Archy 1.6.3 Fix  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.2
by: zealvurte [More]

Description:
This is a fan made patch to fix various aspects of Archy 1.6.3 -- the last stable release -- created by daihenka.

It updates Archy to work with 4.0.6, and fixes some performance and graphical issues left behind while daihenka is forced to deal with his own real life issues.

No new features or developments will be made by me on this version, it is simply to fix bugs as and when they are found.

If you wish to download a newer version based on daihenka's 1.7 beta, that is being actively developed by others, please download Archy bugfix instead.

Latest changes:

  • Fixed bug where multiple clicks to loot an articfact node while already looting it would be counted.
  • Improved minimap digsite draw code to correctly handle minimap zooming. Also increased digsite radius to handle larger sites.

Daihenka is the orignal author of Archy, so if you want to help out, please donate to him instead if you enjoy using this patch.

  • Fix 3.2
    • Fixed bug where multiple clicks to loot an articfact node while already looting it would be counted.
    • Improved minimap digsite draw code to correctly handle minimap zooming. Also increased digsite radius to handle larger sites.
  • Fix 3.1
    • Fixed minimap digsite proximity drawing code to correctly handle multiple digsites in a zone and zone-in transitions.
  • Fix 3
    • Replaced tick based minimap updates with OnUpdate code, to create a smooth redraw while moving, similar to other addons.
    • Moved digsite blobs drawn on the minimap down a frame level so they're below other elements on and around the minimap, but on top of the minimap texture itself.
    • Added new code to try and prevent digsites being drawn across the rest of the screen far outside the minimap.*
    • * This is currently set to draw digsites when the player is twice the diameter of the minimap modified by the zoom setting from their center. It should be okay for most average sized digsites, but some larger/longer/wider digsites may not appear when you are inside them until you get closer to the center/zoom out. Please let me know your experiences with and suggestions for this feature and i will try to adjust the distance and other factors in a later update.
  • Fix 2.1
    • Fixed incorrect continent listed for Terrorweb Tunnel Digsite and Plaguewood Digsite
    • Tidied up code to produce a cleaner diff and instructions from scratch.
  • Fix 2
    • Updated Astrolabe library.
    • Deleted redundant Astrolabe library in LibArchaeology.
    • Fixed GetCurrencyInfo usage.
    • Fixed fragment handling code to work with 4.0.6 API changes.
    • Reduced performance issues LibArchaeology when in an out of bound area of the game determined current map with the battlemap open on the same incorrect map.*
    • Improved performance of Archy digsite distance calculation code.
    • Reduced tick rate of Archy minimap and distance updates.
    • Fixed performance issues in Astrolabe when in an out of bound area of the game determined current map with the battlemap open on the same incorrect map.*
    • Added code in Astrolabe to counteract the Blizzard UI spamming WORLD_MAP_UPDATE when in an out of bound area of the game determined current map with the battlemap open on the same incorrect map.*
    • * Because the cause of the mapping related performance issues mentioned above are actually in Blizzard's own UI, a performance drop will still be experienced when the bug appears, but it is no longer as significant as it once was and will cease very quickly now thanks to the Astrolabe additions.
  • Fix 1
    • Updated Ace3 libraries to fix various UI bugs.
    • Fixed GetArchaeologyRaceInfo usage.
    • Fixed Northridge Fossil Field typos.
    • Added new 4.0.6 digsites to LibArchaeology.
    • Added enUS localizations for new 4.0.6 digsites to LibArchaeology.

It's not updating fragments as of 4.2. I still love the lean interface.

Well when testing, Archy runs fine as the only Addon.

Can't say i made use of LibQTip, so that would go untoticed to me afaik, but on a Windows system, it's not case sensitive, so Astrolabe loads fine in Archy.

Np though.

Edit: LibQTip has lib.xml. Just went through them all, and they're all correct except for AceHook-3.0 isn't ever loaded in the ToC. :S

Thought I would give you some examples. If you look at Astrolabe, the current toc for Archy tries to load "load.xml" but the correct file name is "Load.xml"; and with LibQTip-1.0, there is no "lib.xml" but there is a "LibQTip-1.0.lua" ... those where the kinds of load errors I was talking about.

Update: It would suggest you're doing something to AceAddon-3.0, such as having it as a stand alone and not updating it.

The other errors you posted stem from the library not being able to load purely because of that, so it should fix them all.
I noticed that several of the libs are not listed in the toc properly, and thus will not load correctly. I have fixed them in my branch.

As for that translation bug, I will look into it on the development page, because that is fairly major.

hi had some errors
I no longer have an active sub, so i can't test. I thought it was left in a far more stable state than your exerpience would suggest.

I'll take a stab at fix the errors you've posted though and put a new version up.

Update: It would appear you're using a different locale to enUS. I never made changes to the non-en locales, that was planned for the next version. To fix:

Archy\Libs\LibArchaeology-0.1\Localization.<your locale here>.lua
Line 79:
Replace: "Northridge Fossil Filed"
With: "Northridge Fossil Field"

The other errors you posted stem from the library not being able to load purely because of that, so it should fix them all.

version 1.7x ...

It looks like the branch created by cidrei is the only working copy now You can find the latest version from the link posted by me a couple of comments down. Up to bugfix12, although two things:
  • The minimal style may not work correctly, but the graphical style does
  • I got another code suggestion after bugfix12, but don't know if it applies to the minimal style, and I have not tested it yet, so it isn't in the download
Having used the graphical style on patch 4.1, that works for me.

Guessing this isn't related to my 1.6.3 fixes, but the 1.7b8 fixes.

I've cancelled my sub as of two days ago as i've no longer the will to play WoW despite my continued interest in it and Warcraft.

I'm going to release what i have so far, bringing this to 3.2. I probably won't be back to do anymore before Archy is no longer in need of fixes, so if someone else wants to take this over, just contact me.

Upcoming Fixes

Unless i discover more things to fix, i'll be releasing another new version today or tomorrow.

This is mainly a fix for digsite count total behaviour.

I've not seen it documented, but i've long noticed that Night Elf and Dwarf digsites in the Cata zones sometimes allow a total of 4 surveys, not the usual 3, as a sort of bonus for them being the older races i guess.

The fix i'll be releasing is just to add support for specificying zones and races that recieve this bonus, so the total count is displayed correctly.

I need to do more testing to determine if this truely is the case, specific to some digsites only, or just a bug in Archy.

Edit: It's just a bug in Archy, and will be fixed in the next release, along with some performance issues.

Indeed, i decided i'd try my luck on wowinterface, given that it was begining to get unwieldy with writing instructions for novices to update it themselves, posting in comments over at curse, and unable to do anything properly over there because of curse forge's policies preventing unofficial patches like this.
