Satrina Buff Frames 3  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.1.25
by: Satrina, father0fnine

SBF has a maintainer!
I have to say, I am amazed by the number of people who just kept plugging along. It makes me feel bad that I do not have the time to keep working on this myself - you guys are all awesome! The good news is that a new maintainer has been found. Meet father0fnine, who is taking over SBF. I'm sure you'll all show him as much love as you showed me all these years

SBF 3.2 with clickable buffs

+ SBFOptions will now make the background for names visible when configuring to help you not overlap the icons when positioning (which can cause clicks on icons to not register)

+ Fixed problems with the colour picker

Version 3.1.8

* Added the ability for users to add custom sounds for expiry warnings. See SatrinaBuffFrame/Media/SBFSounds.lua for directions
* When changing SBF profiles, the list of frames shown in ButtonFacade setup will update correctly

* You can now reset the profile for the current character by using /sbf reset

Version 3.1.5
* TOC version has been updated for WoW 3.1
* SBF will no longer allow you to try and flow buffs for different units. (There's no way to make that work without a major code revamp)
* Buff and Name help in non-English localisations has been updated with the current English version. Translators will need to re-translate them
* ha filters should behave a little bit better now
* Vehicle buff frames will update and clear when you exit a vehicle
* Hopefully (hopefully!) the overextending bar thing is gone finally.

* Added vehicle to the list of units for buff frames on the general tab

Two small suggestions:
Iīm playing a hunter and because I kept forgetting to switch back to Aspect of the Hawk after I had to regen mana using Aspect of the Viper I created a Buff frame just to display my AotV buff icon scaled to ten times itīs normal size with 0,2 alpha right in the middle of my screen.

To be able to do this I had to edit the savedvariables for SBF by hand because the menu only allows scaling up to three times normal size. Itīd be nice if I could scale it this large without having to edit a lua outside of the game. Than again, this is really just a bit of an inconvenience and if you decide you donīt want the average user to be able to scale it this large I certainly wonīt complain either.

Also Iīd like to be able to make my AotV icon blink the way buffs do when they expire to make it even more noticeable. The code is already there so itīs just a question of making it available to buffs without them expiring if the user explicitly wants to do so. Itīd be even better if I could linke it to some conditions like having more than 95% mana, but I guess thatīd propably be out of the scope of a buff addon (if itīs even possible). Again Iīd understand if you donīt want do it in order to keep the menu less bloated with options, itīs just something you might consider.

Actually I think Iīll use my idea not only for viper but also to display other (de)buffs I donīt want to miss (eg. infections at Grobbulus or similar) so itīs not a wasted efford for a very limited application.

edit: Actually itīs a bit like addons like Ghost: Pulse, with the one important diffrence - itīs not just a single pulse but persistant until the (de)buff fades.

I'm using the ButtonFacade: Caith skin if that will help you figure it out. Thank you.

ForeverTheGM: It depends on the skin you're using. Some will colour, some will not. It's something I am planning to look into for skins that don't colour as is

Doe: Couple of ways to go about that:

1) Create a frame (say it's frame 4) and on the layout tab set it for two buffs and set its visibility to Never. Now create a filter 4:e. The buffs will still be there, just never actually shown for you (letting you show them later in their own frame by just changing the frame's visibility)

2a) Apply the poison to a blade, then shift+leftclick the buff icon, choose "Do not show this buff" in the dropdown menu

- or -

2b) Go to the Spells tab and find the appropriate poisons in the list (you can type Poison in the Search Spells box to narrow it down). Select each one and check off "Do not show this buff"

Is it possible to add the ability to highlight the border of a button to distinguish between different types of debuffs when ButtonFacade is being used? For example, green for poisons, purple for curses, blue for magic, and etc..

I know it works this way by default without ButtonFacade. Does ButtonFacade have to add support for this to get it to work in the same way?

Found this while cleaning up my WoW directory in preparation for WotLK

Logs\FrameXML.Log:
11/6 06:43:44.171 ++ Loading file Interface\AddOns\SBFOptions\SatrinaBuffFrameOptions.xml
11/6 06:43:44.171 Couldn't find relative frame: SBFOCountSlider

Doesn't seem to impair SBF's functionality, thought you might want to know about it though

That's not good. Somewhere between SBF's saved variables setup/confirmation and the ButtonFacade initialisation, something completely blew away SBF's saved variables table. Can you give a bit of detail on what you were doing when that happened?

Thanks, waiting for next release then

other:

How can I display Beacon of Light? (Just specced my paladin holy) I cast this 60 sec buff on someone and target other people in the meanwhile so I don't know how I can show this :x (and I mean without focus) simple cast it on random party/raidmember and it should show in the assigned frame

If this is even possible

It's a side effect of throttling that needs a small fix. For now, you can just do /sbf throttle 0. Next release will fix that.

does anyone else have this problem?

debuffs do not update (silenced but does not show, only see it because of the errormessage. 1-3 seconds later the debuff icon shows up)

or

used proccs still shown --> backlash (instant shadow bolt or incinerate) charge used but the bufficon shows the remaining duration

but this happens only sometimes, most of the time it works fine

Well, that's a pretty obscure (and nonsensical on the surface!) collision. I'll take a look. Thanks!

Just wanted to drop a line here of something that I came across today. SBF seems to have a conflict with Chatterbox (or the other way around). Either way, in chatterbox, with SBF active, one of the tabs becomes unselectable. No idea why but I will be posting this issue for the addon author of Chatterbox as well so that it might help getting it solved. I love both the addons and wouldn't want to have to seek out replacements for either.

Thank you for your time.
