MetaMap  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 20100-2
by: MetaHawk [More]

DESCRIPTION:
============
MetaMap adds features to the WoW world map, keeping all mapping type features in a single place.
Some features are:

Adjust the map window size.
Move the map anywhere on the screen.
Adjust the opacity of the window & maps.
Saved sets for toggling between 2 map modes.
Allows full player movement, messaging, etc. with map open.
Adds coords to the main map and the Minimap
Adds Instance maps which open to the correct instance you enter.
Default data included for all bosses & locations etc.
User editable notes for all maps, including instance maps.
NPC/Mob database collectable by mouseover or keypress.
Toggling on/off display of unexplored areas of the map.
Boss Loot Tables displays all the loot dropped by bosses, and more.
Waypoint system to guide you to any set point.
Complete Quest logger with optional history database.
Tracker module for gathering Herbs/Ores etc.
NoteBook module for additional notes, linked to Tooltips.
Inbuilt Import and export facilities for various data formats.
Inbuilt Backup and Restore facilities.
Button on Minimap to open or close the World Map or display MetaMap options.
Key bindings for various MetaMap functions.
Full support for Titan Bar.

INSTALLATION:
=============
Extract ALL folders in the archive to the Interface\AddOns\ location. If you wish the Instance maps to be populated with default information, then on first installation you will need to select 'Extended Options' from the MetaMap menu.
Select the 'Database' tab, then click 'Load Imports'. This will enable the default import button, 'Import Instance Notes'. Click on the 'Import' button to import the data.

ISSUES/COMPATIBILITIES:
=======================
Some addons may reset the map to gather location data.
If your map continuously jumps back to your current location when selecting another map,
it will be due to another addon resetting it. In most cases the authors have made changes
to correct this so, download the latest version of any conflicting addon.

Added frame level adjust for TitanBar button. Works correctly again now.
MetaMapTRK now saves options seperately for each character.
...(Currently looking at changing the map routines, which is likely to take some time).
...(Thought i'd get these fixes out in the meantime).

Not sure if this will help or not... I had the same thing happen after the blizzard patch and found I couldn't use any of my old data. I deleted everthing MetaMap and did a clean install.

After that I found on a clean install of MetaMap that I had the same thing as above so I set all my preferences, did the import.. then I hit the reload UI button AND I also fully exited the game and came back in.. upon return I had all the right side data.. POIs and Boss Loot etc..

I did not however have anything in the knowledgebase, I believe that MetaMap does not come with any knowledgebase info so that probably why its empty. (I could be wrong)

Hmmm ... odd then. I have 7 quests. Nothing is displayed.

EDIT: If it's any help, I get the following errors opening the quest window ....

Oh not sure if this is only me or not - Every time I log in, I need to set 'show unexplored areas'. Did this setting get left out of the savedvariables? I didn't see one that looked like it controlled that value.
The Modules section in the Extended Options allow you to load a module automatically at the start of each session.

Thumbs up Doh! I should have known that!

However, not to worry on that, as I will be adding an option to merge notes once all the new TBC stuff is sorted.

MiniMap coordinates a tiny bit off

If I could have only one mod, I think this would be the one!
I am having a strange thing happening though: when the MiniMap coordinates are turned on, they don't match up with the coordinates which float high and to the left of the main map (when the scale is shrunk down) or the coorindates that display at the bottom of the main MetaMap screen. I have Titan installed and when i use the coordinates plugin it matches the other two coordinates mentioned before. So only the green MiniMap coordinates are off. For instance, if the other three sets of coordinates show 53,42 the MiniMap coords may be 54,42 or 54,41. Not that far off but this discrepency is odd. (I haven't d/l 20000-5 yet.)
No other issues - love this mod!

Also just realized that when the map is open while flying, the MiniMap coords don't update until the map gets closed.

That file will no longer import i'm afraid, due to the change in data format. However, it has been mentioned that someone has already done a conversion. Take a look at a post by Gorkish in the 4000 database section on WorldofWar.

I've been working on trying to update an old copy of MetaMapNotesTarget to work with the new version, and I've got it mostly working (via calls to MetaMap_SetNewNote()).

Is there any way to programatically edit a note?

The case I'm trying to cover is when a player goes to add a note, but it's too close to an existing note. I want to provide the ability to merge the new data with the old one. Eseentially combining the 2 notes data fields. I couldn't find anything that that I could access that would allow that. I was wondering/hoping we could add a MetaMap_EditNote(zone, noteID, <rest of params just like SetNewNote()>) or something?

Thanks for the consideration.

I did, but it keeps coming back! The functionality of it on my fubar is nil for my purpose. I have all the icons disabled on my map, and I do just disable it each time i log in. I was going to go into the MetaMap code and remove it alltogether but then i realized i'd have to do it every time you update so i scratched that idea. Metamap is bound to my map key and that's all i need. I forgot I had LocationFu - that is what puts my location in the fubar.

I of course by no means could live without metamap, so having to turn it off in fubar or just trying to ignore it is not putting me out any

Questlog

Everything in MetaMap works fine for me--except the questlog. When I open it up it shows no quests but it does display the number of quests at the top of the questlog window. Anyone know how to fix this?

Nair, when you open MetaMap, click on the options button then go down to Knowledge Base and click on it.
You should see another small ? icon, click on it to bring up the MetaMap Info. From there, you will have a drop down in the upper left that you can select to read on the various modules and how they work.

Hope that helps.
