Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

About the add-on:

The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

About the author:

I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

- DataStore_Crafts: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- This concludes the conversion of all DataStore modules to make them compatible with all versions.

- DataStore_Quests: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.

- DataStore_Reputations: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Containers: Fixed COMMON_NUM_BAG_SLOTS to be NUM_BAG_SLOTS + 1 for retail, and NUM_BAG_SLOTS for non-retail, instead of the opposite.

- Fixed an issue where sorting the bags while the merchant frame is opened would trigger a slow down (Thanks Belazor !)
- DataStore_Containers: Removed an invalid test when closing a bank frame.
- Events : fixed a Lua error when a tracked item like an egg actually hatches.

I just wanted to mention something that I have noticed lately, and perhaps see if others are having the same issue. I am getting notifications that emails are EXPIRING when they are truly only going to be returned to sender (and not getting deleted). Using the mail-to-your-alt tip which allows you to send things away for 30 days, then get returned to you for an additional 30 days, makes it 60 days until the mail is actually deleted. Thaoky An Aku'mai Servant Forum posts: 30 File comments: 19 Uploads: 1	Hi everyone, The skills bug is fixed, upload awaiting admin approval. 5.3.002 (29/05/2013) - Fixed skill levels reported as 0. Note: The problems does not fix itself with this new version. To fully fix it, you need to populate the database with new profession links. To do this, log all your alts one by one, open their tradeskills, and ONLY THEN, open the skills pane in Altoholic to see that this character's skill levels are ok. If not, it is merely a refresh issue. As I said, the problem comes from the format of the profession links which has been changed by Blizzard, reload the whole thing, and you will be fine.

I am having the same problem that two of my eleven characters had their skills decreased to zero for a number of their profession skills. The problem still exists even after updating to the new version.

What?... Since when? You can not login two characters from same account, that's true, but you can login as many different accunts, as you wish.

I don't know why, but since merging my two account into one Battle.net account I got a drop down on the login screen to switch between the two accounts. For no obvious reason i just assumed that i could only use one of them at a time (no I didn't even try).

You are perfectly right and my issue is thereby solved

If I missed it I am sorry to be posting again. My question is: Is it possible to share the information between 2 accounts under one battle.net account? As you are not able to log in to more than one of them at a time, there is no way to request or send information between the 2. Would be awesome if there was a way to merge the information in the 2 separate db's you get locally. Again I hope im not missing anything and bugging you where I should have RTFM Keep up the good work with this addon, it's really a life saver for us Altoholics

This function is not working on my Altoholic and I have deleted the addon and the saved files in the WTF folder. I then reinstalled the addon again using the Curse client. I have gone through and turned everything on in the options, but my characters gear screen still comes up blank. I don't get any error message either there just isn't anything there other than a blank screen. I can see everything that is in their banks and bags on the toons.

Luupin A Murloc Raider Forum posts: 6 File comments: 4 Uploads: 0	I am having a strange issue occuring with Altoholic on one of my computers: The Skills view does not populate the skills for all of my toons For instance: Toons A, C, D are missing their skills values Toons B, E, F shows the skills values When Toons A, C or D login, all player skills are empty When Toons B, E or F login, they only see Toons B, E and F with Skill values populated I have uninstalled Altoholic, verified files were removed, deleted the WoW Cache folder, then re-intalled Altoholic followed by logging in to all the toons and going through each area to repopulate the Data Store values. The above actions made no difference. The same toons that have skill values, have them the second time around while those that don't, match the ones that didn't show before. My other computer (both running Windows 7 64-bit) does not have this problem. All toons have skill values filled in. I'm stumped.

Sort what?

Being able to sort the summary tab by faction would be nice so that the totals for Alliance characters are separate from the totals for Horde characters.
