LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Yes, I agree but I have not decided how this would best be accomplished. It's a non-trivial change to the addon, so I'm a bit hesitant to just "do something", rather than design a proper solution.

Quick question: the latest version doesn't seem to include the folders LightHeaded_Alliance_Data and LightHeaded_Horde_Data. However, I still have these folders in my WoW "Addons" folder. Are they needed, or should I delete them?

Thanks for this addon, Cladhaire, it really helps when questing in a new area.

I'm glad you're trying to figure out how to make this work better with WoW's changes to their (double-paned) Quest tracker. Btw, the ability to change the background alpha of your window, certainly helps since WoW decided to make theirs take up 2/3 of the screen

No, as a matter of fact each time you install LightHeaded you shoudl remove all of those folders and re-unpack them. This ensures you always get the most up-to-date directory structure.

Well, LightHeaded works just fine with the double-paned quest log, are you seeing something different? It doesn't work with the single paned quest detail log, but that's entirely different.

Hi All
First off let me say thank you. I've been using this add on for quite a while and really appreciate your work on it.

Since the latest WoW patch I have been having an issue, all my quests are showing up as "Unknown quest". See the picture below
I have tried deleteing and reinstalling(is that even the correct term?) all the lightheaded directories in my addons dir but the issue has persisted.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks in Advance
Declan

It's almost certainly that the LightHeaded_Data_QIDNames addon is disabled or not installed correctly.

Hey Clad - it's been a while. About 8-9 months for me now!

Anyhow, I installed latest version of LH and TomTom and when I click on a waypoint in LH (DK, level 56... the one for "The Gift that Keeps on Giving", 60.00 30.00 near Acherus), I either get an error or no waypoint shows up.

Any ideas what might be causing that? I can be more specific if you like - perhaps there is a known issue. TomTom and LH are the only addons enabled and it's a no-go

This is what I get when I have cart turned on - if I don't have it turned on, I typically get no waypoint to appear at all.... though one time, I did by clicking on Gothik Harvester's name in the LH panel and then clicking "Back" a bunch of times. I clicked on a coordinate and it worked! But it was telling me some location in Zuldrak.

That would be because you are in the DK starting area, which is technically an instance, and therefore coords do not work. LH has ones from Wrath Alpha.

I'll look into it, but coordinates do not work in the DK starting area and won't until I have a chance to write an entirely new library.. or Astrolabe actually supports it.

OK, will do. That will probably also take care of the "Unknown Quest" behavior, as I see you noted it's caused by an incomplete install.

No, you're right, it functions properly. I just wish there were something we could do to shrink everything down, I guess, since the default quest log is so wide now. Not your fault or your problem though

Comment Updates

The comment parse has not been updated in almost 2 months I was wondering has wowhead blocked this or is there something that the user can do now to get this information?

No, someone just has to ask and I re-run the parse. There's no sense in wasting time and bandwidth when people are happy with what they already have. Is there any particular concern you have?

The information is starting to get a little stale, the new Argent dailies from 3.2 don't have information.

Also was thinking about the changes to the holiday event quests. Also a great and valuable addon. Thanks for making this.

Btw, I deleted all the Lightheaded folders from my WoW/Interface/Addons folder, did a new copy/paste from Lightheaded r297.

Didn't fix the problem, I'm still getting "Unknown Quest" as the title for all of my quests in Lightheaded.
