Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.
The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.
When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.
For more information, please visit us at http://www.gathereraddon.com/
INSTALLATION:
--------------
Extract the data to your "World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns" directory so that the "Gatherer" directory is a subdirectory of the "AddOns" directory.
USAGE:
--------------
Just use the game as normal.
When you gather things, they will appear on your minimap and your main map.
If you want to configure the addon, click the Gatherer configuration icon floating around your minimap frame or type /gather options.
Slash Commands
/gather minimap (on|off|toggle) - controls the minimap tracking functionality
/gather mainmap (on|off|toggle) - controls the world map tracking functionality
/gather dist <n> - sets the minimap tracking distance to this number of units. (in game yards)
/gather num <n> - sets the maximum number of items to display (default=20, up to 50)
/gather herbs (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show herb data on the minimap")
/gather ore (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show mining data on the minimap")
/gather treasure (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show treasure data on the minimap")
/gather options - show the configuration dialog

Akussa,
The fact that you deleted your WTF folders is why you are missing nodes since that is where WoW stores addons' data. The database from our site only augments your data- if there is an issue with the current data set pulled from WoWHead, et al, then try one of the older databases located on the http://GathererAddOn.Com/dl page- there are quite a few available, going back for some time. The full list- http://gathereraddon.com/dl/GathererDB/?all=1* Gatherer's main function is to record the location of nodes that you visit, making it easier for you to find your way back the next time. We only provide the database as an enhancement and do not state anywhere that every node in the game is included since we must rely on the methods outlined in my previous post. Our best advice is: go out and gather those nodes, then you will have them in your database. Be sure to back up your WTF directory so that you do not encounter the issue again. We appreciate the input and will happily include other data, from verifiable sources, when those sources become available. Happy Gatherering, Nikk

Broken?
Howdy. Tuesday night Gatherer broke on me. Everytime I looted anything from a corpse I kept getting a message about a specific copper node being "nile" or something or other. I didn't think to write it down. So, I disabled it for a couple of days, then re-enabled it.
But now it's completely stopped working. It shows in my addon manager as loaded but I cannot get the minimap button or slash commands or anything to work. So, I deleted it from my addon folder and deleted the saved vairables for both the global and character specific folder, then reinstalled it. Still... nothing. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Re: Broken?
Hello Chiaroscurist,
The error you note was fixed about 2 versions back- there was an issue with a library that Gatherer uses when you loot items due to a change by Blizz that was unannounced. Again, that was addressed in Gatherer but some other Addons that borrowed our library, "libswag", did not fix their versions. Unfortunately, the way things work is that once a library is loaded, then all Addons needing that library use the instance that is running- so, you could well have another Addon that is causing the issue. The only way to know for sure is to run Gatherer alone, then re-add your other Addons to determine the culprit. As for the other issue, your entire database is contained in the Gatherer.lua file over in the WTF folder. If you delete that, then you deleted your database of nodes that you have gathered to date. Now, we do offer a partial node database to get folks started, and that can be found on the main Gatherer download page - http://GathererAddOn.Com/dl simply go there, grab the most recent version of Gatherer and the WoWHeadDB addon. Install both of them, and follow the instructions for importing contained on http://wiki.norganna.org/GathererDB. Since you have had issues, recommend deleting any Gatherer folders you have in the Addons folder before re-installing, then we can be sure that you are starting fresh. Happy Reinstalling, Nikk

Conflict with OptionHouse
When Gatherer is running with OptionHouse, the search frame of the OptionHouse dialog is in the wrong place.
I'm saying about "search" input box in the OptionHouse config dialog. There is code like this: frame.search:SetHeight(19) frame.search:SetWidth(150) frame.search:SetAutoFocus(false) frame.search:ClearAllPoints() frame.search:SetPoint("CENTER", frame, "BOTTOMLEFT", 100, 25) and it works ok when Gatherer is off. But when it is on, the SetWidth() and SetPoint() begin to work incorrectly - they change only the position of the input field, but the grey frame that has to be around it doesn't change its width and pos and is positioned in the middle of the dialog box, not at its place. |

Re: Conflict with OptionHouse
Hi there, SoulBurner,
We have taken a look through the frame handling and such and cannot find where or why Gatherer would have any affect on the calls you reference. None of us run Option House itself, but those are pretty standard. Looks like you will have to talk to Shadowed and see if they have some insight as to why Option House would behave in such a way. If they come up with anything pointing toward Gatherer, we will be happy to work with them to allow both to work at once. Let us know, Nikk

Eastern Plaguelands
It appears that the Eastern Plaguelands has been expanded. This is causing all recorded gathers in the Eastern Plaguelands to have incorrect locations when displayed on the zone map or minimap.
My playtime has been limited, especially on the PTR which are kind of an overpopulated mess. However, it's possible that other zones have changed and are similarly effected. I imagine it would be possible to implement some sort of import conversion which could correct these saved gather locations. edit: Gather locations in Stormwind City are also affected.

Re: Eastern Plaguelands
JMHammer,
This happened before, so we are used to the inconvenience, unfortunately. The changes thus far are just the beginning, look for more soon. Nikk

Gatherers,
We are about ready to post the WoW 3.0-compatible version of Gatherer - 3.1.4. Important Note: Please do not gather anything in-game prior to updating. Due to some size changes to EPL and Stormwind, should you gather a node prior to updating, you will corrupt your entire database. The only recourse will be to restore from a backup - if you have one. As for the release, there should be no issues remaining. There were some lockups due to scroll frames that should now be fixed. If you experience any sort of issue once 3.x comes on live, please review the posts on http://forums.norganna.org/12/ and create a new thread if you do not see your issue noted already. Happy Gatherering, Nikk |

I get an error about FrameXML\GameTooltip.lua trying to concatenate a nil value on line 82. The root of the error comes from GatherUtil.lua on line 462. Apparently, you should not create GameTooltips with nil names, as that's what causes the error. I fixed it locally by adding a silly name to the tooltip it creates which seems to solve the problem.
This is with Gatherer 3.1.4 on live 3.0.2.

Hi there RomRacer,
Unfortunately that one slipped by, but is fixed in our subversion repository and will be out for everyone in the next build. That build should be along fairly soon, too. Thank you, Nikk

Is there still a node database import (e.g. from Wowhead) available to "prime" my database?

Where are my nodes?
Thanks for updating Gatherer for WoW3.02!
I know that I could import the latest wowhead.com database, but I prefer to stick with my own hand-picked nodes. But none of them are displaying, on either the zone map or the minimap. Did I miss a step in the update process, or is there some error here that needs to be corrected, or is my previous database simply not compatible with the new version? |

Re: Where are my nodes?
JMHammer,
As per the note below, as long as you did not attempt to gather in 3.x prior to updating- you should be ok. Since you commented, you likely did try to do that. Unfortunately, unless you have a backup, there is nothing we can do. Take this as a great time to make backups of your entire ..WorldofWarcraft\WTF directory every few days. Sorry that you lost your nodes, at least they are not all that hard to replace. Best Luck, Nikk

Forty2J,
Once WoWHead is able to change their entire database over to compensate for the 3.x, we will be updating the WoWHeadDB mod that provides the starter database. Until then, you are stuck gathering the old fashioned way. Happy Node Hopping, Nikk
