TBag  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 070123
by: TalosWoten [More]

Rejoice!

This is the long awaited expansion to EngBags, which works with 2.0. Yay!

In addition to the auto-sorting you've come to know and love, I've added many new features, including searching for items (in mail, etc.) You can also see and use the original default UI bags, which have slots free overlaid on top of them. There are also many convenience features, like highlighting new items, colored spotlighting, and purchase bank bags without having to unload the addon. A visual edit mode allows you to rearrange categories to your taste, and an advanced customization window enables you to completely configure every aspect of TBag.

Getting Started

TBag can only "see" something you've seen, so for every character:

1) Open your bags
2) Go to the bank
3) Check your mail
4) View your body
5) Open all your trade windows

This allows you to view the bag and bank contents of your characters at any time (sorted according to their trade skills) by clicking the name dropdown in the upper right. It also enables you to do a full item search from the search textbox just to the left of the name dropdown.

Awesome mod

I have to say, of all the bag mods I've tried, this is the best. I love the way the search feature was implemented.

I would like to know how to use the advanced configuration though. I can't figure out how to get all my primal this and motes of that sorted together.

To fix the SetCooldown nil value error go into TBnk.xml and go to line 56. It will look like this currently:
<Model name="$parent_Cooldown" inherits="CooldownFrameTemplate"/>

Change it to look like this:
<Cooldown name="$parent_Cooldown" inherits="CooldownFrameTemplate"/>

Note all you're doing is changing the word Model to Cooldown. A few patches ago Blizzard made a change that required this and it looks like it got missed in one spot for the bank.

I used to love this mod because I could right click on individual items and assign them to different categories if I wanted, now that this feature is gone I can't arrange the way I want

Ie Spirit of Summer is not recognised as a Minipet, in old version I could right click it on edit mode and assign it to minipet, with this version it does not appear with minipet but in a random place

Any chance of this old feature coming back?

This is a really cool addon, however I get a half-second of freeze whenever I open my bag, vendor, ah, bank, etc. If it wasn't for that, I'd be all over it... however, for as often as bags are opening and closing, the bit of client lag/freezing really got to me. I suppose it could save me time by auto arranging my stuff, but oh well... will keep an eye on it.

From what i have observed, TBag automatically puts things into stacks when you acquire them, or when you press "re-sort". Arranging things so spaces are at the bottom of the bags is somewhat irrelevant, because TBag shows all empty spaces & grey junk in the top section of the window. From what i've seen, it doesn't actually move anything in the inventory unless you drag an item onto another one to change their positions, but then when you re-sort they'll go back to where they were on the display. They'll just have changed positions in the physical bags.

When you're moving items around, it does not restack them or update the layout to reflect changes in categories until you press re-sort (it might update the layout if you close and open the window). If it were to re-sort in the middle of all that, you could lose track of what you were trying to move, and of course it would be impossible to separate stacks into smaller ones! But the button is there when you're ready for it.

You can customize the layout of the categories and stuff, but i like the default pretty well.

This mod looks awesome - is there a chance to get a localized version for the german client? I don't know anything about lua programming so I don't have the faintest idea how to do it myself.

Its come to my attention recently that the author may not be aware of how fantastically awesome this mod is. I dont worry if other people use/like it or not, but I'm copying a post I made elsewhere to show how much I appreciate this mod. It also might give some of the other users a few ideas about the things this mod does for you that arent completely obvious.

----
First let me explain what I am going on about... the concept of EngInventory (and now TBag) started with the "One Big Bag" idea but took it to a whole new level. Instead of just barfing out your entire inventory, say, alphabetically, the bag had something like 12 or 16 different 'regions' and you could specify where in that one giant bag certain things would appear.

- For example, I would put all my empty slots in one top corner, so I could see how many I had just by opening inventory. Then I didnt really need a mod to tell me how much bag space was free.

- I would put all my vendor trash in the other top corner, so its all right next to each other and when I opened a vendor window I'd just right click it all in succession to sell it. Also it was all in one place in case I ran out of room and needed to ditch something, I could see it all at once and toss what I thought would be cheapest. Now I didnt need a mod to search all my bags, find and sell my vendor trash for me.

- I put all my soul shards in one place so I just open the inventory and I can see how many soul shards I have, so now I dont need a mod to look in all my bags and count those for me.

- I put all my quest items in their own section at the bottom so they would never get mixed in with regular items and make me waste time by going through my bags and separating quest items from normal items.

The other critical difference between TBag and other 'virtual bag' mods is that it shows you your ENTIRE inventory at once. Many 'virtual bag' mods search your inventory and show you all items matching a certain category, i.e. potions. However when you get some potion that for some reason or another doesn't get caught by that filter, you will carry it around forever, not using it, not knowing you have it, just having it take up space. The problem with virtual bag mods is that you never see your inventory anymore, only the 'search results' that are produced by its filters. MAYBE the day that you manually go through each one of your bags because you are bored, you will find this item and MAYBE you will notice that your virtual bag mod is not categorizing it properly so you can actually try and do something about it.

Ultimately this one mod made me a much more efficient player by completely eliminating any time spent mousing over every item in the inventory and opening one bag after another when looking for something. It also eliminated the need for those mods that count up how much of one item you have, since it all appears next to each other (although of course at your own discretion you still might want a mod that puts this information on the HUD). Ultimately it reduced the time I spent managing my inventory to almost zero, so I could spend that time enjoying the game.

For those of you who are unsatisfied with your inventory management experience, you might want to try out this mod. Setting it up is pretty simple, you go into 'edit mode' and move either items or item categories around to the parts of the inventory screen that you want them to appear in. Unlike other mods that filter your inventory, this mod displays everything at once so you dont have to worry that you are missing something because you set up a filter incorrectly.

----
In closing, thanks again to the author, dont give up This mod is more important to me than -all my other mods combined- (yes even my beloved x-perl)
