    Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

    Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.


    IMPORTANT NOTE:

    I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

    If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

    This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua



    About the add-on:

    The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

    About the author:

    I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

    I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

    Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

    2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

    IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
    This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

    There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
    Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

    - DataStore_Stats : Fixed a lua error when doing a /reload or visiting the Great Vault (Thanks GovtGeek !).
    - DataStore_Quests : Added generic GetQuestLink.
    - Grids tab: Added a quest link tooltip when mousing over a quest name in the "Quests" category.
    - Summary tab -> currencies : added support for the Undercoin currency.
    - Fixed max level default option still at 70 instead of 80 (Thanks Evoelise !).

    - DataStore_Containers : Added proper support to delete a guild bank.
    - DataStore_Containers : Fixed a lua error when changing the settings of an account bank tab.
    - DataStore_Containers : Fixed an issue that deletes the content of the reagent bank at logon.
    - DataStore_Inventory : Fixed average item level not being properly updated.

    - Fixed a tooltip issue that prevented "Could be stored on" message to be displayed when mousing over reagents.
    - Summary tab: updated the level filter to support levels up to 80.
    - Trader's Tender is now recognized as an account-wide currency, and no additional data is listed in its currency tooltip.
    - Added early support for TWW currencies.
    - DataStore_Currencies : Transfer of currencies is now properly supported.
    - DataStore_Containers : Added support for the warband bank.
    - Added the warband bank item count in the tooltip.

    Did you maybe update the addon while the game was running ? "events" is a file that wasn't in the previous version. Make sure you see events.lua in the altoholic folder (this would indicate a valid archive+install), and restart wow to be sure.

    I will release later today. I have no idea yet what is causing DS_Achievements to cause a DC (it's been working fine for a very long time).

    Until I release, everything related to communication won't be working.

    EDIT: 4.1.001 uploaded. DC issue not fixed yet, but under investigation as I'm writing.

    EDIT 2: I re-uploaded the archive, the DC issue is now fixed ! If you downloaded 4.1.001 a few minutes ago, please get the updated file !

    didnt see a search function here, but is it possible to add timezone detection into the mod?

    right now i play on different servers and the warnings for calender events are always displayed at current server time instead of target server time.

    This was reported earlier and not strictly related to 4.1.
    Try disabling DS_Achievements.

    datastore_achievements slowness
    I finally got a few minutes to track down an issue I have been having where I zone or resurrect and have a 15-20 second pause (spinning beach ball on a mac). After enabling and disabling addons I finally tracked it down to the datastore_achievements addon which altoholic is installing.

    For giggles I also installed the latest "alpha" (r110) and it made no difference. As soon as I disable datastore_achievements my zone time drops from 25-30 seconds down to 4-5. I don't get any LUA errors.

    I also told curse to download datastore_achievements separately and to use the latest alpha (r13) and it made no difference.

    I have deleted my database files several times in case of corruption etc and again no difference it still takes 15-20 seconds longer to zone or resurrect.
