Backup your current UI. Do this by opening your WoW folder and moving the Fonts, Interface and WTF folder to a safe place elsewhere on your hard drive. If things go wrong later, put these folders back into your WoW folder and all will be as it was.

Step 2

Unzip the download and move the Fonts, Interface and WTF folder into your WoW folder

Step 3

Inside the WTF folder you will find folders that are name WTF > Account > ACCOUNTNAME > SavedVariables. Rename the folder called ACCOUNTNAME to be whatever your account name is. If you are unsure what to name it, check the folders that you backed up in Step 1.

Step 3.5

Go to https://www.tukui.org/download.php?ui=elvui and download ElvUI. Once you've unzipped the download, put the two folders into your Interface>Addons folder.

Step 4

Start WoW. On the character selection screen, click the Addons button in the bottom left, then in the top right of the panel that pops up

Make sure that Load out of date AddOns is checked.

Make sure ALL addons in the list are enabled

Step 5

Once you are in the game, ElvUI will be propting you with instalation stuff.

Click SKIP PROCESS

Step 6

Once Elv has reloadui your UI, you might need to use the Raid Frame Menu (second from right of the footer buttons) to change raid frames to one of the presets

Also -
I just found a small issue with the buffs - If when targeting yourself the buff and debuffs top left and top right aren't symmetrical, go to ElvUI (/elvui) > Buffs & Debuffs, and disable. It will ask you to reloadui.

When using KaitUI, you can safely update these addons:

ElvUI
Raven
WeakAuras2
Plexus
DynamicCam
MoveAnything

+ any others that you add yourself

But do NOT try to update these:

kgPanels
Plexus Layouts
SharedMedia
KaitMedia

NOTES

- Open WeakAuras with /wa for now (not the menu).
Opening WeakAuras config with the menu first causes it to appear with items missing from the aura list. Collapse/uncollapse something in the list and it will immediately fix it. After the config has been opening once it should be fine all subsequent times.

- there are some hidden bars (including bar1) to the right of the main action bar. These are bars for keybinds. The main visible bar is for showing cooldowns. The assumption is that you know what your keybinds are.

- the pet bar and class power bars kind of ruin the elegance of the player frame area. I personally will be using weakauras to show them in a more contextual way, but I thought I'd leave the Elv versions visible as default in case anyone got confused.

- The 3D model of you character on the Spec/Talents screen is positioned as if your character is a female night elf. For some other races, specifically small races, your player model might be way off. I'll make a tutorial on how to fix that soon, but basically you have to exlude your race from loading on the main KaitUI Talents > Player aura, duplicate it and make the new aura only load for your race, then adjust the XYZ display values. Don't use the slider's though, edit the texts, because you have to do it blind. When in WA config, it's not showing you the model right.

Suggested additional addons:

Opie is a wonderfully elegant solution for using things like potions, crafting, etc. I notice a lot of games bind icon wheel interfaces to the C key (like Overwatch), so if you do that with OPie it feels very natural.

Clique Do more with your mouse when healing. Not really necessary if you never heal.

2.1.1 Removed ElvUI files (needs to be downloaded from ElvUI site, because ElvUI).

2.1 Updated for Shadowlands

1.2 - Added a new action Bar below the main bar (this was often requested). Changed the layout so that quest tracking is not back on the right, DPSer raid frames on the left. This was so I could remove the code making the minimap hiding and raid frames interact. My code was buggy and crap, and now it's gone. Hurray! UIscaler addon removed because it seemed to not be working anymore.

1.1 - Updated for patch 6.1. Some addons updated, some TOCs updated, some WeakAuras changes and updates

1.0.2 - Changed scripts in KaitMedia addon and in kgPanels that relate to Grid so that (hopefully) nothing freaks out too badly if you don't have Grid installed (i.e. if you want to use a different raid addon). The popup panels for changing Grid profiles won't do anything for you without Grid, but at least they aren't going to cause errors. Uou need Grid enabled to run /kaitinstall. Install the profiles then switch your raid addon afterwards.

1.0.1 - Updated KaitMedia script to fix a non-English client bug. Updated some kgPanels scripts to fix a non-English client bug. Added Clampy's focus bar WeakAura for hunters. Stopped Party Frames (P) button from causing error when not in a group.

1.0 - Updated some kgPanels scripts. Added some new WeakAuras bars for moonkin and demon warlock. Added some graphics to the KaitMedia folders. Changed the KaitInstaller script. Removed Opie, Bindpad and Dominos, and added Bartender4.

0.7.1 - Updated some kgPanels scripts to cause less lua errors

I can definitely understand why. Well, it looks like - excluding the Legion pre-patch, which is still some ways away - 6.2.2 will be the last notable patch for WoD, so once the problem-causing addons are sorted (mainly Aurora, from what I can see) it should be all good up until Legion arrives.

Don't think I could survive without this amazing UI nowadays, so if it comes to it, I might just grit my teeth and put up with any potential Lua error spam.

Thank you so much for all the work you've put into this UI, though. It's very much appreciated.

Hi Guys,

Yes is sounds like Aurora needs an update. Several of the other addons might need updating too.

The addons that can't be updated are: MoveAnything, SLDataText, Stuf, Stuf_Options, XPBarNone. I edited those to make them work with the original download, so they'd need the edits re-doing if updated.

Having said that, I really really hope those particular addons don't break, because I've actually had to let my WoW subscription expire. Since I had to stop raiding because of RL commitments at the end of Cataclysm I was left with just PvP to entertain me. But PvP in WoD is super bad. I gave PvP years of patience, but it's unplayable now. I stayed subbed through the last 3 or 4 years mainly just to make cool UIs, but despite a few very generous donations, the cost of a sub for years is just too much money.

I intend to re-sub when Legion comes to check things out and maybe make another badass UI (I have a few great plans for it in my head already).

I think, for these issues - which I suspect everyone using this UI will have - we simply have to wait for those addons themselves to update.

Aurora had that issue (the non-showing text) with 6.2, so I'm not surprised that it's managed to break again. At least, I think it's Aurora that's causing the problem... The guy who makes the addon actually plays on my realm, so I'll whisper him about it when he logs on (though I suspect he'll quickly discover it for himself, regardless.)

Greetins, love this UI. Any chance you could explain how to use those two empty slots on visiblity toggles for possible other addons? Skimmed the previous pages but couldnt find an answer. Thanks!

Ye I made a layout change which meant skada couldn't go where it was before anymore.

I made the change because I wanted the raid frames to go on the left (the non-healer frames). This felt more logical to me because now all friendly frames are left of centre and all target/hostile frames are right of centre. Also I wanted to get rid of the raid frame/minimap interaction because my coding for it sucked monkey balls.

The upshot of that was that skada would overlap stuff if on the left like before. Sadly though I couldn't find anywhere I was happy with having it... :-( Let me know if you find anywhere good for it.

Did you try first not having KaitUI installed, running WoW and getting the the resolution you want. Then shutting WoW and moving the config.wtf file to your desktop. Then install Kaitui files. Then move config.wtf back into the correct location and then running WoW?
this did work thank you so much!! sorry for sending so many messages but everything looked really ugly in that small resolution but thank you!

That seems very possible, but KaitUI doesn't have a config.wtf file in it. I removed my own config.wtf before uploading because on a past UI people told me that it messed things up for them (specifically that it made US players' games try to connect to EU servers (i am in the EU)). So that config.wtf you are seeing was generated by your own machine.

As for editting it, I doubt it could kill your game, but do back up before you try anything.

I did try this but it also doesnt work
Ok, sorry to hear that. I can't replicate the bug at my end at all, so I've no idea what to suggest really :-(
