ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • added - config > actions > scrap (requires the scrap action to be applied to category). will only fill up the slots until you run out of items to scrap, you have to click on the scrap button as that is protected

  • removed - (cataclysm) keyring location
  • removed - config > actions > vendor > delete
  • added - config > actions > delete (only applies to junk items that have no sell price - requires the vendor or delete action to be applied to category)
  • changed - delete no longer requires you to be at a vendor
  • changed - currency scans will now only be skipped if youre in an actual dragon race, not just mounted.
  • changed - all collection scanning will now be skipped during dragonriding races. it will re-scan once the race is over (if needed).
  • added - category system > openable
  • added - category consumable > professions - knowledge (it used to fall back into power systems (old))
  • added - (timerunning) config > general > actions > use - will automatically use (open) any infinite treasure or bronze caches that you loot (disabled by default)
  • updated - (timerunning) mailbox auto send has been disabled
  • updated - category for some items

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

Unhappy Making the sorting for bank/gbank/bags the same?

I've had old sorting settings for my bags for a long time, but now the bank/gbank/bags all have their own sorting.

How do I set them all to use the same options as my bags? Redoing ALL my sorting has become a bit of an annoyance when I have to do it twice.

yes

because when I did that, it will purge it on logout, but when I log back in, the save is checked again
can you change the settings on any mod, or make any changes to ai settings and they stay that way on a logout/login?

you should take a look at the arkinventoryupgrades.lua file - i've converted huge amounts of data for pretty much every large change i've made so end users dont have to do anything.

there comes a point where i cant automate the change without data loss though, and that i cannot afford, users can get pissed off all they like for having to redo their rules but adding quotes is nothing, recreating them from scratch because my code screwed up and lost them totally isnt worth it - and believe me i tried on my own rules, it wasnt worth the hassle as i just couldnt code for every possibility.

and no it probably wont be the last time i cant make the changes for you and users are going to complain about it. im not a precog, i dont know if i need to change my data structures until i get there.

To the developer ...

If you make a change that is large enough to effect the whole way application runs (applies to whether a mod for wow or an windows front end to database back end for a coroporate client) (i.e. sorting and rules) YOU SHOULD OFFER A WAY TO PORT TO THE NEW CHANGES WITH OUT MAKING THE END USERS MANUALLY CHANGE EVERYTHING. If you don't offer easy migration, you just piss alot of people off and lose most of your user base ... up until this point I would say this is a stellar mod ... but gotta say somone dropped the ball big time ...

I'm not taking away from the work you have done on this project ... I"m just saying that the maintenance required by endusers to continue to use your mod (this is the second time i've had to go through and redo everything) is quite frankly "a pain in the ass" and is counter productive ... i use mods (espcially this one) to organize and save time ... which redoing everything on all my toons again certainly is not saving me any time.

I hope you take this post as intended ... something to learn from. You have created an awesome mod, I've used it for years. And I plan to update everything and continue to use ... I just hope this is the last time I have to redo everything

i dont pvp so i dont have any to test with but if you have more can you try the following;

type in (case sensitive) /console taintLog 1
reload your ui or logout/login
convert the tokens until it barfs
type in (case sensitive) /console taintLog 0
reload your ui or logout/login

in the Logs directory off where wow is installed will be a taint.log file, it should contain the lines in AI where its having an issue. if you could post those it would be very helpful in figuring out where the bug is.

Bug while coverting/turning in BG tokens.

Code:
ArkInventory has been blocked from an action only available to to the Blizzard UI.
To recreate:

1) Open the vendor and keep it open
2) "Buy" 10 tokens (via shift-click)
3) Place on hotbar with keybinding (probably doesn't matter on this part)
4) Click your 10 tokens
5) Get 10 more tokens
6) ERROR

It may take a couple of attempts as it doesn't happen every time.

open the bag window, click on the switch character button, mouseover the old name (dont click yet), on the side menu that pops out, click on delete all.

it's in the faq as well.

Nope, go into the config and set your bank display to be the same as your bags.
