Fizzwidget Disenchant Predictor  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 5.2
by: Gazmik [More]

Enchanters: have you ever tried to accumulate reagents for your latest formula and come away feeling... well, disenchanted? Got Strange Dust when you really wanted Soul? Is that Brilliant Shard just not large enough to satisfy? Suffer no more! Through countless hours of research, I've discovered the scientific laws governing the mystic composition of enchanted items. I just *had* to build a gadget to make use of this knowledge.

My latest invention will help you make sure you always disenchant the right stuff to get the shards, dusts, or essences you need. Simply point it at any such reagent -- or even the reagent requirements listed in your formula book -- and you'll see an instant readout showing what types of items it can be disenchanted from. No more guesswork!*

* Due to fluctuations in the astral plane, disenchanting an item of merely "uncommon" quality will still produce variable results. No one can predict for certain whether you'll get a pile of dust, an essence, or a shard, but thanks to my invention you'll at least know what variety of dust, kind and potency of essence, or luster and size of shard can be produced.

Features

  • Disenchantable items will also show information in their tooltip predicting which types of dust, essence, or shard they can disenchant into.
  • Reagents produced by disenchanting items (a dust, essence, or shard) will show two new lines of information in their tooltips: the first shows which levels of items can be disenchanted to produce the reagent, and the second provides additional info on which types of items are more or less likely to produce the reagent.
  • Also, you can use a chat command to check which types of dust, essence, and shard can be disenchanted from an item of a given level requirement.

v. 5.2 - 2013/03/05
- Updated TOC to indicate compatibility with WoW Patch 5.2.

v. 5.1 - 2012/12/19
- Updated TOC to indicate compatibility with WoW Patch 5.1.
- Fixed an issue where reagents could appear in the tooltip with "gibberish" codes before their names.

v. 5.0.2 - 2012/08/30
- Fixed a "blocked action" error when applying glyphs since WoW Patch 5.0.

v. 5.0.1 - 2012/08/29
- Fixed an error when disenchanting since WoW Patch 5.0.

v. 5.0 - 2012/08/28
- Updated for WoW Patch 5.0 and Mists of Pandaria. (Disenchant tables for Mists of Pandaria items are approximate; please report any incorrect predictions.)
- Fixed incorrect predictions for Greater vs Lesser Cataclysm essences from ilevel 306-311 greens.
- We no longer keep track of a list of non-disenchantable items (those which are green or better but which the game forbids disenchanting; e.g. vendor-purchased PvP gear), as keeping the list up to date proved infeasible. Disenchant Predictor may thus show disenchant reagents for items which the game forbids disenchanting (though it will still remember which items are non-disenchantable once it sees them so identified in-game).
- Updated French localization by Xalenader.

v. 4.3 - 2011/11/29
- Updated TOC to indicate compatibility with WoW Patch 4.3.

v. 4.2 - 2011/06/28
- Updated TOC to indicate compatibility with WoW Patch 4.2.
- Options now default to being shared across all characters; see the Options Profile panel if you'd prefer per-character, per-server, or per-class settings. (This change may not take effect if you already have saved options; choose the Default options profile if you'd prefer this behavior.)

v. 4.1 - 2011/04/26
- Updated TOC to indicate compatibility with WoW Patch 4.1.
- Adjusted disenchant information for Cataclysm greens (re: Lesser vs. Greater Celestial Essence).
- Includes Spanish localization by PatoDaia.

v. 4.0.2 - 2011/02/23
- Adjusted Cataclysm disenchant rates for Uncommon items to match recent patch/hotfix changes.

v. 4.0.1 - 2010/12/12
- Includes disenchant information for Cataclysm items (and fixes related errors).
- Fixes some incorrectly reported disenchant information for other items, including frequency of essence/dust from armor vs weapons.

v. 4.0 - 2010/10/11
- Updated for compatibility with WoW Patch 4.0.1 (and Cataclysm Beta).
- NOTE: Disenchant information for high-level Cataclysm items is not yet available; this will be added in a future update around the release of Cataclysm.

v. 3.3.1 - 2010/04/05
- Fixed an error which could sometimes appear when disenchanting items.

v. 3.3 - 2009/12/08
- Updated TOC to indicate compatibility with WoW Patch 3.3.

v. 3.2 - 2009/08/04
- Updated TOC to indicate compatibility with WoW Patch 3.2.

v. 3.1 - 2009/04/18
- Updated TOC to indicate compatibility with WoW Patch 3.1.
- Now uses Ace3 library for saved settings and options UI (any previously saved preferences will be reset to default).

v. 3.0.2 - 2009/01/29
- Fixed an issue where preferences could fail to be saved between sessions.
- Updated Korean localization from 'chkid'.

v. 3.0.1 - 2008/10/15
- Fixed an issue that could cause disconnects when mousing over items.

v. 3.0 - 2008/10/14
- Updated for compatibility with WoW Patch 3.0 and Wrath of the Lich King.
- Tooltips for reagents now use an inline graphic to indicate which expansion's items they disenchant from.
- Includes preliminary data to support predicting disenchants for Wrath items:
- We don't yet have enough data to predict all Wrath disenchants. Disenchant Predictor will show details in the chat window if you disenchant something that doesn't match its expectations -- send them in so future releases can be more accurate!
- In Wrath content, there's no longer a correlation between items' required level seen in-game and the internal item level that determines disenchant results. So, tooltips for Lesser/Greater Cosmic Essence and Small/Large Dream Shards can only say "disenchants from lower/higher level Wrath items".
- Removed the Auto Loot option, as the one built into WoW works for Disenchanting now.
- Now uses the Interface Options panel for configuration.

Moused over my seventh bag slot (the only empty one), and got the following error:

Interface\Addons\GFW_DisenchantPredictor\GFWTooltip.lua:243: Usage: GetItemInfo (itemID|"name"|"itemlink")

Clearly, that spot in the code does not care for empty bank slots much.

On further investigation, any empty slot causes that same error to occur.

As reported over in the EnchantMe thread by me, there is a conflict between this (the latest version 2.0.2 off your home site) and EnchantMe 2.00.00.

What I wrote in that thread:

"v2.00.00 conflicts with Fizzwidget's Disenchant Predictor (the latest 2.0.2 version of that from Fizzwidget's home site ).

Open EnchantMe (/eme). Click an enchant. The following errors occur:

"GFW_DisenchantPredictor\\GFWTooltip.lua:175: Usage: GetItemInfo(itemID|\"name\"|\"itemlink\")\nGFW_DisenchantPredictor\\GFWTooltip.lua:175: in function `NameFromLink'\nGFW_DisenchantPredictor\\GFWTooltip.lua:216: in function <...erface\\AddOns\\GFW_DisenchantPredictor\\GFWTooltip.lua:215>\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: in function `SetHyperlink'\nEnchantMe\\EnchantMe.lua:16: in function `Tooltip'\n<string>:\"EnchantMe_Line3:OnEnter\":2: in function <[string \"EnchantMe_Line3:OnEnter\"]:1>"

"GFW_DisenchantPredictor\\GFWTooltip.lua:175: Usage: GetItemInfo(itemID|\"name\"|\"itemlink\")\nGFW_DisenchantPredictor\\GFWTooltip.lua:175: in function `NameFromLink'\nGFW_DisenchantPredictor\\GFWTooltip.lua:216: in function <...erface\\AddOns\\GFW_DisenchantPredictor\\GFWTooltip.lua:215>\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: in function `SetHyperlink'\nEnchantMe\\EnchantMe.lua:16: in function `Tooltip'\n<string>:\"EnchantMe_Line9:OnEnter\":2: in function <[string \"EnchantMe_Line9:OnEnter\"]:1>"

and so on. The final string "\"EnchantMe_LineX:OnEnter\":2: in function <[string \"EnchantMe_LineX:OnEnter\"]" is the one that changes with each error.
"

The author of EnchantMe (Maldivia) replied as follows:

"It's not a bug with EnchantMe, it's a bug with Fizzwidget's Disenchant Predictor.

Apparently, the predictor assumes that all links called with GameTooltip:SetHyperlink(..) are item links, which is not the case, as there are enchant links aswell.
"

Hope the mod conflict and/or that bug can be resolved, Gazmik.

A couple errors with the disenchant predictions for uncommon quality (2).

Chance to get Dust/Chance to get Essense from Armor type items
is "exactly" the same as
Chance to get Essense/Chance to get Dust from Weapon type items.

To make it bit more clear:
An iLvl 105 uncommon armor type item (chest, bracer, cloak, shield, ring, trinket etc) will give approx
Arcane Dust 3/4 of times (75%) and Greater Planar Essence 1/4 of times (23% or so) and 2-3% of times Large Prismatic Shard.
An iLvl 105 uncommon weapon type item (sword, dagger, 2h mace, bow, gun xbow etc)
will have main proportions directly reversed:
Greater Planar Essence 3/4 of times (75%), Arcane Dust 1/4 of times, a small percentage of Large Prismatic Shard.

That is not inline with what GFW_DP states on tooltips.
(dust is always considered "most likely" which is not the case)

Also INVTYPE_RANGED is included in both FDP_ArmorTypes and FDP_WeaponTypes tables.
It should only be included in weapontypes.

Changes should be made to FDP_OnTooltipSetItem and the command-handler function to the quality == 2 section.

Thanks for the nice addon (been using for ages) goes without saying

Since the 2.2 patch, the disenchant autoloot hasn't been working for me. I tried to turn it on manually with the slash command, and the status report indicates that it is on.

This is a wonderfully useful mod. Have you considered putting together something like this to predict gems that may result when prospecting ore using the Jewelcraft skill? Thank you for your consideration and efforts!

Seems he fixed the problem, so disregard.

For whatever reason this version seems to disconnect me from the server when I open my bags. This is on a warlock without disenchanting. Don't know if it's that, a conflict with another mod, it trying to link something the server hasn't seen before or what. Going to try the one on Gazmik's site (if there's even a difference...).

I was noticing it in the AH today. I went through a handful of addons to see what was disconnecting me and whenever this is disabled I no longer get disconnected.

Happens on an mage WITH enchanting. As Xeddicus said not to sure what actually causes it. What I can tell you is I checked with JUST this addon and it still crashes.

I tested the crashing by going to the AH and searching for "scroll of enchant" to pull up a list. Usually mousing over the first in the list causes an immediate crash.

I'd just like to add my voice to something like this, but for Inscription and herbs. Hopefully Gazmik picked up inscription and feels the need for an addon such as this. I took a look at modding Disenchant Predictor to do it, but seems it's a bit of work.

Same. And all I have to do is mouseover my bar. Default bar btw. A real pain in the neck.. because I love this mod.

Suggest to move to Curse

Since wowinterface UI manager is no more support and also halt all the computer right now. Hope FDP can move to curse. It is a very good UI, hope to keep up to date all the time.

Thanks

*paces* I've been wondering where you went off to, how dare you actually play and enjoy the game! ^^

lol all jokes aside, thank you soooo much for updating this... this is one of my 'can't live without' addons that'd accompany me to a desert island if i had to choose (creepy, eh? ^^)

On a side note, I'm wondering if there is, or could be made (maybe by someone as intelligent, smart, nice, handsome...oh wait, *wipes her nose* let's try that again ^^) by another addon author this:

I recently dropped my herb (figured that if I really wanted herbs, i could stop being lazy and switch chars ) for tailoring, however to my consternation there doesn't seem to be (that I've found) an addon that has a 'drop zones' etc on cloth etc. The other mats, not as important, I guess, but cloth is driving me nuts. I was thinking of a tooltip hover on cloth that could list (via colors maybe?) the best/common places to get the cloth that you are hovering over.

Obviously some of the the outlands clothes for the most part would just be "Outlands" and Frostweave "Northrend"... but it's the azeroth cloths that are driving me up a silly dang wall. I think everyone remembers where to get runecloth (well, a lot of people, I guess it's unfair to say everyone) but I had to look up mageweave, etc.

I don't know, if it's not something doable or something you don't want to do, go ahead and tell me to take my my DE predictor and get the heck outta here ^^ I just love the mods you do put out (and yes, I actually read your site, zomg ^^) and love the clean interface that accompany them. Sooo I thought while I was snaking this bad boy for my list again (which btw, didn't break at all with 3.1, but I'm still happy as peach pie to update ^_^) I'd shoot the idea your way and see your thoughts

Seeya laters ^_^

Edit: 3 threads I've been viewing that might help with tooltips if you do decide to give this a go These are two threads that I keep having to repeatedly check as I keep getting distracted while I"m trying to 'focus' -.- Anyways, threads at Mmochampion's profession forums on some of their thoughts of the best places for the cloths posted below

Frostweave

More Frostweave

Mageweave & Runecloth
