As my Hunter friends can readily attest, keeping a wild pet can be a full-time job. Why, just feeding the critter when he gets hungry can throw off your routine -- you've got to rummage around in your bags, find a piece of food, make sure it's appropriate for his diet, and check your aim before tossing it to him (lest you accidentally destroy a tasty morsel). So inconvenient! Not to mention potentially dangerous... you don't want to spend so long digging through your bags that you or your pet become someone else's snack.
Never fear, Gazmik Fizzwidget is here with a new gadget to automate all your pet-food-management tasks! My incredible Feed-O-Matic features state-of-the-art nutritional analyzers to make sure your pet's hunger is satisfied with a minimum of fuss, advanced selective logic to make your pet doesn't eat anything you have another use for, and a weight optimizer to make sure the food in your bags stays well organized! You can have it automatically feed your pet when needed -- or, if you're worried about running out of food while you take a nap, you can opt to manually press the "Feed Now" button and it'll intelligently choose a food and accurately toss it to your pet. This is actually one of the first gizmos I started work on... but because I'm a perfectionist I haven't considered it ready for release until now.

Makes feeding your pet quick, easy, and fun:

The feature to not use quest related food or prefer food without stat buffs appears to be broken.
I had turtle meat for the quest in Hillsbrad and FOM kept feeding the meat to my wolf, despite there being plenty of wolf ribs and other tasty treats for him to eat. That, with the error when mousing over empty inventory spaces, is quickly making this mod unusable. Are there any alternatives out there that have been kept up to date with the 2.0 patch that folks would like to recommend? Cheers! |

On a separate note: When FOM was working I too was having issues with the pet being fed my stat-enhancing food, even though I specifically told FOM not to and had 40 pet-friendly meats (all 35 happiness food, too) in my inventory. I had to continually train FOM by wasting a food and feeding the pet so that FOM got the idea that it was food the pet could eat (even though the tooltip already said "<pet> loves this food" FOM was ignoring that and wouldn't use it until such a time as I "trained" it again. Many moons ago, FOM had a rudimentary ability to manually allow and disallow various types of food. Perhaps it is time to bring that back again so we can build our own pet-friendly food lists? |

Automatic Feeding
Hmm I am having a problem with automatic feeding, namely it doesn't seem to work. I can do the manual feeding by pressing the pet happiness icon and it feeds my pet, but I was under the impression that the feeder should automatically feed you pet on it's own with no work from the hunter. Am I wrong on this one? It's still way easier to just click the icon but it would be even easier if it fed my pet itself. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

For some reason, the latest version of this, 2.0.2, has not been uploaded. It fixes the error of when you go over the empty inventory spaces and I've not had problems with it feeding the pet stuff I don't want it to acording to my settings. It also allows you to edit the list of what is and isn't considered food. You can download 2.0.2 at the Feed-o-matic website

I can see why people would THINK it auto-feeds, since the description still hasn't been edited to remove:
"Automatic feeding: Feeds your pet whenever his happiness falls below a certain level ("content" by default), automatically choosing an appropriate food." The mod used to have this feature, but it was lost a couple patches ago. |

One of the better hunter mods out there imo. As long as he'd update it for 2.0.3 already. =) |

Macro this...
With 2.0.3, you can now use the /click command on secure buttons. You can create a macro with:
/click FOM_FeedButton and it will act just like clicking the happiness button. I think this will be a boon to anyone not using the default unit frames. I haven't figured out a way to do a right click to bring up the options, but you can simply type /feed. |

Removing a food from the diet list does not work.
I tried to save my precious Winter Veil Roast from being fed to my pet (don't ask why, it was just a whim), so I tried the /fom remove meat [Winter Veil Roast] command (the meat name was inserted by using shift-click) and still FOM did not remove it, it just displayed a message that the food name should be inserted by shift-clicking on it. Also, I had Roasted Quail and Tiger Meat in my inventory, and no matter what settings I picked, Feed-o-matic kept feeding Tiger Meat to my lvl 60 boar.
