Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

About the add-on:

The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

About the author:

I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

Current Issues:

2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

- DataStore_Crafts: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- This concludes the conversion of all DataStore modules to make them compatible with all versions.

- DataStore_Quests: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Talents: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Reputations: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Containers: Fixed COMMON_NUM_BAG_SLOTS to be NUM_BAG_SLOTS + 1 for retail, and NUM_BAG_SLOTS for non-retail, instead of the opposite.

- Fixed an issue where sorting the bags while the merchant frame is opened would trigger a slow down (Thanks Belazor !)
- DataStore_Containers: Removed an invalid test when closing a bank frame.
- Events : fixed a Lua error when a tracked item like an egg actually hatches.

I am not a technical person. So, I apologize but can anyone out there give me some help with how to get rid of old guilds I belonged to in the past from this addon? Example issue I'm having is when I search for an item, It gives me everything current plus what was in the guild bank from the past guilds. I'd love to be able to take this information out. Thank you ahead of time for whatever assistance you can give me!

menace97 Premium Member Forum posts: 4 File comments: 101 Uploads: 0	agenda time-restricted recipes love altoholic thaoky! i have been having one strange issue lately though. in regards to the 'agenda' tab, i have a character with the profession inscription, which has a time-restricted recipe (minor inscription research). for some reason, i receive messages saying it will be ready.... [2 hours earlier than it should be]. so at midnight the recipe resets itself, but i play on a server that is 2 hours behind (so at 12am realm time it is 10pm local time). is there anything i can change to address this issue of being off by 2 hours? if not, would you consider changing the pertaining code on the next revision? thank you for your time and dedication! <posted on curse as well, i wasn't sure which one you call 'home'>

However I seem to be having trouble with one character whose profession just doesn't seem to update with a single known recipe (Fine Leather Gloves). My other characters' profs seem OK. Is there any way I can force Altoholic to reread a profession for one char? Or perhaps delete either all professions registered in Altoholic, or delete data for the character that I'm having trouble with? ------ Update: deleting Saved Variables/DataStore_Crafts.lua and opening all my crafts on all my toons seems to have solved it. (Although for some toons I had to actually click on a recipe in the craft window to get Altoholic to update - Perhaps Skillet messes things up?) Last edited by Korelock : 11-19-11 at 12:05 PM.

It tracks nearly everything I need tracked. The only real problem that I have is that I have more toons per server than Altoholic has room for across the top of several pages. I know I can choose from the drop down to select other toons, but the problem is that I have "sets" of toons doing different achievements, or traipsing around collecting different sets, or in different armor brackets. So each time I'm working with a different set, I have to go through and reconfigure the top of each sheet. What I was wondering was if there is a way to include some kind of profile setting that tracks which toons are at the top of each page. Then all I would have to do is match the profile to the toon set I'm working on at the time. To be honest, I'm not sure if this is possible or even if I am explaining myself very well. Regardless, this is an awesome add on. Thanks for all the hard work on it.

Ok, so... really dumb question, but I have hinestly been trying to figure it out and can't find it (probably right under my nose). Anyway, how do I delete old guilds that I'm no longer in? I'm tired of seeing them appear in the tool-tip.

In Notepad++ press CTRL+SHIFT+F, search for your old guild name, replace with new guild name (or leave blank and just search first to see if everything works), set the filter to datastore*.lua and the directory to WoW\WTF\Account\youraccountname\SavedVariables.
Hit the search button and check if it finds the guild name in the DataStore.lua, _Characters, _Containers, _Inventory, _Reputation. If everything looks fine bring up the search again and replace the text.

Angsta A Kobold Labourer Forum posts: 0 File comments: 0 Uploads: 0	Having problems with reviewing my talent builds I tried to view my talent builds for all toons, and even compare with other friends builds, and apparently there is an option missing to look at my builds, or, just is not functioning. I cursor-over the Tree on a hill with stars behind it, to select the build I want to review through Altoholic, on whatever toon I selected to review. I can view the Glyphs (except Glyph of Dark Succor, which Blizzard had broken and tried to fix), just not any of the talent builds themselves. After reviewing the addons I have and comparing those with my friends addons, and all the settings of Altoholic, we both have the same things going on, with the exception of, he doesn't have AtlasLoot, at all. What do I need to do to make this function work, because he can do it, but I can't? Edited: I can also view all my characters' professions, to include all the recipes/patterns/etc they know, mail that I haven't even seen myself on another toon as it was mailed while I was on a different toon when it was mailed and haven't switched, etc. I can also view all the spells and abilities for all my characters from the Altoholic Spellbook.
