LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

You should read the readme file included with the addon. There are a total of six addon directories you need to install, and it sounds like you just installed the main one.

1. can you add the option that when you click some coordinates they apear on the world map, just like the minimap
2. ther is a plugin for whdb that shows in the tooltip the drop chance and the quest in that the mob is involved ( WHDBTT )
Neither of these things have anything to do with TomTom or LightHeaded. If you want a chance to WHDB.. then you should ask that addon author. I'm not really sure I understand why this is a request for either of my addons..

Thumbs up Re: Re: weird graphics lag and hitching

yes, I think I have also noticed the behavior you mentioned... when I would view a page in LightHeaded it would 'reset' to the original quest info page after a second or two of viewing.

Hopefully Armory will get fixed, there are things I like about it over Altoholic, but until it does I will stay away for now.

Thanks Cladhaire!

The author of those addon needs to learn how to do things correctly, rather than using this terrible incorrect method.

I used to use LightHeaded/Quelevel/DoubleWide combo. I switched to LightHeaded/UberQuest combo, and I have the same problem. As soon as I open the LightHeaded window, I get the same issue.

I'm running at 1680x1050, with a lot of settings turned way up. I turn them all the way down and still have the same problem. I don't believe that I am using any other mods that affect the quest log frame in any way.

I'm going to do some more reading to see if I can come up with an answer in these pages, but I admit I haven't read but a couple pages so far.

If anyone can help, please feel free to comment!

Thanks

UPDATE : I seem to have tracked down the problem mod. It's either Armory or ArmoryGuildBank that was causing the problem. These are not necessaries for me, but at least I can say what the problem was to see if we can get it fixed.

Seems like I just needed to force Lightheaded + the LOD Modules to all load (hit the LOD button to force a load) and then reset the ui to get it to run without relogging.

Sorry, don't know why I thought it needed Ace libraries.
Yeah the addon screens have been kind of borked lately, but LightHeaded HAS to be loaded in order for it to load the LoD modules. Glad things worked out for you.

A few things. My addons have absolutely nothing to do with Ace as far as you are concerned. If you are running a non-standard installation then you will have to help troubleshoot your own issues. Any "Cladhaire" addon will never need another addon to be enabled to work, unless it is a clear-cut dependency. When you are troubleshooting, do not load Ace, or Ace2, or Ace3.. it is just bound to make things more confusing.

That being said, there is an error that is occurring, and you need to help figure out what that is. That means ensuring "Display Lua Errors" is enabled, and running /lh debug to turn on the debug messages in the LightHeaded load routines. Your issues are the first I've ever heard of like this, so please check back.

I would disable Extended Quest Log momentarily and see if you can find/use the frame that way. BEQL is known to work with LightHeaded, I don't know about EQL.
