The only resolution that is supported is 1920x1080. Most other resolutions should still work, but I can't guarantee it. You may have to adjust the layout a bit yourself.
As WeakAuras is part of the UI upload, back up / export your own WAs before installing.
KaitUI is beer-powered. If it runs out of beer, it stops working.

Cheers!
Step 1 Backup your current UI. Do this by opening your WoW folder and moving the Fonts, Interface and WTF folder to a safe place elsewhere on your hard drive. If things go wrong later, put these folders back into your WoW folder and all will be as it was. Step 2 Unzip the download and move the Fonts, Interface and WTF folder into your WoW folder Step 3 Inside the WTF folder you will find folders that are name WTF > Account > ACCOUNTNAME > SavedVariables. Rename the folder called ACCOUNTNAME to be whatever your account name is. If you are unsure what to name it, check the folders that you backed up in Step 1. Step 3.5 Go to https://www.tukui.org/download.php?ui=elvui and download ElvUI. Once you've unzipped the download, put the two folders into your Interface>Addons folder. Step 4 Start WoW. On the character selection screen, click the Addons button in the bottom left, then in the top right of the panel that pops up Make sure that Load out of date AddOns is checked. Make sure ALL addons in the list are enabled Step 5 Once you are in the game, ElvUI will be propting you with instalation stuff. Click SKIP PROCESS Step 6 Once Elv has reloadui your UI, you might need to use the Raid Frame Menu (second from right of the footer buttons) to change raid frames to one of the presets Also - I just found a small issue with the buffs - If when targeting yourself the buff and debuffs top left and top right aren't symmetrical, go to ElvUI (/elvui) > Buffs & Debuffs, and disable. It will ask you to reloadui. |
NOTES - Open WeakAuras with /wa for now (not the menu). Opening WeakAuras config with the menu first causes it to appear with items missing from the aura list. Collapse/uncollapse something in the list and it will immediately fix it. After the config has been opening once it should be fine all subsequent times. - there are some hidden bars (including bar1) to the right of the main action bar. These are bars for keybinds. The main visible bar is for showing cooldowns. The assumption is that you know what your keybinds are. - the pet bar and class power bars kind of ruin the elegance of the player frame area. I personally will be using weakauras to show them in a more contextual way, but I thought I'd leave the Elv versions visible as default in case anyone got confused. - The 3D model of you character on the Spec/Talents screen is positioned as if your character is a female night elf. For some other races, specifically small races, your player model might be way off. I'll make a tutorial on how to fix that soon, but basically you have to exlude your race from loading on the main KaitUI Talents > Player aura, duplicate it and make the new aura only load for your race, then adjust the XYZ display values. Don't use the slider's though, edit the texts, because you have to do it blind. When in WA config, it's not showing you the model right. |

Arcane Mage UI
Hi bros, been working on my Arcane mage UI for the past 2 days (yesterday's EU server crash made me lose everything, but for the best, 2.0 is by far better) let me explain how it works !
first i need to point out that I'm not 100 yet, so there is something missing in it but I already though of where it'll go And secondly, as a raider, something was missing imo (raidwide buffs aka fox/BL etc) so i added a non-mage module that I use on all my chars, Kait you might want to dig in that direction 1/ the non-mage module : shows me the buffs i want to track ( here : BL/fox/zerk ...) (mage specific : standing in rune / stealable spell / ice floes active (same icon as fox) 2/ ice floes avaible + CD until next 3/ Evocation CD filling from right to left stopping at the white middle bar ; full flat color when avaible 4/ mana % for dem arcane cycles 5/ lvl 100 Crystal CD (not yet visible => not yet 100) same system as evoc with symetric (orange color) 6/ supernova avaible + CD until next 7/ other CD module (same as other classes) http://pastebin.com/GpcAFb6D arcane mage bar http://pastebin.com/UKM0jryt arcane mage CD http://pastebin.com/h6VJxMmT aura module waiting for your comments, open for advices ( especially from arcane players, i can't see the whole picture until i start raiding) |

Thank you Kait! I just had to set a specialization for some of the WA stuff. You have great UIs, thank you.

What are the lines over the grid frames? I'm a resto druid in that screenshot. Those lines also show up on my priest, but they are between the player and target frame and not ontop of grid. Is there a way to move or hide those lines? This is what the bar looks like with no grid. What is it?

http://pastebin.com/8U5BN1SS Lifebloom i was tracking on the Grid frames, but you might want to use a grid addon for that if you want a countdown for it. |

Is it possible to create bars similar to the CD trackers you have for hunter and such, but for a resto druid? Ideally, I'd like bars for tracking the uptime of Lifebloom, Harmony, Wild Mushroom and Clearcasting... I've been fiddling around with what's already there, pre-made and I'm kinda stuck at how to get it all to work. Any tips? ^^

Re: Grid bugs
I should start by admitting that when I started this UI I had (what I thought was) a cool idea about the minimap hiding interacting with the raid frames... but in retrospect I definitely bit off more than i could chew in terms of the scripts and coding. As such, it's by far the least robust part of the UI. I'm not sure exactly how to fix your problem, but perhaps if I explain the logic of how it works and where the scripts are it might help you fix it. In /kgpanels config > Active Panels > Button 6 > Scripts > OnClick there is quite a large script whose purpose is to (a) hide and show the minimap, and (b) as the minimap hides/shows, to move the raid frames up and down so they always fit snuggly as far up on the right as they can go. The logic in the script is to check firstly if the profile for Grid is one of the 2 DPS/Tank profiles (called "DPS 5/10man" or "DPS 40man"). If not it just skips (b) because it doesn't apply to the healer Grid layouts. There are other scripts on /kgpanels config > Active Panels > Popup R rollover1 > Scripts > OnClick (and rollover2/3/4) to when switching to one of the DPS Grid Profiles first check if the minimap is showing, then decide where to position the Grid frame based on that. There is also a (probably horribly written) script in my addon KaitMedia, in KaitGridProfileSwitcher.lua, that is set to automatically switch from the "DPS 5/10man" profile to the "DPS 40man" profile if the number of raid members exceeds 25 players. I did this because with the larger "DPS 5/10man" grid frame size the layout broke when it overflowed the screen height. Which was bad. It also does switching on the Healer profiles for the same reason. There is an known issue that if you switch Grid profiles (between the DPS profiles) when the minimap is hidden it will treat that minimapless position as the new default for that profile. Then if the minimap gets shown by you zoning or relogging or something (i.e. not by clicking the button), it will overlap the frames. Clicking the minimap show/hide button a few times always fixes that for me. TL;DR Things that will definitely break all this (probably needlessly) complicated crap: - if you fiddle with or remove any of the aforementioned scripts (unless you can code lua :-) ) - if KaitMedia is not enabled - if you rename the grid Profiles - if you install something else that interferes with it in some way unknown to me Sorry about the wall of text, but I hope it helps in some way. As for Elv bags: Yes that might well be scuppering it, but I don't know the ins and outs of Elv well enough to say why. Did you try finding another bag addon that works for you? There are quite a few around.

Grid bugs
So there seems to be an issue that I probably caused but you may be able to help me fix it. When I first installed this UI it was working beautifully but I REALLY wanted to keep ElvUIs bag frames because theyre so damn good. So i reninstalled elvui and just turned everything off but the bag frames, it caused a few things to get put out of place but I got it all back to how it was pretty quickly. However, now DPS Grid frames do not interact with the Hide/Show Minimap button, they just kinda... stay halfway down the screen.
When my minimap is shown, the raidframes cover up all the text under the minimap, so i can't read what time it is, etc. When my minimap is hidden it looks... fine, but the frames dont move up to fill that gap left by the mia minimap, so in a party bigger than ~15people, they start to fall off the bottom of the screen. If you happen to have a fix it would be wonderful, if not I'll keep poking around to see what i can figure out. This is my favorite UI though and I'm very glad you have been willing to share it. |

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Teaching?
Agreed on the color match. I actually tried some of the 3d mists, smoke, and arcane effect backgrounds for class type when I finally gave up on the style you used, but I couldn't find good ones for rogue or monk and eventually scrapped the idea. Even the classes I found that matched, the effects were either underwhelming or overpowering. Thanks again, m |

Re: Re: Re: Re: Teaching?
The white circle is a kgPanels graphic. On top of that there is a WA graphic showing a simple coloured glow depending on class (I did that because for some classes I couldn't find 3D models that were a good enough colour match). Then both above and below that are 2 or 3 3D WA models for each class. I thought the effects looked better mixed together. The DK bone are actually behind the circle graphic the whole time, i just positioned them some the lower edge of their orbit was sort of below the circle. |

Re: Re: Re: Teaching?
I agree that there's a lot of tutorial videos in this space, but none of them come with such an inspiring showcase as your UI vids. Linking kgPanels and WA would be amazing, as would going into custom triggers. For sure, a good tutorial on layering within WA and kgPanels and such would be a very valuable topic and not one that's covered well as far as I can tell. It's kind of why I'm here.
I hate to jump in and just start stomping around asking questions but I've done a fair bit of research and I'm afraid I just don't see a lot of people using some of the techniques you are, so I'm not really sure where else to find the answers. Please forgive me! In your video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hdQhYWDq3w are your class icons simply layered effects? After spending a tremendous amount of quality time with the model interface in WA, I recognize some of the effects but I just can't tell if the "button" look is a custom model or texture or what? Is this some sort of very clever model layering, or is it a combination of layering and custom textures/models? Is that bone shield model for the DK ui actually 3d orbiting the class icon? If so, I have no idea how to even begin to make a model that changes strata mid orbit. Thanks so much, and keep up the amazing work!

Re: Re: Teaching?
Perhaps you can do a UI series if you will, where you do a UI in steps. I am familiar with KGPanels but I find weakauras2 very.. confusing. Anyway -- drink one for me! Cheers! |

Re: Teaching?
Regarding teaching the tricks of my UIs, I've been thinking I might make a few short tutorials on various topics. There is obviously a huge amount of tutorials on addon use already out there, but I think I could contribute something worthwhile on a few topics... things I had to figure out the hard way because the tutorials didn't exist (or nobody was using the technique yet). What I thought I might cover is: - kgPanels with a unit frame (focusing on things like layering, which doesn't get mentioned much elsewhere) - using kgPanels to make popup menus (mentioning some basic kgPanels scripting, frame parenting, etc) - linking kgPanels and WeakAuras (I think a lot of people want this explained) - getting the most out of Stuf unit frames - fixing incomplete font files (fonts with no accented characters, etc) - maybe some general concepts for effective minimal design (like advanced (de)buff filtering) But before I launch into that, is there anything you (or anyone else) can think of that they specifically want explained? |

Teaching?
Kait,
If you'd be interested in teaching me how you make these UIs (even a simple version of one) Id be interested in paying you for your time. It seems so... heavy to me. Anyway -- incoming beers! ~C |
