kGo

Version: 0.1
by: Sole [More]

In a nutshell, kGo is an addon which lets you cast those spells and use those items which you use often but don't want to give away a keybind or premium action button slots.

With the press of a keybind, a window will pop. This window will have a user-specified number of rows and buttons. Each one having a spell or item set to it. The user can then use WASD (default) to navigate this grid. The currently selected spell is shown by the redish highlighter. Pressing F (default) will cast that spell or use that item and hide the window. Once you memorize the locations of the spells/items and the button combination enter your muscle memory, then this process will be very quick.

This will only work out of combat. If you happen to enter combat while the window is open, it will close and return your keybinds to normal instantly.

Only set the 'Display kGo Window' keybind in your bindings window. The rest of the bindings are used for the temporary bindings which are used when the frame is shown. Ignore them. They are set automatically when the frame is shown and cleared when it is hidden.

This is very much a beta release. I'm just putting it up to get an initial public opinion. Please do not localize this yet. I will get all that sorted in due time. There is a lot more planned.
Planned:
- A much better look. Trust me.
- More configuration.
- Letting you put macros into the buttons.
- Drag and drop functionality. Open window, drop spells/items/macros into the buttons instead of using the configuration window.
- Second module inspired by GnomeGO. This was the original inspiration for this addon but I decided to put it on the backburner in place of this idea.
- I have a feeling I missed something out. I really should write things down.

i've seen a quick glance of geist and opie, but i didn't really find m usefull enough to actually try out after looking at their screenshots.

Opie, from all i could see on the screenshots, wasn't hiding fully from your screen, but just got faded out, and geist i thought it would get errors since it hasn't been updated for nearly a year.

the only non-updated addon i'm using tbh is MBB, which works imho better than all those other minimap icon hiding/moving addons.

this addon however, is nice, looks good, and fully hides. Its not hard to configure the basic settings, but haven't taken a good look at using of it yet. Installed it, browsed through the options, tinkered a bit with how many buttons you could get on screen, and then due to loads of raiding and work, didn't get time as of yet to furter look into it

Not saying this isn't a good project in and of itself, mind you. Hopefully it'll fix some of the annoying things about Geist which isn't being updated til Wrath comes out.
The second module will be something that hasn't been created yet. Provided I can make it work

But yes I hadn't seen Geist nor OPie.

wow..... there's nothing more i can say, this is an excellent idea and if it works the way you say, you got me hooked to it.

been looking for a neat addon like this for a while now, so i can clean up my action bars from all my professions and other stuff i use, but don't want to have cluttering my action bars.

as soon as i reach my home computer, i'll download and try it
