Cowboy's Auction Search

Version: 20003.003
by: Cowboy [More]

Yet again, I grew tired of doing the same repetitive task, over and over and over. This time it was Auction searches, so here's my answer. Now, any time you do an Auction search, you can save that search into a FuBar-accessible alphabetized list for SUPAR-EASY ONE-CLICK AUCTION SEARCH-O-RAMA!

Each saved search stores the name, level range, rarity, and usable items fields, as well as the state of the filters nav, so you can fully replicate those favorite searches, over and over and over.. and over and over, and over..

If you have the FuBar tooltip detached, it will auto-hide when you're away from the AH. There are a handful of customization options for display, and you can rename and delete any saved searches.

I think this addon is pretty self-explanatory, and should be extremely useful if you do a lot of AH searching. It requires FuBar, and should co-exist just fine with other AH addons like Auctioneer.

Also, thanks to ckknight and the guys in #wowace for their helpful advice!

Note: Because of the way FuBar tooltips are currently handled, the detached tooltip might appear behind the AH frame. If that happens, you'll need to either A) add enough searches to the tooltip to make it grow large enough to be dragged, or B) use an addon like MoveAnything to move the AH frame. (I've asked ckknight for detached tooltip frame strata control)

Revision history:
20003.003 - fixed a minor bug, no functionality changes
20003.002 - fixed a minor bug, added optional "Text" column to the tooltip, the ability to sort the tooltip on any column, and a "Reset auction window" button
20003.001 - initial release

That's a shame, as this is a lovely little addon.

I actually stopped playing WoW a few days after I finished this addon.. so if anyone wants to continue this or any other of my addons, by all means do so.

Is there a way to categorize searches?

I had an addon called AHSearch that recently broke for some reason.

It had a way to categorize searches?

I used to have all my gems in thier own search category, tradeskills in another,
food on another, recipes in another etc...

its much preferable than having 50 searches clog up one window, unsorted.

Thanks, Zidomo. I had actually noticed this error message early in development, but couldn't easily figure out what the cause was at the time.. and I totally forgot about it until you posted. BugSack is a great tool, but can easily become a crutch if the developer isn't paying attention!

So.. after chatting with ckknight and doing some debugging, I noticed that FubarPlugin's auto-detection of the addon folder name (and its setting of the .folderName property, which gets used by :IsLoadOnDemand) breaks when the combined length of the addon folder name and addon lua file is more than 43 characters (44 characters if you include the slash).

This can be worked around by either shortening the addon folder name and/or lua file name, or by setting the .folderName property manually. I chose the latter.

And in the process, I updated all of the libraries to their latest versions.

Enjoy!

This has bugs. It is throwing up an error message at logon consistently with all characters (in the BugSack/BugGrabber mod):

"FuBarPlugin-2.0-31323:813: Usage: IsAddOnLoadOnDemand(index or \"name\")\n<in C code>: ?\nAceEvent-2.0-30806 (Ace2):251: in function `TriggerEvent'\nAceEvent-2.0-30806 (Ace2):997: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\Ace2\\AceEvent-2.0\\AceEvent-2.0.lua:990>\n\n". Disable this mod and the error goes away. Running a giant pile of other Ace2 mods; nothing else brings up an error like this.

Using v20003.002 of Cowboy_AuctionSearch along with standalone dependencies from the Wowace.com SVN instead of what is included in the ZIP (very latest versions of them; I update almost daily with a SVN client). As shown in the error message, am using v31323 of FuBarPlugin-2.0 (commit was yesterday).

This identical error was also occurring when I tried Cowboy_AuctionSearch v20003.002 with the earlier v29795 of FuBarPlugin-2.0 (commit was Mar. 8).

To the previous poster: there is nothing unique about AH search mods . They have been around forever. In the old days there was an Ace 1 mod called "AHFavorites" that had a dropdown list off of the standard AH search box. Currently there is an Ace2 mod called "AHSearch". And more.

But this is the first one I've seen that works from FuBar. Also looks more user-friendly than AHSearch. So it looks promising, once the bugs are out.

Thumbs up You rock!

OH MY GOD YOU ARE BRILLIANT!
You deserve a prize!

I love when people fix the things that are bugging you in wow, and especially when the solution is a Fubar component!

Excellent!
