DockingStation (Display)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.5.26 (Beta)
by: Vrul [More]

A display platform for LibDataBroker (LDB) based plug-ins. The display is provided through panels, each having sections (Left, Center, Right) corresponding with how a plugin is justified within it.

All plugins are disabled by default and you must turn on the ones you want to use. This is to avoid the complete mess that results from all plugins being on with the first use. The only plugin on at the start is the one provided by this addon to access its options easily. Just click it to start changing settings.

With plugins unlocked you can drag and drop them to other panels/sections and have them automatically adjust to their new location. There are no limitations on the drag and drop capabilities other than the new location for a plugin must be within a panel. You may also change the location of a plugin through the plugin options menu.

Almost all sub-sections of settings have a default option. The defaults follow a set pattern. First plugins check their settings, if default, they next go to their panel's settings. If the panel is also set to default then it defers to the addon's global settings. Finally, if the global settings are still set to default, then the hard coded defaults are used.

Note: It is recommended that you delete the folder(s) for an existing addon when updating to a different version. This is to keep files that are no longer used from taking up space.

Translators: To submit a translation please just edit existing files (example: DockingStation\Locales\deDE.lua and DockingStation_Config\Locales\deDE.lua) and send them to me.

I like it.

I know it's in beta but I'd like to see more configuration for the plugs mainly text and icon display. I'd assume that is on the to-do list as well as other things.

UIparenting that actually works would be great.

"Posted on wowace aswell."

In the plugin section "Show label" and "show icon" checkbox is greyed out, but show icon still works when clicking on it - show label does not however. Being able to change colors on values would be pretty sweet too.
Finally when changing the alpha it's everything on the bar which turns transparent, including plugins. It should be possible to change background panel color or even make the color transparent.

I really like docking station however. Definately better for me than fortress or buttonbin.

Everything mentioned so far has code in the works or options coming. Some check boxes are actually tri-state. The third state is a greyed out and checked box which, unfortunately, is how a disabled check box looks. The only difference in appearance between the two is a disabled check box's text is also greyed out.

Eventually you will be able to change settings for plugins in the DockingStation and Panels options windows and that third state of the check box indicates to use the next setting up in the chain. So a plugin will first check its settings, then those of the panel its in, and then finally the overall settings. This is to allow for easy mass changing of settings but still enable you to tweak those plugins that don't quite fit in as you'd like.

Some settings were renamed internally so your settings may not port over completely in the new version.

LDB mods that don't work..

I'm not sure if this is a problem with DockingStation or the other mods, but i have a few that don't show up in the Plugins list. They do, however, work with other LDB display mods, such as Fortress...

Broker_HitCrit
Attrition
Bagsy
StatBlock_Money
Volume Control

All can be found in here.

Please take a look.

Regards.

Also, can you add options to input, by text, the various sizes? Particularly, things like width, height and so on... anything that has large decimal increments would be great. Thank you

Panels

Deleting/Adding panels gets screwed up alot when you remove say p4 of 9. Then add another... I don't think they track properly. Right now i have 4 panels that should be active, but i have a 5th panel that just happens to be there.

Also, you might add some numbering information to the panels themselves, when unlocked, so we know which ones we're manipulating easily.

All in all though, well on the way to replacing Fortress. Thanks a ton.

Regards.

The problem with the plugins you listed are all pretty similar. DockingStation checks that a new data object (plugin) is of a supported type and that it has all the required fields of that type.

All but Broker_HitCrit supply this information after object creation, but it is needed upon creation for verification. Until LUA adds a way to predict the future, DockingStation will ignore any data object that fails to meet the minimum requirements of it's type at creation.

The problem with Broker_HitCrit is that it sets the text field (which is required) to an empty string. DockingStation doesn't allow any required field to be non-valid. Because the text field is a string it must contain something other than white-space (non-required string fields aren't subject to this restriction).

Another issue was that only Broker_HitCrit and VolumeControl ever defined what type they were. DockingStation does allow for this since the "standard" has changed over time but the authors of those other plugins may want to fix that any way.

I can reproduce your issue with the panel(s) not deleting properly but haven't had time to look for the cause yet. I do want to change the behavior of unlocked panels/plugins, I just haven't decided exactly what that will be.

Hey Vrul, apart from some plugins not being recognized this is imo the best LDB display out there atm.

I am seeing this as well, the bar can't be sized beyond 1600 (I think?), and doesn't stretch all the way across the screen, is this intended?

Is that happening with the current version? I changed some stuff for that with 0.0.17 that fixed what I could find but I don't play with the UI scale so I could've missed something.

Edit: Just found the problem. I had to comment out a piece of that code when I was changing all the panel configuration stuff and forgot to uncomment it when done. Version 0.0.19 should be ok, let me know if the problem persists with that version please.

Great Addon, finally a real replacement for Fubar.

Just two small bugs:
1. As of 0.0.19 text strings starting or ending with "0" get that zero truncated..
It was quite funny seeing Broker_Clock showing nothing but a ":" or ":00:" with seconds turned on at midnight.
But it is annoying that BugSack is not displayed at all because it's text is only "0" when there are no errors.
2. I started porting my favorite Fubar plugins to LDB and noticed that Tooltips created via Tablet-2.0 don't always show on DockingStation. They do always show on Fortress though...

And one little request:
The idea of enforcing the "standard" is great.
But it would be nice to have a list of the rejected plugins (and perhaps the reason), so users can edit the plugin or file bugs to the original authors.

Thanks for the great work.
