SBF has a maintainer!
I have to say, I am amazed by the number of people who just kept plugging along. It makes me feel bad that I do not have the time to keep working on this myself - you guys are all awesome! The good news is that a new maintainer has been found. Meet father0fnine, who is taking over SBF. I'm sure you'll all show him as much love as you showed me all these years

Note that the to totem is useful only for the shaman dropping totems. It's meant to mimic totem minding addons.
If you're receiving totems effects, you want to use the n~totem and n!~totem filters on blacklist/whitelist as necessary. Of course, if the effect you gain from the totem doesn't have the word totem in it, that won't work. For example, Windfury Totem gives everyone the buff "Windfury Totem", while Mana Spring Totem gives everyone the buff "Mana Spring". Expanding the function of the to filter is on the list of things to do.

The options menu seems pretty broken on this version, frames are stuck in config mode and the options gui doesn't appear but throws this error instead whenever i use the /sbf options command:

3.1.13 is up!
Main highlights: The stack count bug with vehicles is fixed, but you now need to have some frame that shows your vehicle's buffs since they will not be (erroneously) mixed in with your own buffs. You could always do that by making a frame that is set to the vehicle unit. You can now have any frame that is a player frame that is showing buffs and is a blacklist show your vehicle's buffs instead of your own with the vehicle checkbox on the General tab. The new vehicle (v) filter will mostly be useful with target frames. Bunch of new visibility options, and a few new miscellaneous filters. Your name and tooltip filters should work with !~ now. Spellsteal filter (s) works correctly now. As a hint, remember that you can only steal buffs from your enemies.

Ah ok. What is an r or R filter? blacklist/whitelist?
As for the other addons... my guess is TankPoints recalculates on every new event. I don't know wth ItemRack or ArkInventory is trying to do. ArkInventory freezes me for a second or two when I open it or click refresh to reorganize everything, but that really doesn't account for all that background cpu time. *shrug* A question about SBF: How does 'Buff Flowing' work? If I have two frames, Frame1 limited to 2 buffs, Frame2 to 40, how can I get the extra stuff from Frame1 to go to Frame2 without Frame2 also duplicating those buffs? |

I can't speak for anyone else's buff addon, but yes you will always find SBF near the top of your CPU usage lists, particularly in instances. There are a few reasons for this:
- SBF updates every 0.2 seconds in combat by default. You can change this with /sbf throttle, but I'm betting that you would find that it refreshes "too slowly" when slowing the throttle value - People like to make a lot of frames. More frames = more things to update in a cycle = more time - As soon as you put in an r or R filter, you are immediately increasing the amount of CPU time used since SBF now has to check every effect available to the frame(s) that have those filters to make effects appear or not appear correctly and in a timely manner (about every half second) - Update cycles for frames with bars happen on every OnUpdate (that is, if you have 100FPS, the bars update 100 times/sec) - Update cycles for timers happen every half second, (but can be toggled to tenths of a second for warlocks who need to see that DoT end precisely - but again this costs you cpu time) I do spend a great deal of time profiling the code to make it as fast as possible when updating, but I doubt it will never be out of your top 5. I have some things in mind to help out, and am always looking at the code for more optimisations. For example, I plan to at some point adjust bar refresh with framerate since it's probably overkill to update them 100/sec. Also, tying bar refresh to effect duration as well: I can afford to skip 3 or 4 or 5 updates of the bar length for a flask, whereas a 12 second thing needs to be updated much more often so the bar doesn't go clunkclunkclunk as it counts down. Personally, I'd be more inclined to wonder why an inventory addon or TankPoints is taking up nearly as much CPU time as something you can visibly see updating all the time!

cpu time
Hi Satrina,
Love this addon. I've been trying to make my UI more cpu efficient, and recently ran Addon Profiler during a dungeon run. I was surprised to find SBF at the top of the list for CPU time. Is this expected of an aura tracker? ![]() |

Menkt - 3.1.13 will be a lot friendlier for vehicle and pet effects
Teksha - make more frames wurzelpete - Blizzard has a bad habit of occasionally duplicating effect names. I'll take a look at the tt filter, since it should work for you that way. NarusegawaNaru - if (buff.auraType == self.ENCHANT) then ... EllissDee - Yeah, the game client also tells my mage that I can remove Recently Bandaged. There's some funny bugs in the client that way. Not much I can do about it. Hopefully they'll fix that at some point. Naboo9 - You're running up against limitations imposed by the game client. Some auras from the environment such as Wintergrasp are attributed to the player as the caster. That doesn't make any sense to me either. I've submitted a request for that to get changed, we'll see if it happens. There may be a bug with negating the n filter based on what you're saying, so I'll check that. Also, in 3.1.13 you may find that some environment effect can be filtered correctly. Anferny8 - If you're a shaman, use the to filter. If you're receiving the totems, right now you'd have to use the tt filter which seems to have a bug that needs fixing.

First off wanted to say I love your buff frame mod.
I hate to bug you, and I'm sure you get this often. I was wondering how I would go about having a buff bar show only totems? I tried c and tt!~totem, also tried a and c. Still couldn't figure it out :*( |

issue with auras
Thanks for the effort you have this mod. I've been using it for a couple weeks now, and it's been a challenge learning how to use it, but it's really improved my ability to monitor what's going on with my buffs in a raid.
Here's the situation as it relates to my question below: I'm trying to split up my auras into 2 bars. One that shows my own auras (things like mounts, druid forms, etc) along with my personal buffs, and a second that shows auras from other classes and the environment (retribution aura, essence of wintergrasp, cozy fire, etc). I have been doing it the hard way, by setting both bars to whitelist and defining each spell. This of course is time consuming, occasionally inaccurate (as I wait for the list to be populated), and not a very friendly system to copy the settings to an alt. I have just spent the last couple hours looking on your website and trying to figure out how to make this easier, and am still a bit stumped. I attempted on the second bar to use a whitelist filter, and then specifed "a&!my", thinking that it would show all auras but the ones that I cast. However, what this also does is remove all the "environmental auras" that I want to display on this bar. I then tried a series of filters for this bar, including "a" + the auras I didn't want to see, by using the "!" notation - such as n!=moonkin form. This not only doesn't work, but when I include just these 2 filters in the bar, it still shows the moonkin form aura, and also then shows my MoTW and Thorns buffs, even though they are not auras. Some additional guidance on if/how I can accomplish this type of customization would be much appreciated. If you can answer this question, I can likely figure out the answers to some of my others, lol. Thanks for your time.

ha filter
The ha filter on my shaman seems to be showing me magic debuffs, however we cannot cleanse magic debuffs. Am I doing something wrong?
