ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • removed - config > actions > vendor > delete
  • added - config > actions > delete (only applies to junk items that have no sell price - requires the vendor or delete action to be applied to category)
  • changed - delete no longer requires you to be at a vendor
  • changed - currency scans will now only be skipped if youre in an actual dragon race, not just mounted.
  • changed - all collection scanning will now be skipped during dragonriding races. it will re-scan once the race is over (if needed).
  • added - category system > openable
  • added - category consumable > professions - knowledge (it used to fall back into power systems (old))
  • added - (timerunning) config > general > actions > use - will automatically use (open) any infinite treasure or bronze caches that you loot (disabled by default)
  • updated - (timerunning) mailbox auto send has been disabled
  • updated - category for some items

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

After noticing it, it's happening to the backpack, all of the other bags are unaffected.

Edit: Yeah, something is wrong with the backpack, as it's full but it doesn't show it's contents when you zone as far as i know.

Edit2: So i figured out that if you add something to the backpack, it started showing the things in the backpack. *shrug* No idea what is causing it.

I'm having this one problem with AI in 3.02.36, where after I zone a few things seem to go missing.

This is how my inventory normally looks

Any idea what might be the cause of it? A reload of the UI seems to fix it, however, i prefer not to have it bug out on me

After upgrading to the latest version this morning my rules were broken. I added quotes to my rules and most worked. The only ones that still say they are damaged are the ones using the outfit function. I have tried Outfit("setname") and reverting it to Outfit(setname) but both give the same error.

From the change log:::

  • changed - rule function arguments are now specified differently, this will cause some of your rules to break and some to not work exactly how you intended. string arguments now need to be quoted, eg name( "eternal", "shard" )
Edit:

But it does seem a few other things got borked as well. Nothing is sorting as I used to have it, which the log mentioned a reorder, but not a complete loss of sorting? And it doesn't auto-sort/refresh anymore?

a. you ran out of memory
b. you ran out of hard drive space where wow is installed

its impossible for addon authors to diagnose actual wow client crashes as we cant see game code - if we can find a way to reproduce it consistently then we can pass it on to blizzard to look at.

Making a button for pets/mounts?

Hi! I love your Add-on, but I have a question. How do I make the buttons for the pets, mounts, and keys? I have the bags working great! I also managed to get my regular bags so that I can sort them on my own, but my bank still sorts automatically - and I want to be able to do it for my mining bag in the bank especially. Anyway - great job!

AI Fatal Error Memory Bug

I have been having this problem since the last up date of AI. After weeks of trouble shooting I figured out if AI is not installed it goes away. The problem is this does not happen all the time, but for 2 weeks now I have had AI turned off and the problem has gone away.

This application has encountered a critical error:

Not enough storage is available to process this command.

I know do I have enough ram. 4g ram and I am only using 50% at any one time.

It only happens when I am tooling around in or near Dalaran

Is there a conflict with addons?

I have also replaced SLDT with Databroker and Bazooka. Again only when AI is on.

i cant see how but it might be possible, you can always disable all mods except AI and see if it still has issues.

Tried a different approach... although I don't know what pt(______) means...

not really, categories are pretty fast and only impacts first assignments, everything is cached after that.

unfortunately no. the vault is arranged vertically and AI cant arrange that way.

Is there a way to get the guild bank display to mimick the exact layout of the actual guild bank?

I ask because I was just reemed for trying to organize things because it looked like a mess, but turning off the override showed that it was actually organized before, just AI's slots don't line up.

If not, that's fine. I'll just keep the override off. Would just be handy for consistency.
