ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • changed - currency scans will now only be skipped if youre in an actual dragon race, not just mounted.
  • changed - all collection scanning will now be skipped during dragonriding races. it will re-scan once the race is over (if needed).
  • added - category system > openable
  • added - category consumable > professions - knowledge (it used to fall back into power systems (old))
  • added - (timerunning) config > general > actions > use - will automatically use (open) any infinite treasure or bronze caches that you loot (disabled by default)
  • updated - (timerunning) mailbox auto send has been disabled
  • updated - category for some items

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

If you right click on the items in edit mode you can add them to any category.

Another unrelated item: Is there a possible way to color the entire item if it is unusable (like a red shade on the icon)? I would love to have this for bank and guildbank items.

i'm adding option to stop monitoring the mailbox as well as bucketing mailbox events to only update AI every second (instead of every change) - it should alleviate some of the memory issues people are getting at mailboxes

I get several returns of gold in my mail box from the auction house. There is a button that will retrieve all cash from the mail box or another one that will retrieve all items inside the mail box. This causes ArkInventory to eat up around 100MB in RAM. This also occurs when i mail large quantities to a bank alt using blizzard's own mail outbox.

Could you write in some rules for the Fishing poles, Mining tools, and other Prof Specific items so they can be separated from non-soulbound items? I keep selling them as they're in that category. LOL

Ark Inventory Bug Fix Alert

"ArkInventroy: Alert! Bug fix complete. The FrameLevel for the Bag window is currently at 130 and has been reset to 2 to ensure it remains functional. Sorry for the lag spike caused by the fix."

I get this error message on my chat window in WoW everytime i open my bag. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

With the latest update the button for "show keyring" and bank is gone, I am gathering it was moved somewhere.. but where?

EDIT: I finally found the button that has the keyring and bank listed.

unfortunately you cant, (i dont know if anyone can) theres appears to be a problem in one of the underlying ace libraries (i presume) as people without ai are getting the same memory issues (lock ups)

i presume ai is not helping the issue because it tends to use a lot of memory for the transient operations and then gives it back.

I am having the same issue, when i quickly right click items from my inventory into the mail box or guild bank, I get 10-50 MB added (according to performance fu).

A few times i would lock up and crash. Performancefu would show me using 100 MB but it would not pop up a list of addons and their memory usage, so i could not find the exact one, but after doing smaller transfers i saw ArkInventory using alot of memory. During lock the only action i can take is open the chat window. if i type "/g test" nothing happens; if i start out in the guild chat channel and type "test" it outputs it to say instead of guild. I have to open the task manager and end task on wow to close it.

Please tell me how i can help, i can post my email if you prefer.

sorry, I had meant 15mib. As far as I can tell, after playing for a straight 5 hours, it will constantly accrue memory and not release it. Either that, or it accrues more than it releases.

garbage collection is not always instant with lua, but it will get collected eventually. 1.5mib is not a big deal, and nor is it even remotely "huge", when processing a lot of data.

There seems to be a huge memory leak in this addon. I managed to take up 1500 kb of memory with it just by opening and closing the inventory ALOT of times. Some that get allocated when you open (perhaps refresh?) the inventory isnt being released after its closed.

Title Bar doesn't suit

I really like what I've seen in ArkInventory, but while I want access to the ability to switch locations or character, the incredibly oversized title bar , repeated across six open windows, is just a view hog. Is there any intention to set up fubar or a minimap option to toggle such things rather than redoing them with every bar? I truly do not want six humongous font title bars when all I need is a dropdown list of some sort. Adding the little location and character buttons to the baby menu button already on each bar when the title is hidden would work fine too.

Plans? I'm wanting this to work for me but the space overhead to the title bar irks me greatly.
