I am concerned about how this mod tracks your gold across characters.

How is it doing this? Is this some sort of trojan/keylogger/viirus?

I don't know much about these things but this mods behavior troubles me.

Can someone other than one of the authors please explain if this is safe.

No such thing whatsoever. Each time you log into a character and activate the plug in, it will record the amount of gold you possess and store it in a savedvariable file called "TitanGoldTracker.lua" that can be found in ..\WTF\Account\<Username>\SavedVariables. This is standard behavior for all addons that store settings/variables per character/server.

It's in no way, shape or form anything like a trojan/keylogger/virus. It just notes in the saved variables for it hoe much gold you have on each character, and adds it up to show your total gold.

If it wasn't safe, it wouldn't have been accepted for download.

I don't see why it matter if an author, or another user explains what it does.

I'd like to see the functionality of Titan Guild built into Titan Bar. Titan Guild hasn't been updated in ages and it seems like a natural for Titan Panel to include guild information as a built-in. Please?!

Since I see some rather disturbing comments that I foresee may or will develop to an issue, later on, let's get something straight right off the bat.

I cannot speak on behalf of everyone in the team but as far as I'm concerned there is no 'wowace versus Titan or whatever' argument. Wowace developers & users as just as part of the community as anyone else, there is no denying that especially most of the devs have poured their hearts into their mods and frameworks and this has generally set things in motion, in what I believe to be the right direction.

When I personally started to get involved in the project, the last thing I cared about (or wanted even) was to 'compete' with anything or anyone. It was more like this. Something I was using since what seems to be forever, was broken and I did my best to fix as many parts of it as I could, considering my free time (which is still, extremely limited). As such, I do not consider myself to be a developer (updater would be a more accurate term).

In regards to Fubar. It's an amazing addon, ck has done an absolutely brilliant job on it and I'm quite sure he had to sacrifice a lot of personal time (I can only dream of doing the same). There are also many parts of Fubar that are clearly more efficient and offer more functionality overall. We are well aware of the shortcomings of Titan in that department, especially when it comes to OnUpdate checks. We are not blind, ignorant or just plain stupid. Is efficiency something that's being worked on atm ? Yes, but it's going slowly. Is it going to be implemented soon or ever ? Maybe. Possibly. There are no guarantees. It's not something we've done before, it's not entirely our code, so it's not easy. We accept any help and any creative suggestions. We try to listen. We are actually very grateful that people still think, we've done anything right or helpful.

Hopefully this little statement will give some idea of how we perceive certain facts.

there is no keylogger or any sort of malevolent virus... what ever in titangoldtracker it is just a way to view how much gold you have on you and your other toons with out having to open your bags or log onto another toon, there is no exe or any other sort of program scanning how much gold and sending that and your account info to us, so stop those accusations right now!!!

As i am also a team member, i also stand by what the other members say, we are not trying to compete with FuBar at all, i have been using Titan since i first got into the mod scene with Insomniax Compilation, and it great to actually be part of a team trying to keep a mod that is still one of the most used/oldest in WoW.

I don't think he/she was actually accusing the team of using a keylogger. It seemed to me that Losiva just didn't understand the mechanics of the addon [I was there once- and it was recently ] and wanted some assurance that it was safe to use. Unfortunately, the only responses were from the authors; it would sure would help if someone other than a team member would reassure Losiva that our addons are safe.

No Spyware, Trojans or Viruses

I am not a member of the Titan Panel Development Team (yet) and can assure everyone that what the team is stating is true. The Gold Tracker plug-in stores the information locally on your computer within the following location:
World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/<accountname>/SavedVariables/TitanGoldTracker.lua
There will be, more than likely, a backup of this file entitled TitanGoldTracker.lua.bak within the same directory. No mechanism exists to transmit this information to anyone. Here is what my TitanGoldTracker.lua file looks like. As you can see, I haven't used it for very long myself:

GoldArray = {
["INITIALIZED"] = true,
["Miraden_<Realm>::Horde"] = 1788710,
["Subotai_<Realm>::Horde"] = 1175400,
["Gankbank_<Realm>::Horde"] = 95552460,
["Kosh_<Realm>::Horde"] = 1563780,
["Dishonor_<Realm>::Horde"] = 458910,
["DISPLAYGPH"] = true,
["VERSION2"] = true,
["VIEWALL"] = false,
["SORTBYNAME"] = true,
["Gkar_<Realm>::Horde"] = 750840,
["Malik_<Realm>::Alliance"] = 3042510,
["Simbelmyne_<Realm>::Horde"] = 9860,
}
Completely harmless. 95.5 million gold on Gankbank? Hardly.

In Revision 123 the repair cost displayed on the Titan Repair bar button and the repair cost displayed next to the item names in the tooltip is the normal repair cost (no Honored discount taken into consideration), however there is a summary for total normal and discounted repair costs, at the end of the tooltip.

In the current internal revision, a new option has been added to the right-click menu that allows you to display the discounted repair cost on the button and next to the item names, right off the bat (the summary of total normal and discounted repair costs will persist). We are currently testing this and will release it when we feel comfortable with the new build.

About Titan Honor, I'm not yet 100% positive on the error, at first glance it seems that the battleground map name isn't being properly derived from a certain function. Information on it is also sketchy, e.g we have no idea if it's random or happens every time you exit a Bg. Regardless, I have added a check that may (or may not) solve the issue. It's been monitored.
