gmUI

--- About

GmUI is a simple and clean UI for World of Warcraft.
I made it following the idea to use the settings in WTF folder less possible.
This because I usually install this UI on my sons accounts and guildmates.

The addons I have used to make it are:

BugSack
Bazooka
Butsu
gmActionBars
gmAggroMon
gmAutopsy
gmBagsSlots
gmChat
gmDurability
gmEquipSet
gmExp
gmFonts
gmGuildFriends
gmLm
gmLoot
gmMenu
gmMinimap
gmMoney
gmMounts
gmPets
gmProf
gmSay
gmShot
gmSpecs
gmSpeed
gmTweaks
gmVideoSwitch
idTip
Inventorian
NugCast
rButtonTemplate
rButtonTemplate_Gm_sr
rLib
Shadowed Unit Frames

Other buttons theme (instead of rButtonTemplate_Gm_rs):
rButtonTemplate_Gm
rButtonTemplate_Gm_sz
rButtonTemplate_Zork (but with this I think you can't skin the auree in my UI because different naming)

All these addons can be found usually on:
WoWInterface
Curse

--- Install

There are a couple ways to install it.

-- Automatic install (windows only)

The install script can't be upload in this archive, because usually sites like WowInterface and Curse prevents to upload .exe/.cmd files. It is a right policy and I agree with it.

Btw:
I have made a little installer script that backups your old settings and then deploys the new interface: Install-gmUI.cmd .
You exec it, choose your WoW folder, your account profile and the script can automagically deploys the UI for you.
If someone wants to check it: http://files.disturbia-guild.com/gmui is welcome.

-- Manual install

- Backup the directory _retail_\Interface\AddOns then delete it
- Copy the gmUi Addons folder in _retail_\Interface\

The following steps are optionals but I strongly suggests to make them to try the settings of few addons:

- Backup the directory _retail_\WTF\Account\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME\SavedVariables then delete it
- Copy the gmUi SavedVariables folder in _retail_\WTF\Account\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME

I have included the settings for some addons:

-- Bazooka (settings for font and textures)
-- gmFonts (change default fonts)
-- Shadowed Unit Frames
-- NugCast

-- Thanks and credits

I'd like to say thanks to all addon's authors and forum users that help me so much in writing my addons and this UI.

The URL parsing code in the chat frame is by: AnduinLothar, Kharthus
https://www.wowinterface.com/downloa...181-ReURL.html

Also I want to say thanks to Theras-Nemesis for the UI textures
--- FAQ & Common Editing

This new version of the UI is planned with the idea to re-use much of the Blizzard code as possible.
Some addons I have used before are not used anymore to reflect the new changes in the 8.2 game version.

Most of UI elements, i.e:

ActionBars
Chat
Minimap

are now managed by some simply addons that only "remove" unwanted elements.

My UI is planned to be use without so many changes by end users and for this reason it is not so easy to customize if you don't want to manage some lua files, but it is not difficult either.
It is planned with the idea that user have to understand the addon world and experiment a little bit with them.

Hi,

for the "aura/buff bars" I think you should use a separate addon or you have to code it by yourself in OUF.
In the Zork framework, which is the base for my UI I don't think it is possible to realize using only modification of configuration files.

In the point 4 I want to explain that if you have a pack of 5/6 mobs and you select 1 of them you can easily check which one of the pack you select checking the nameplates.

In the file:
AddOns\gmTweaks\core.lua at the end

there are some global vars that you can change to modify the color and aspect of (selected) nameplate.

Lua Code:
  1. -- Zork suggestion for nameplates
  2.     SetCVar("nameplateMaxAlpha","0.4")
  3.     -- SetCVar("nameplateMaxAlphaDistance","40")
  4.     SetCVar("nameplateMinAlpha","0.4")
  5.     -- SetCVar("nameplateMinAlphaDistance","0")
  6.     -- SetCVar("nameplateSelectedAlpha","1")
  7.     -- SetCVar("nameplateShowFriendlyNPCs","0")

Is it more clear now ?
Please let me know.

3) Is there a way to make personal buffs appear as auras above my unitframe ( like it does in ELVui for example ) or would I need a separate addon for it .
4) Is there a way to highlight a targeted unitframe so I can easily spot it in m+ where there are packs of 5-10 mobs?

Hi,

I'll try to answer point by point:

1) For example to edit the Target Unit Frame you have to edit: AddOns\oUF_SimpleConfig\target.lua, now it is in this way:

Lua Code:
  1. buffs = {
  2.         enabled = false,
  3.         point = {"BOTTOMLEFT","RIGHT",-24,20},
  4.         num = 5,
  5.         cols = 5,
  6.         size = 24,
  7.         spacing = 5,
  8.         -- initialAnchor = "TOPLEFT",
  9.         growthX = "LEFT",
  10.         growthY = "UP",
  11.         disableCooldown = true,
  12.     },
  13.
  14.     debuffs = {
  15.         enabled = true,
  16.         point = {"TOPLEFT","RIGHT",-24,-28},
  17.         num = 5,
  18.         cols = 5,
  19.         size = 24,
  20.         spacing = 5,
  21.         -- initialAnchor = "TOPLEFT",
  22.         growthX = "LEFT",
  23.         growthY = "DOWN",
  24.         disableCooldown = false,
  25.     },

If you want to enable the buffs you can put them to true and change the numbers from 5 to 7 for example.

2) to move the tooltip:
Tipsy: /tipsy - displays this message
Tipsy: /tipsy show - show the tooltip anchor
Tipsy: /tipsy reset - reset the tooltip anchor to the bottom right

3)
You mean something like the point 1) but for player.lua ?

4) If you mean the nameplate of the targetted unit colored in different way you can check in:
AddOns\gmTweaks\core.lua at the end of the file where there are some global vars that you can change to modify the color and aspect of nameplate.

Lua Code:
  1. -- Zork suggestion for nameplates
  2. SetCVar("nameplateMaxAlpha","0.4")
  3. -- SetCVar("nameplateMaxAlphaDistance","40")
  4. SetCVar("nameplateMinAlpha","0.4")
  5. -- SetCVar("nameplateMinAlphaDistance","0")
  6. -- SetCVar("nameplateSelectedAlpha","1")
  7. -- SetCVar("nameplateShowFriendlyNPCs","0")

Please let me know.
Thanks for answering , what I meant for 3) is " aura/buff bars " above the unitframe that represent the duration of it instead of an icon with the number on it , here you go I google it for ya

https://i.gyazo.com/5175df851c5311f4...bdbc9b03d1.png

- Basicly same as the bar u get when u mount up or cast anything
And I dont really understand what you meant by 4) I cant seem to be able to find where to change color of targeted mob

Does not show cooldowns

I installed your ui and i love it, but it doesn't show when my abilities are on a cooldown and this makes it hard to play the game

Hi,

you should edit:
World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\rButtonTemplate_Gm_sr\theme.lua

at line 160 put 1 instead of 0.

Pls let me know.

I like the minimalist footprint and superfast loads with this type of setup and I am coming from using Shadowed Unit frames; Grid and Kui Nameplates. I just do miss the blue arrows around the selected target nameplate.

I know the ElvUI people also have target indicators on their nameplates. Wondering if there was a way to pull those textures off and apply here? Figured I'd ask.
Zork has answered to this question:
http://www.wowinterface.com/download....html#comments

Basically you can control the nameplate colors and alpha with CVARS.

For example he suggests something like:
Lua Code:
  1. SetCVar("nameplateMaxAlpha","0.5")
  2. SetCVar("nameplateMaxAlphaDistance","40")
  3. SetCVar("nameplateMinAlpha","0.5")
  4. SetCVar("nameplateMinAlphaDistance","0")
  5. SetCVar("nameplateSelectedAlpha","1")

Which is the default right now:
https://github.com/zorker/rothui/blo...eplate.lua#L15

Please let me know.

Uhm ... I have to see if it is possible but probably is not as simple.
But let me check
