I have been looking for a mod to auto loot profession windows. For example I want to auto loot whenever I skin something or mine something etc... So after looking for some time with out much luck I stumbled across FastDisenchant by masahikotao. This seemed to do the trick, but it only dealt with disenchanting and prospecting. I decided that wasn't good enough and put my limited coding knowledge to work with my friend to make it work with other professions. Thus looter was born. Though I admit while messing around with the code we came up with several other features we think would be great to add if we can figure out how. Its if far from being a final product, but we figured we would get an alpha release version out to start things off.
*
1.1.8 Released.
See the Changelog for details.
As always, keep a watch on the Portal for more information.
*
Note: Short of thinking of something else, this will one of the last updates to the Looter mod itself, to keep it a nice small and lightweight but does what you want looting mod. Next in line is titan/fubar support (which might be another mod, such as how bankitems does, depending on size of the change) and WoTLK compatibility.
Further "extra" features that will enhance Looter such as been discussed before, such as possibly Loot/Rolling based on wish list in Atlas Loot, or Auctioneer values, and so on, will most likely be turned into another mod such as "LooterExtras" which will require Looter but be an optional addon for those that want the extra features and don't mind the extra memory/performance hit they might cause (again see readme for details).
* Added looting of Quest items (updated as of 1.0.4, see readme)
* Quest item loot list updated on login automatically
* Added /looter add, and /looter remove for adding or removing the mouseovered item to the custom loot list.
* Added looting by item value, read readme for details
* See change log for more details.
* Minimap button is now hideable and showable via slash command or menu option
* Looter will now automatically reset and update the saved settings if the version (or lack of version for even older versions) is older then the current version. This will fix most problems related to having older settings that don't have the new toggles added in later versions.
* Fixed 3 outstanding bugs (listed at the portal below, see there or the changelog for details)
* Should now be fully WoTLK compatible.
Made an author portal at This link where people can more easily post any bug reports or feature requests and easily track them.
Current version:
Working slash command system, using /looter.
Using the above, you can toggle any of the current looting options on or off.
*Added /looter list custom, to list whats in the custom loot list (see gui)
*Added /looter toggle status, to see whats toggled on or off
*Added /looter version, to see what the current version is
*Added /looter reset, to reset the toggles back to default and clear the custom loot list
*Added /looter clear, to clear the custom loot list (and hence not /looter reset, which resets the toggles, or needing to remove each item yourself)
Working Menu/GUI, for now use /looter open menu to access.
Can use the new menu to visually see whats enabled or disabled, as well as change them from the menu, also can use the menu to add items you wish to loot automatically to the custom loot list and click the display button to see whats in there so far.
Working saved options, all toggle options and the custom loot list will now be saved between sessions for each individual character.
Working Minimap button, place it where you want it, and you can left click it to open the menu or right click it to update your quest item loot list (see readme)
Next in line:
TBD
*Loots Prospecting window
*Loots Milling window
*Loots Disenchanting window
*Loots Mining window
*Loots Skinning Window (think its a fairly complete list let me know if you see something that wasnt looted.)
*Loots Herbalism window
*Loots Tailoring window
*Loots Fish, from the Fishing window
*Loots Health and/or Mana Potions
*Loots Battleground items (see readme for more details)
*Loots Quest items (see readme for update details)
*Loots Items if a certain value (if enabled, see readme for details)
Coming soon:
*Localizations
*And more for a full list (or at least current full list) read the included readme.
Should work fine with mods that change the loot frame such as xloot.

I haven't updated to this version yet (yay at work)...Have you fixed the issue of Looter not autolooting the Jewelcrafting daily quest items?
I have to either hold shift to loot everything, or manually right click the items to loot. Haven't had much luck getting Looter to autoloot. |

But question about these items, which daily quest items are you having the problems with? Are they the 'shipment' items? If so that would be because the base items are not actually listed on the quest as being part of the quest (to the code, as they are not individual objectives that complete when you get one) only the 'finished' item is. I can add a 'scanner' to detect these items, but I have not as I didn't want to add something of that sort which would add a fair bit of memory/processor use when what I have catches most cases of quest items and for what it doesn't there is always /looter add (will get a better way such as 'insert-key-here' clicking to add to the list someday). Edit/Update: And I just released a new version which I did a fairly major rewrite of the quest item looting code, so please try it out and let me know if you have any more problems with quest item looting.

Autoloot While In Combat?
I have noticed that Looter will not auto-loot if I am in combat. Is there a way to change this? I looked in the options, but didn'st see anything.
Thanks, BJR |

Have you posted on the official mod forums at all? Seems a weird thing to protect, and it suuucks. Looting in combat is very handy sometimes. |

Couple of things I've noticed just quickly.
Is there a way you can include a filter to turn off the red text for items that are being rolled for? (With greens/blues/epics, you get the "this item is still being rolled for" red text). Also, Dragon's Eyes from Icy Prisms don't auto loot. Thanks! |

Hey EV! Let me apologize right up front here for the upcoming newbish questions, assumptions, and general confusion. Also for the huge message... I'm a rambler. gvsd65*giggle*
I downloaded Looter a few months ago hoping it would help me with farming for cloth, and other things as I needed them. But I downloaded a couple of other addons for looting too and I wasn't really sure what any of them did, exactly, or how they worked. Aaaand then I got sick and haven't been able to play much for a long while. Plus, I was having some issues and ended up turning off all 3 addons cuz I didn't know which was causing the trouble. Anyway, I've gotten rid of the other two. I don't think they're gonna help me at all. Yours sounds like it's probably what I need. But, the problem is, I'm not sure exactly what yours does and how it works. Lemme 'splain what I'm wanting. I want something that will Loot the items that I want, and ONLY those items, without bogging me down with a bunch of unnecessary stuff. Example: I go to southern Stranglethorn Vale once in a while to slaughter loads of pirates in search of that ever elusive Hyacinth Macaw. (One day it WILL be mine!) While there, I want to loot cloth, money, and the pet... nothing else. Looter seems like it's mostly for looting profession stuff... so like the cloth would fall under that category. But can other things be added to that custom list that I -think- I read about? (heh, it's after 6am and I haven't gone to bed yet. brain = mush) Also, I saw a slash command for resetting the custom list but can you add and remove things individually without having to completely reset the list? So in the above example, could I add the Hyacinth Macaw while I'm farming for it, and then remove it when I'm done for the day while keeping whatever other custom things I'd added to the list? Also, two oddball questions. Firstly, do I set WoW's Interface settings to Auto-Loot, or NOT Auto-Loot, in order to use this addon properly? And when I right-click to loot a mob/enemy/chicken/Thrall's Mom (over-tired = silly), will this addon loot the stuff I've specified in the options, and then close the loot window or will the loot window remain open? Cuz it seems that if you have to move your cursor across the screen to close the loot window, you might as well just manually loot, right? Anyway, sorry for the silliness and insanely noobish questions. Just wanted to understand better how the addon works and how best to use it. =)

You can indeed add whatever you would like to the custom list, either manually (the screenshot of the admittedly outdated options menu shows the input for putting in the name of what you want to loot, display whats in the custom loot list, or remove something from said list) or automatically (mouse over an item and type /looter add or /looter remove) will add or remove it from the list. So you could add the Macaw in manually (since you wouldn't really have the item to mouseover to add the easy way), and then /looter remove while having it mouseovered once you do get it. I have been thinking of adding the ability to put in item numbers like you would get from wowhead or mods that would let you get it in-game (useful extras) and be able to loot that way instead of just full exact name.
As of the moment, it will loot what you've told it to loot and will not close the window (its generally easy enough to hit escape or simply move to close the window without needing to actually click on the close button) because there might be other things on a creature or whatnot that someone may want that aren't automatically grabbed. Like above though I have been thinking of adding an 'use at your own risk' option such as loot everything that wasn't selectively looted and get rid of, for times such as skinning or simply to get rid of the 'still stuff on the corpse' sparkle afterwards. Or simply as you said, loot all the loot that should be looted and close the window option.
