Ram's UI

Version: 0.2
by: ramtyl [More]

==== v0.2 update ====
-new nameplates
-ouF unitframes
-reflux support
-trimmed down addons for better performance
-more stylized

I've been looking for a long time for an addon compilation that really changed the way the game looked - not in a drastic way - but more a modernization. I finally decided to just jump in and make my own.

The idea was to make something classically stylish. Classic without being entirely boring to look at and ugly, and stylish without being overly minimalistic, glossy, or overdone.

For the most part, this is a leveling UI. I don't have a raid or a pvp toon yet (even though I've been playing since freaking vanilla technically, just never stuck around long enough to hit end-game.)

I hope to keep working on it, create my own artwork and such. As of now, a lot of inspiration comes from RothUI, for the darker Diablo 3 red, brown, black colors and bottom bar, some from AI-art. Basically I'm hoping for some feedback and suggestions.

Thanks for checking it out! - Ram.

Install is standard drag and drop, then rename.
Then /reflux switch Ram's UI (case sensitive)

Resolution is set at 1920x1080 for default. I haven't tested it with lower ones.

Addon List
-Bagnon
-bBuff
-fontain
-jEXP2
-kgpanels
-m_map
-ouF core
-ouF_Mono
-caelnameplates
-MSBT
-ractionbarstyler/ractionbuttonstyler
-rbottombarstyler
-rchat
-sexymap
-tiptac

=== v0.2 ===
-Swapped Docs Nameplates out for caelnameplates for better perfomace
-removed AI-ARt and Aurora
-changed master fonts to MBST Adventure
-added ouF unitframes
-removed bloat addons

=== v0.1 ===
-First release
Optional Files (0)

There may be a few tweaks from here till then. It's a big undertaking to try to figure all of it out from scratch, but I'm gonna force myself to one way or another, haha.
I wish I could understand code enough to create my own UI. I am very good at designing graphics. I've been designing graphics for about 6 years now. I could make some really sick looking designs for UI. I just can't put them into work. I would pay money to have a team that would help me do it. It's always been something I wanted, to make a full on UI package, that doesn't leave anything out, and I'll pay a fee to be allowed to change some things in Carbonite, by asking them to make a version for my UI specifically and paying them for it, and making EVERYTHING styled and suitable for a full on UI creation that will blow peoples minds. I just don't know where to look for people that would wanna do this with me. I like darker styles and colors, kind of like my signature here, which I created.

I'm glad to hear it. The next release I was planning on going in and tweaking for other resolutions, but it's good to know that it's scalable. I may check some of the other lower ones as well on my own so I can actually say it 100% supports other ones.

The actionbars are a combination of addons which could be the issue.

To get them to look right you'd need to install rActionBarStyler, and rBottomBarStyler, as well as the WTF folder for the settings.

If that's already what you're doing, then I'll have to look into a way to make it possible.

Aurora should already be installed actually. The only thing i use AI-art for is to make the unitframes black and the cast bar have a thinner outline, but I'll be replacing those with different addons in my next release.

As for the buff bars, I'm not sure what would cause that. The addon is bBuff, it could be a resolution difference. It's all edited in the lua file too. To get them where I have them I just fiddled with the numbers a bit. Let me know if this works, otherwise I'll update it with a different addon that works for everybody.

I think to get only the orbs we'd have to put in some sort of unitframe addon and hide the player frame. Otherwise I'm not aware of a way to hide them with the default UI.
It's alright. As for Aurora, yeah after I posted that I saw that you have Aurora in there... I disabled bBuff then removed it, because I can't get it to work properly for me. I don't understand LUA... I have a mental disability, I don't know if I am able to understand it. When I try to learn, it hurts.

I tried to add the OUF_Diablo from Zork, and that hid the frame, but I don't think it hid the target frame, and for some reason it created the orbs again, so I had 2 sets of orbs, and 1 set was bigger than the other and was non-movable. I don't know what to do about that. If I could just get that to work right, I'd be all set, I had everything else added from the Roth UI folders.

Note: The UI works on my resolution as well, and I have a 10 inch monitor. So I think we're good on resolution.

Oh okay, well I know exactly what you're using in this, that actually causes alot of CPU usage. Replace AI-Art, instead use http://www.wowinterface.com/download...89-Aurora.html it's actually much smaller than AI-Art and should do everything you would want it to do. If you don't like Aurora, then try Skinner, but it's only on Curse that I could tell.

I also wanna ask, do you know how to hide the default Blizzard Player frame, so I can just use the Orbs?

By the way, for some reason my buffs on the side of the mini-map, are overlapping eachother, I don't know what caused that. I don't have any other addons on here with this compilation.

Right now yes, its just the default, haha.

I'm planning on doing unitframes for groups for the 0.2 version.

I'm guessing the 5 man looks like the blizzard standard + your skin.

Also to move the actual buttons im using ractionbarstyler. Its got a lua config where you can change the positions and overlay the buttons on the background art.

Im definitely trying to tweak it still to make it less memory intense. Im still just exploring the addon world here so any suggestions are appreciated.

I like the Diablo 3 art in it, and currently I'm still using the outdated version of Roth UI, I don't really know how to use what you used, to get the actionbar art to have icons display on it right. But I've always wanted a more as close as possible symmectric design from Diablo 3. Roth UI, has a custom background behind the action bar buttons. I like how this one has the real Diablo 3 ones, but I miss the Orbs. Is it possible to add those back in and maybe use something less memory intensive as AI-Art?
