(Karma was originally created by Aveasau, and first resurrected by Endareth, and currently kept alive by Kärbär from EU-Proudmoore)
This is from now on a loosely maintained addon, as I currently don't play actively at this time.
Karma - player tracking
----------------------------------
If you know you met this player once before but can't remember if s/he was good or bad... Karma is for you.
Karma allows you to track where you hung around with other people, what quests you completed (or just made progress) with them, and you can add notes for specific information worth remembering (the good, the bad and the ugly...)
And the Karma value is for your overall impression, how much you liked grouping with them. (E.g. you can sort the list of people you met by the Karma value, so the "nicer" people are listed first.)
It adds a minimap button which you can left-click to open the main window, middle-click to open the new LFM window. (You can also configure a key mapping for that in the normal keyboard configuration of WoW. Personally, I use shift-K/shift-L.)
It also got some LDB support in version 30102.D (but I never tried it on large raids to see if the tooltip is not too large - your mileage may vary).
(KarmaTrans is a helper AddOn to store extra stuff. You don't need to enable it usually.)

For instance, Guild member "X" groups with a healer, name "n", when "X" rates "n" through the addon, the only data being transmitted is name, level, class, rating point assignment, and maybe a short comment ("Excellent healer"). This note is added to the guild database through the broadcast channel and if a member was not online at that time, they do not receive the note unless they make a manual request, or, possibly target or group with that person in the future when the addon then makes the request. When guild member "Y" quests with "n", they make a rating change, and edit the note on "n". At this point only the RP change, level difference, and possibly the note change, is broadcast and updates all members data. The ratings, I think, would remain a kind of global thing; You may give or take away a limited number of points from the global rating. And if someone ever hit 100, have the recruiters all over them ![]() EDIT: Just had a thought, if each members system became part of the database, the only way to keep track of the point assignments and make them jive with each other would be to append additional info, such as date/time or something similar, or a code for that members addon and the change made; This way when info is received the database can check against itself to see if that change has already been made. NEW EDIT: Just found a mod similar to what I was looking for...some of the code might help with what you are trying to do; it is called DoIKnowYou from WoWAce...also available on Curse.

3.0.x-compatible version is up. Hopefully I catched all the changes that were made by Blizzard. Bugreports are, as always, welcome. (Useful ones even more...

Filter?
I totally don't get the 'filter' thing.
Here's a scenario: I just finished a group and want to write some notes for the players I was just with. Except I or they have already left the group, and now I have to find their name among the huge list of names already stored. So I start by typing a few letters of their name in the filter thing, and the list disappears to nothing. I read some notes in the Karma UI and it claims that typing "n-<name>" should filter by whatever I type.. but that doesn't work either. No matter what I type after "n-" the list always shrinks to nothing. In fact, if I type exactly 1 letter in the filter dialog, I always get exactly 1 name appear in the list; and the name is always whatever name just happens to be highlighted. I just don't get it... Another thing, it would be handy to have a quick and easy way to re-order the list of names. For example, I would like to order the names by the time I most recently grouped with them. That way I can easily find the people I just grouped with. And then go back to order by their karma score. |

Re: Filter?
![]() I'll put it on my list to automatically convert to uppercase when necessary and possible - the latter is the reason why I didn't do it yet: it doesn't work well outside ASCII. (äéòûñ e.g. are not that simple...)

OK I am using uppercase letters now and it works, thanks!
If the search was not case-sensitive, that would be great ![]() Any chance of modifying the LFG window to show a player's karma score? If I'm looking to add players to my group, I would like to know whether I've grouped with them before or not. |
