ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • changed - currency scans will now only be skipped if youre in an actual dragon race, not just mounted.
  • changed - all collection scanning will now be skipped during dragonriding races. it will re-scan once the race is over (if needed).
  • added - category system > openable
  • added - category consumable > professions - knowledge (it used to fall back into power systems (old))
  • added - (timerunning) config > general > actions > use - will automatically use (open) any infinite treasure or bronze caches that you loot (disabled by default)
  • updated - (timerunning) mailbox auto send has been disabled
  • updated - category for some items

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

Alphabetical Sort in Custom Bags?

First off, great mod. Thanks for updating it for the recent release!

I've setup all my bags for equipment, consumables, etc. and it all works fine. Is there a way that you could add alphabetical sorting within these bags? Often I have several stacks of the same item but I don't notice it without a very close search of the entire contents. If the items in the bags were sorted alphabetically, then all like items would be grouped together.

enable sorting? by deafult its bag+slot but you can change to to use defined and then select how you want them sorted.

I believe the code in ArkInventory.ItemCategoryGetPrimary should be modified so that if the slot is empty, a rule category can still be determined. And as part of this, "empty" could be put back in the rule functions. This makes it possible to have a profile to group your bags, a bar per bag.

I would like second this "request". The bag() function used to move that bag's empty slots as well as it's contents to whatever bar you assigned it too. As of 3.0.2, it no longer does this. I'm not sure what the reasoning for the change is, but it would be great if it could be changed back. I like to assign one bag per bar, same as sireebob.

The following instructions/code snippets implement the changes I have requested.

First, regarding the "bag" function not including empty slots.. In ArkInventory.lua, replace the ArkInventory.ItemCategoryGetPrimary function with the following:

And ArkInventoryRules.lua, find the line that begins with "--empty" and replace it with "empty".


There is also an issue I've mentioned earlier in which having "Use Bag Icon" unchecked causes bag slots to appear white, and here's the fix for that.

In ArkInventory.lua, in the ArkInventory.Frame_Item_Update function, underneath "ArkInventory.Frame_Item_Update_Cooldown( frame )", insert the line:

Then, in the ArkInventory.Frame_Bar_DrawItems function, underneath "ArkInventory.Frame_Item_Update_Cooldown( obj )", insert the line:

There is one last modification I've made to ArkInventory which I find useful. It allows you to have identical items sorted so that the largest stack comes first, rather than the default in which the smallest comes first. When enabling this sorting option, empty slots are moved to the end of the bar. These two effects may be better kept as separate options, but in this patch I've combined them into one: "Bigger stacks first".

The "Bigger stacks first" patch was created with the GNU diff utility for Windows and can be downloaded or viewed here: http://pastebin.com/f11b29053

It can be applied with the GNU patch utility, with the following command in the AddOns folder:

Replace <patch_file> with the name you save the patch as. Unfortunately, I was only able to provide English localization.

But that's not particularly end user-friendly, so I'm hoping if the author approves he'll just implement it.

Update: Another fix, this one solves the problem where empty slots of all kinds are grouped together despite your settings when working in Offline mode. Download View

it was an issue with categories being assigned to empty slots, it would screw things up. i can possibly bypass empty slot checking just for rules but i'll need to check how easy it is to recode.

it's also possible that the way i've changed empty slot id's internally may help.

the update cooldown function was setting the textures to white for empty slots.

SetItemButtonTextureVertexColor( frame, 1, 1, 1 )

that line should not have been there. just comment that out instead until the next version and i'll look at the rest of it later.

There are already a lot of request concerning 'Highlighting of search items'.
I just wanted to add my voice that I would urgently need this feature.

I hope you find the time to implement it.


Perhaps it is easier (or faster) to code if you add a simple inputbox to each main window (like: bank, bags), and the the search is then just searching the current window. This would remove the need for checks if the clicked item is visible in some open window, since the current window is always open

Is the "new item" indicator gone?

First of all, big thx for a great addon ;-)

With the patch it seems that one of the nice features have gone away - the ability to indicate, that the item that landed in my bag is new. New items are somehow not indicated anymore, nor can I find the place in the menus to toggle it on/off.

Is that feature not part of the addon anymore, or is it somehow just broken?
