Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Do not use comments to report bugs or request features. Such comments will be deleted. Use the links above to post a ticket instead!
Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

I don't monitor MMO Champion; if you need help with Grid, your best bet is always to post either on this page, or in the WowAce forum thread. If you post anywhere else, I probably won't see it.

Anyway, I don't have a priest, but I couldn't reproduce the issue with any of the classes I do play (Earth Shield on my shaman, MotW on my druid).

Did you recently change what language you play WoW in? If so, that is probably the issue. Grid currently tracks buffs by name, and the buff names it looks for are set according to your current language when your Grid profile is created. If you switch from English to German, for example, the old "Buff: Power Word: Fortitude" status will still exist, but you'll also see a new status named "Buff: Machtwort: Seelenstärke", and only the new one will actually detect the buff.

If not:

1. Did you update Grid today or recently?
2. Which version of Grid are you using now?
3. Are you playing on live or beta servers?
4. Did you change any other Grid settings recently?
5. Did you install any new addons recently?

Also, it may be helpful to get a look at your saved variables file; this way I can actually load your settings in-game myself. You can either email the file to me (addons at phanx.net) or submit a ticket on WowAce and attach the file. You can find the file in your WoW program folder, under WTF > Account > (your account name/number) > SavedVariables > Grid.lua. Please don't forget to mention which profile you are using.

Hi, I was just wondering if you could help me, I posted this in the mmo-champ forums but couldnt find the answer.

I play a priest and for the last year or so have set my grid to show me if people are missing their Fortitude buff. IF they were missing the buff, their whole health bar would turn pink and I would know to buff them up.

It was setup using a status which I then linked to the Health Bar Colour indicator.

For some reason it stopped working today, Im not sure what has happened, but I cant get it to show me who is missing the buff.

The only other statuses that I have set for the health bar colour are the standard ones of disease, poison, magic, curse, unit health and offline warning as standard. I tested it in a battleground, and i CAN see when people have magic debuffs, their health bar turns blue, same with poisons or death, but for some reason I cant add any of my own buffs to monitor any more :S

any suggestions?

Just a general post to say thanks for keeping this addon updated and maintained for so many years. This is the single addon I absolutely cannot do without for my healing.

4.3.4.1485-beta
  • Added a new Resurrect status module.
    • Please report any and all issues with this to the WowAce ticket tracker!
    • If you use the GridStatusRes plugin, you should disable it, or unassign its "Incoming resurrection" and "Resurrected" statuses from all indicators.
    • Core support for Soulstones will be added in a future release.
  • Fixed range checking on dead units (ticket #566).
  • Fixed the options for removing custom auras (thanks jlam).
  • Fixed an issue that caused some Frame settings not to be updated when switching to another profile (ticket #556).
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused borders and text to appear blurry or distorted when UI scaling is disabled.
  • Improved range checking on dead units for death knights, druids, and warlocks.
  • Improved the debugging system; this is mainly of interest to plugin authors.

This is a known issue, but I haven't had time to work on fixing it yet, unfortunately.

Hi Phanx, hope you will catch my message when you have time.

I am trying to setup 3 profiles - one for 10 man with bigger frames, one for 25 man and one for 40 man for Alterac Valley.

I am using macros like this

/grid profile choose Alterac Valley

and its working great.

The problem is when i change between the 3 profiles using macros the layout is not remembering his position until i open Grid and drag Frame width up or down. Once i do that it remembers the layout position.

I am asking for your help, only thing that comes to my mind is to put something that will do - set frame width 40 and then set frame width 60 in the macro but i dont know how to do that.

Hoping for some help, thanks for this great addon.

10 minutes after i wrote this, google finally helped

so my macro now looks like this

/grid profile choose Alterac Valley
/grid gridframe framewidth 50
/grid gridframe framewidth 100

Maybe its ugly from an addon writer perspective, but its doing the job

Maybe in the future you will implement

...being able to have a fixed layout and change players frame size when you switch from solo, 10, 15, 25, 40 players. Well sometimes if you can it will be great. Have a nice day.

@slotting:

Frame > Text Options > Center Text Length

As mentioned near the top of the addon description, you should really take some time to look through the options available to you before asking how to change something. Not only will you save both your time and mine by not having to ask about every single thing you want to change, but you'll probably find a lot of options you had no idea existed.

If you want any help with the menu issue, you're going to have to be a lot more specific than "it's buggy", but most likely it's the same AceConfig/AceGUI library issue already reported in the bug tracker, here:

http://www.wowace.com/addons/grid/tickets/589-overlapping-controls-in-options-window/

@Draigars:

Another typo. Change:
Code:
SLASH_GRID_SWAP_PROFILES = "/gsp"
to:
Code:
SLASH_GRID_SWAP_PROFILES1 = "/gsp"

Thanks. Now, the macro works perfectly but the Lua fragment code doesn't. No more Lua errors or anything, the game just doesn't recognize the slash command.

That's because Grid does not have a GetProfile method. Profile methods are provided by AceDB-3.0, not AceAddon-3.0, so they act on the database, not the addon. You need to call Grid.db:GetProfile() instead.

Likewise, Grid.db:SetProfile(profileName). I did typo this in the macro portion of my last post; I've edited that post to correct it.

Ok, so I was finally able to test it ingame, and unfortunately it doesn't works. Seems that it doesn't recognize Grid:GetProfile.

Code:
Grid:SetProfile("Raid25")
If you just have two profiles and you want to swap between them with the same command/keybind, use a macro:
Code:
/run local A,B="Raid10","Raid25" if Grid.db:GetCurrentProfile() == A then Grid.db:SetProfile(B) else Grid.db:SetProfile(A) end
or a slash command:
Code:
SLASH_GRID_SWAP_PROFILES = "/gsp"
SlashCmdList["GRID_SWAP_PROFILES"] = function()
	if Grid.db:GetCurrentProfile() == "Raid10" then
		Grid.db:SetProfile("Raid25")
	else
		Grid.db:SetProfile("Raid10")
	end
end

Hello Phanx. Thansk for answering me in the forums.

So I tried your Layout mods, but none did satisfy me. I'll finally choose an easy solution: typing /grid profile choose Raid10 each time I'll need to.

Only thing is, it would be great to have only to type /G10. So I'd like to have a little LUA hack, but have no idea once I write the bacis.

SlashCmdList["GRID25"] = function()
???
end
SLASH_GRID25 = "/g25"
Could you help me with this? Many thanks.
