TradeTabs  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.8.1
by: tardmrr [More]

TradeTabs is a small addon to add spellbook-like tabs to the TradeSkillFrame. It will add one for each of your professions and one for each of the profession "suppliment" abilities (cookfire, disenchant, milling, etc)

It should work in any locale but has only been tested in enUS.

Known Issues:
When the player learns a new profession, TradeTabs does not add a tab for it right away. This is because TradeTabs only populates the list of professions when it loads. The next time you load your interface (/console reloadui) or log into the game, the tab will appear.

v 1.8.1 (2012-8-31)
* Updated for WoW 5.0

v 1.7 (2009-2-19)
* Added support for Prospecting, Milling, Disenchanting and Basic Campfire
* Added redundancy to the loading process to keep from missing being initialized.

v 1.6 (2008-11-24)
* Added support for Runeforging

v 1.5.1 (2008-10-22)
* Fixed Folder structure

v 1.5 (2008-10-21)
* Removed Rogue Poisons since they're gone as well

v 1.5-beta (2008-10-21)
* Drycode update for 3.0

v 1.4 (2008-5-03)
* Added support for Skillet

v 1.3 (2008-4-26)
* Changed the spell detection system to use spell IDs so that localization is now automatic
* Added support for Enchanting and Beast Training

v 1.2 (2007-11-26)

* Fixed a bug that caused no tabs to appear if TradeTabs was loaded before PLAYER_LOGIN or while in combat (or both).
* Added zhTW localization

v 1.1 (2007-11-12)

* Updated for patch 2.3
* Includes a probably broken Korean Localization because I'm 90% sure my text editor hates me.

Yes. I just haven't gotten to it yet. However, it still works for everything but Inscription so you can still use it while you wait for a proper update by checking the Load Out Of Date AddOns box. However, it may be a little screwy with enchanting.

Edit: I got time during a boring class. There you go!

might want to have "TradeTabs-x.x.x.zip\TradeTabs\TradeTabs.lua" as structure instead of just the lua file in the zip

Blame wowi's svn packaging system. (I agree, too lazy to push another update just to fix that, though)

Edit: turns out I was just doing it slightly wrong. Fixed.

Hi,
See the tab for Inscription... Yay!
Not seeing a tab for the Death Knights Rune Forging. Will you be adding a tab for this?

Thanks,
Twidget

runeforging?

I have a DK - who doesn't - that is able to runeforge. However, TradeTabs does not show a tab for it. It works for the other standard professions (smelting, first aid, cooking, etc.). If I open the trade window with Runeforging, I can still do the forging - it is just that no applicable tab shows up.

This is fixed in version 1.6

What a fantastic idea. I'm surprised Blizzard hasn't done this already. I have a feeling after seeing this addon, they'll be implementing something similar in the future.

Cheers!

Hopefully not a silly request, but could you please add some kind of functionality for Milling, Prospecting and others like that? If not by adding a button (cause it's not really a profession), but maybe by giving those professions a right click feature?

• Right clicking on Inscription = Milling on the cursor.

This would seem to be in the same feel the addon is meant to do, but with an extra little touch.

Would greatly appreciate such a feature, and also thank you very much for the nice little addon.

Hmm. That's a neat idea. As long as the maximum number of total skills remains fairly low(you don't want the list of tabs to grow so long that it could potentially extend below the frame), this would be trivial to add with each "disenchant" spell getting its own button.

The second option for using the right click is also an interesting idea, but I wonder how usable it would be. How would someone who didn't know beforehand about that feature respond to encountering it? Would they be confused as to why Right Clicking on certain tabs did something different, or would they even notice?

Some kind of "first time" dialogue perhaps? A "Did you know?" kind of a thing if they have the profession of course. Not to sure really.

I prefer my interface to be self-explanatory. Sometimes to give the user the power you want to give them, it's needed to build a complex interface where something may not be obvious at first. However, I'm not in that situation; this isn't an enormously complex problem so I think an interface that isn't immediately obvious would detract from the overall quality.
