MyFonts

Version: 1.0-2015062401
by: gmarco [More]

MyFonts

This addon is not developed anymore.
I have changed the name and updated for Legion and up only:
gmFonts

A small addon for changing default UI fonts and/or adding them in LibSharedMedia.

Fonts added:

-- Ace Futurism
"Ace Futurism is a simple techno font inspired by multiple that already exist.
Was initially to be used in a game but the game halted being worked on so I finished up the font and here it is."
http://nalgames.com/fonts/all-fonts/

-- PT Sans
PT Sans is a drop in replacement of Myriad font by Adobe.
It is licensed under the OFL 1.1.

-- Carlito
Carlito is a drop in replacement for Calibri Fonts.
Metrically compatible with the current MS default font Calibri.
It is licensed under the OFL 1.1.

-- Ubuntu
The Ubuntu Font Family are a set of matching new libre/open fonts
in development during 2010-2011. The development is being funded by Canonical Ltd
on behalf the wider Free Software community and the Ubuntu project.
The technical font design work and implementation is being undertaken by Dalton Maag.

-- Comic Neue
Comic Neue is a casual script typeface released in 2014.
It was designed by Craig Rozynski as a more modern, refined version of the ubiquitous, but frequently criticised typeface, Comic Sans.
http://comicneue.com/

-- Calibri
Calibri is a humanist sans-serif typeface family designed by Lucas de Groot.
In Microsoft Office 2007, it replaced Times New Roman as the default typeface in Word
and replaced Arial as the default in PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and WordPad.
It continues to be the default in Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013.
(Calibri are here to emulate tekticles UI fonts. No reasons to have them, being "Carlito" a free drop in replacement, but someone wants Calibri ... so here they are :-)

-- Candara
Candara is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Gary Munch and commissioned by Microsoft.
It is part of the ClearType Font Collection, all starting with the letter C to reflect that they were
designed to work well with Microsoft's ClearType text rendering system. The others are Calibri, Cambria, Consolas, Corbel and Constantia.

-- ExpressWay
Expressway is a sans-serif font family inspired by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s FHWA Series
of Standard Alphabets. For the second half of the 20th Century, it was the font most used on road signs in U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, Spain,Venezuela, the Netherlands, Brazil, Argentina, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Mongolia and New Zealand.
Rather than sticking too closely to government specs, Expressway is a more practical design that still holds on to that old, road sign feeling.
The full family has 7 weights, 2 widths plus italics for a total of 28 styles.
This font includes a license that allows free commercial use: sometimes referred to as a desktop license.

-- Verdana
Verdana is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Matthew Carter for Microsoft Corporation, with hand-hinting done by Thomas Rickner, then at Monotype. The name "Verdana" is based on verdant (something green), and Ana (the name of Howlett's eldest daughter).
According to a study of online fonts by the Software Usability and Research Laboratory at Wichita State University, participants preferred Verdana to be the best overall font choice and it was also perceived as being among the most legible fonts. It is part of Microsoft's TrueType core fonts.

-- Lauren
Lauren is a font developed by Computer Support Corporation.
It is now free for personal use.

Yes, I can imagine the problem.
I never implemented a slider bar because I *never* think about more fonts in game

I'll have to check and fix this iussue, thanks.

3) That would be such wow much awesome ^ ^
I really don't know why it don't work for you, but anyway I have added expressway fonts to MyFonts.

I'll try to upload the addon (which is ready and I am using right now) asap.

Stay tuned :-)

And it seems to block the "Damage font" addons I tryed to use - the damage is always stays same font with MyFonts - can I somehow make it so MyFont will change damage font to what I want or atleast do not block other addons like that?)

Hi,

A few things

1) Do you see your fonts in the dropdown menu of MyFonts ? And can it be used to change all the interface ? So I can understand if it is correctly registred with sharedmedia.

2) Which damagefont addon do you use ?

3) I'll check to update MyFonts to include ExpressWay

Hi,

Thanks for your nice comment.

There is a short answer and a long answer to your question :-)

Let's begin to with the short one:

1)
Put the fonts in the in fonts directory of the addon and then add a line to the addon like:

-- at line 153 you find this code
Lua Code:
  1. if LSM then
  2.     -- "Ace Futurism is a simple techno font inspired by multiple that already exist.
  3.     -- Was initially to be used in a game but the game halted being worked
  4.     -- on so I finished up the font and here it is."
  5.     -- [url]http://nalgames.com/fonts/all-fonts/[/url]
  6.     LSM:Register("font", "Ace Futurism", fontpath .. "Ace_Futurism.ttf")

After it add a line like it:

LSM:Register("font", "My Font Name", fontpath .. "MyFontName.ttf")

with your font name.

In this way you push your font in libsharedmedia and use it as game font later choosing by drop down menu in the interface options.

2) The long answer is different.

You must have the 4 flavours of the same font, i.e for the ubuntu:

Ubuntu-R.ttf --> Regular
Ubuntu-B.ttf --> Bold
Ubuntu-BI.ttf --> BoldItalic
Ubuntu-RI.ttf --> Italic

And then change it in some places in the code. I suggest for this to look to code or to experiment before with the solution with a font with only 1 flavor like in the short solution as above.

Please let me know. :-)
I did the first way and it didnt work (
Added
Code:
LSM:Register("font", "Expressway", fontpath .. "Expressway.ttf")
and put the file into \World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\MyFonts\fonts
and it doesnt show my font in the dropdown menu

upd.
And it seems to block the "Damage font" addons I tryed to use - the damage is always stays same font with MyFonts - can I somehow make it so MyFont will change damage font to what I want or atleast do not block other addons like that?)
