TomTom is your personal navigation assistant in World of Warcraft. This addon is very simple, but provides a nice set of functionality. Thanks to Esamynn for Astrolabe, which does the bulk of the work in this addon.
TomTom offers the following major features:

/way Nagrand 45 50
/way 14.78 23.90 This is a waypoint!

/wayback
/cway
/closestway

Re: Waypoint Arrow
Can you name a quest you tried setting the waypoint for?

Re: Re: Waypoint Arrow
You need to get another add-on to provide that information to TomTom. I maintain one called wow-pro, but there are others for classic.

Waypoint Arrow
The only time my waypoint arrow appears is when I die. The waypoint shows up to lead me back to my body. When I put my cursor on a quest icon on the world map, it gives the information about the quest. When I try to set a waypoint, no quest waypoint ever appears.
I did a reinstall from Twitch and this did nothing. Any clue what is wrong? |

Yeah, that would be nice. Let me look into it, as the follower quest icon implies that someone has the map position, as it is placed close to where the quest gets accepted. I just need to make sure that touching the OnClick handler does not lead to taint of the map.

TomTom has the ability to set a waypoint when clicking on a quest objective on the map. Would it be possible to support other map objects such as the available quest icons? When I do my daily Nazjatar rounds on my way to the rank 4 essence, I have to manually set a waypoint near the follower daily icons. I can't even click on them to set the waypoint there. If it's not possible to support setting a waypoint clicking on the icon, such as no position data like objectives have, I would at least like the ability to set a manual waypoint at that spot.
Concerning my previous post about my archaeology digsite macro for the curious, I ended up making something more complicated in my personal addon to work around the waypoints not clearing.

Dal is special, it is probably the one place with more names than any other.
Can you do a /tway list on those troublesome toons and post the output?

I've been doing the dailies for so long that I don't really need waypoints and could probably point my mount in the general direction and get there without problem, but...I kinda like knowing how fast I get to some place.
I did end up deleting everything and reinstalling while entering new points. Some of the weirdness has gone away and now both toons are showing similar behavior. However, when I log in either character now, the waypoint arrow pops up with an active waypoint. I'm beginning to wonder if Dal isn't kind of in a "special" location that is messing with TomTom's rules. I haven't yet tried logging out and in while on the ground in some zone without waypoints to see if something pops up. |

Also, Storm Peaks
I take my JC to Storm Peaks, which at least has the chance at finding most of the Frostbitten (?) rares. Mostly the ones I don't have, tho I should check...

Some TomTom options related to waypoints are stored with waypoints themselves and not affected by future option changes. I don't have access to the game ATM to confirm or deny my suspicions, but I strongly suggest rechecking/recreating problematic waypoints first.
Also, it is entirely possible to solve Dalaran JC daylies out of Howling Fjord alone. |

Please explain the behavior I'm seeing
I have numerous toons on multiple servers and am seeing what I consider strange behavior on two of them. I have two Horde toons on two different servers, both doing the Dalaran (Northrend) jewelcrafting dailies. I have the TomTom waypoint arrow configured on both to "Automatically set to next closest waypoint" but the "Allow closest waypoint to be outside the current zone" option unchecked. The "Automatically set waypoint arrow" option is also enabled on both.
Each character has its own waypoint profile and option profile. Both characters have waypoints in the areas where you can collect the various mats needed for the JC dailies. The waypoints are not at the exact same coordinates, but close. Both toons wake up and sleep within the Dalaran (Northrend) jewelcrafting shop and before the sleep (log out) waypoints are cleared from the waypoint arrow. All waypoints have been added using the "/way xx.xx yy.yy name" command when in the appropriate area. All waypoints are saved until I manually remove them. Here's the weirdness...on one toon, when I log in, the waypoint arrow is displayed with a waypoint in Sholazar Basin selected. If I clear the waypoint from the arrow, log out and back in, the arrow is displayed again. If I remove the waypoint, log out and back in, the arrow does NOT pop up with a waypoint from any other zone. If I manually enter a new waypoint in Sholazar at a random location, log out and back in, that waypoint is now displayed by the arrow! As a test, I just entered three waypoints in Sholazar at coords 11.11,11.11; 22.22,22.22; and 33.33,33.33 labeled test1, test2, and test3. Logging out and back caused the first waypoint to be automatically selected. The funny thing is that it was the farthest of the three from my current location, clearly ignoring the "rules" that had been set! If I delete all Sholazar waypoints, log out and back in, the arrow does NOT appear, even if I have the option of selecting waypoints outside the current zone selected. This behavior has now changed. Again, with option of waypoints outside the current zone unchecked and not Sholazar waypoints, the waypoint arrow is displayed, pointing to the FARTHEST waypoint I have. On my other toon, no waypoint arrow is displayed unless I manually set it, even if the outside zone option is set. There seems to be some unstable behavior going on here. I'm wondering if I need to remove TomTom and delete all data and reinstall it? Not a huge deal, just another inconvenience I'd rather not have to deal with. I'd appreciate some feedback on this. Thanks!! |
