ICU - I See You 2.0  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

This is a revision i've made for ICU to make it working for all hunters (and all classes
having tracking abilities) in The Burning Crusade and in the 2.0 Live version.
This mod will make your tracking much easier by letting you target and see who are the
anonymous dots you see on your minimap.

Please refer to the attached readme.txt for some basic FAQs.

[+] Click Targeting working again! Thanks to Fedos for the enlighthening code.
The ICU dropdown buttons are now secure and auto-bound to a macro attribute edited on flight. As a result the /target macro attached to each button is executed on the click.
Of course, click targeting doesnt work while in combat but i think most of us use it while outside combat. You can delete the old ICU_LastTarget macro : its not needed anymore.

[+] Added colour coloring for tooltip text : enemy and friends should now be colored accordingly. This way you can see who are the dots even before clicking them. Also, if the target is known, you'll see his coloured class type aswell.

[+] Added new MiniMap Ping mode option to options window:
DEFAULT : the map is pinged when you click.
OFF : the map is not pinged when you click.
INSIDE BG : the map is pinged only when you are in a battleground.
OUTSIDE BG : the map is pinged only when you are not in a battleground.
Clicking with CTRL key pressed overwrites all modes, not pinging map and doing
silent (SELF) announce.

[+] Fixed Squeenix mouse issue (Fedos).
[+] Fixed disconnection issues when clicking or pinging targets.
[+] Fixed lua string concatenation errors.
[+] Added Eye Of Storm to the possible battlegrounds.

2.0.2a Fix
[+] Corrected faction check from battlegrounds.
Enemy players should be seen as RED, while friendly should be seen as GREEN.

[+] Database revision. Should be now significantly smaller and faster. Old database is automatically converted at first
startup.
[+] Added temporary flag for battleground players. These players are stored and purged at next logon.
Also all BG players are automatically added directly from BG score window and not just by targetting.
When the BG starts or anything change in the BG world, the list is automatically updated.
If you want to force a list refresh, just open the BG score window.
[+] Changed /icu search result colors : red for enemy players, green for friendly players, orange for enemy mobs
and light green for friendly npc.
[+] Changed icon for Pet units...Warlocks Demons were defaulting to Paladins and Hunter pets to warriors.

Target Data
Mods are not allowed to acquire targets directly in BC, so i worked it around making a mobs database that grows while you play and target different mobs/players.
The first time you ping a new target on the minimap he'll report it with just name, guessing the difference between player and npc from the name (one word names are usually players).
Once you acquire the target, all his data is stored for future use : next time you ping the same target you'll get all relevant data.

First off, I gotta say I love this mod and I probably depend on it more than I should.

Lately I have been having a problem with it's operation. I've been grinding away for timbermaw rep, and I click on the minimap blips to bring the drop down target list to get ready for the next attack, but then if i click on the target list to target a specific enemy then it brings its portrait and says it is dead. Won't let me throw up a huntersmark on it. I have to do it the ol' fashion way and actually click on the mob and attack.

It still works great for tracking, but not the way it was before the 2.0 patch. Please help could I have help with this situation. Am I overlooking a setting or such? As I states previously, this is an awsome mod, just wished all of its functionality worked for me again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two suggestions (sorry if they're already implemented, but i can't find them):

1. Make it attempt to target based on clicks on minimap blips, instead of clicks from the Target List. If you can't do this in 2.0 with a single click, fine, make it do it on double clicks - first click builds a list, second click targets the first name on the list. Or at worst, left-click builds the list and right-click/some-other-hotkey targets the first name on the list.

2. Make an option to not bother saving the database for anyone, player or NPC. I'm only interested in the mod for targetting blips off my map, I don't really care for displaying their race/faction/class/level etc, since I can find that out myself from my unitframes if ICU does the job of targetting for me.

Sounds very interesting...I wont have time for that anytime soon tho..:S

eh...it has been discussed hundreds of times since the initial relase of ICU (it is around since 1.5 if not even earlier) and the results are yes, ti gives you a nice advantage but no, its not bannable since its an information tool wich still requires a player to interact and take relevant decisions, much like combat sentry gizmo and such.

Suggestion: Start a website which would be used to compile and synchronize database of units. NPCs are usually present on all servers so they could be pakaged in every database, but players would have to be per server.

Its going to be fixed in next release...im using it everyday and i got a couple of DCs too. I think i've nailed down the bug now.

for some reason im getting DC'd using ICU sometimes in WSG.

the only thing ive noticed is its when ive clicked on the unit name to ping.. itll ping and ill DC. it doesnt happen all the time though, just had it happen maybe 3 or 4 times total.

(this is using the FIRST version, not sure if its been fixed but i dont see anything about DCs in the changes/fixes)

Pdor and Fedos, you guys rock. I'm so looking forward to the next update....clicktargeting out of combat only is good enough for me!

and Pdor, I had to LOL when I red that you had coloured Horde red by default. That is a pretty hilarious "bug". I don't know if this was also intentional: beside my red-and-evil-looking friendly targets there was also an evil-looking skull and crossbones icon. Your addon is making me terrified of my own allies!

Hmm I never made that connection, thanks

As for the mod--color coded minimap would be (in my opinion) a revolutionary tool for all trackers. Depending on the difficulty, I would love to see this happen (and help in any way, however I dont have any experience in the area...)

Here's an idea. I remember clearly wowcensus using the who pane / command in order to get player data. Couldn't ICU attempt the same to get data at least for same faction players?

there seems to have been made official colors with the evolution of many frame addons
Those colors actually come from the default World of Warcraft colors used in the raid pane.

I get the error from using the one Fedos modded, to auto target via the map.

as far as tooltip, i use TipBuddy.
and for map mods, i use...simpleMinimap, Bongos, as well as Hide map button

Btw, yes, keeping shift pressed while clicking the map still does the normal ping.

following the dots on the minimap 'could' be done...i remember Gatherer doing something like that...but probably was hooking on my movement and working on fixed targets.
However, the tooltip colouring its very nice (i remember the very first versions of icu doing it?)...ive implemented in the next version to be releasd. Looks nice
