Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.


Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.

After 4.0.3a I "had to" clear my WTF files and set up addons / settings from scratch. I had two separate problems, one of which I identified with the interface/wtf folder reset (apparently I shouldn't play with windowed mode). The other one is still a bit unknown to me. Sometimes my wow freezes for a second when a mob is about to die and/or I loot. Disabling all addons worked, but I also noticed that I didn't get the freezes even after I enabled them all again, so I couldn't determine if it was a particular addon after all.

Anyways, this might be a third completely unrelated issue, but today in a dungeon I noticed that my FPS would go from 60 to 0 when I started aoeing. Just packs of 3-6. I disabled only MSBT based on a hunch and didn't get FPS drops anymore. I think I tried a reload UI before that but I'm not completely sure. I also didn't get them after I enabled MSBT again. Do you have any idea what the cause might be? I haven't had this problem before and I don't know if it's some setting I should disable / enable / change.

Sometimes my wow freezes for a second when a mob is about to die and/or I loot.
I have had that very problem for quite some time without figuring out the exact cause, however the problem seemed to go away when I disabled msbt. As much as I love msbt I haven't been able to play with the addon running for some months now, possibly since the initial 4.0 patch. If anybody has ideas as to what's causing these lockups, please /point

I'm not sure of the underlying specifics, but I have the feeling that several of the string handling routines and/or securehookfunc methods have become much slower on Blizzard's end, as I've seen slowdowns resulting from several different addons that had no problems prior to 4.0.1.

With regards to MSBT and looting enemies, MSBT will still do all of the loot processing (such as GetItemInfo) and string building for the display event even if you have explicitly told it to NOT show money/loot notifications.

(This is in MSBTLoot.lua, the HandleMoney and HandleItems methods. Haven't yet had the time to run through all of the MSBT code, so I'm not sure if there are any eyeball-detectable slow code points.)

EDIT: Just google'd 'cataclysm,' 'getiteminfo,' and 'slow'... apparently GetItemInfo does a server query now for items not in your local cache, and this call can get throttled on the network. So, the higher your latency, the slower this code will go on your system.

I can't figure out how to make a trigger for when I reach 9 stacks of Lightning Shield (for the elemental shaman talent Fulmination). If I use Aura Application, the trigger does not work since Lightning Shield is not newly applied, and if I use Aura Refresh, there is no option to specify an amount of stacks/charges.

Is there a way to filter out Fishing the skill without filtering out Fishing skill ups? I have a spam filter so that I don't get +/- Fishing every time I spam cast it, but it is also suppressing skillups like "Fishing: 483".

Appear below other frames rather than on-top

Any way of making MikScrollingBattleText appear below other UI elements in the display?

For example, the default Blizzard text appears underneath other add-ons like Grid. But MikScrollingBattleText appears on top of Grid, obscuring it. Any way to make it go to the back?

How do you make it so in arenas when there is a hunter and druid, MSBT can display a message on my screen when they are casting either

hibernate or scare beast on me.

or just in general casting it because the only target is going to be me.


how do i do this because

I tried

Cast start

Recipient Unit Affliation = Hostile

skill name = Hibernate

skill name = Scare Beast


No go.

Some messages like "Snared" and "Attacking you" still manage to escape MSBT , is it something else thats causing them ? they get very annoying

Blizzard's Floating Combat Text Font?

Does anyone happen to know which font Blizzard uses for it's own default Floating Combat Text font? I kind of got used to that font, and woud like to use it.

Edit: Nevermind, I realized it's the Friz font.
