weizPVP

OVERVIEW

weizPVP was developed with one focus in mind; World PVP.

From enemy player detection, to information gathering, to visual and audio alerts for important events and helpful combat features like the built-in Crosshairs; this addon's goal is to help give you the information and tools you need to do your best when facing enemy players in the world.

weizPVP lets you know how many enemy players are nearby, as well as their roles, levels, guilds, health, and more!
  • Tired of getting ganked by players you didn't even know were around?
  • Want a better way to find enemy players to kill for the weekly quest?
  • Want to know when there is a raid incoming to the city you're in, before it's too late to react?
weizPVP can help!

Whether you're solo doing world quests or in a raid group attacking a city, weizPVP is there to make life easier and keep you apprised of important enemy player details.

New features and optimization are being added all the time, and much more is planned for the future!

FEATURES

Main Window
  • Resize, lock and pin the window.
    • (Toggle pinning by right clicking the top bar of the window.)
  • Nearby enemy player list. Includes:
    • Name

    • Class
    • Off-realm status; (shown as a"*" next to their name if they're from another realm)

  • Soring of the player list to keep the most active players up top and idle or dead players towards the bottom.
  • Clickable player bars that target the player.
  • Scrollable player list *(while out of combat)*.
  • Nearby count that shows how many players are detected.
  • Clear list button.
  • Collapsible window button.

Stealth Detection
  • Pop up a display when an enemy player is detected going stealth/invisible/etc.
    • Includes a class-colored player name as well as the spell or ability that was used.
    • Detects use of items that give invisibility.
  • Optional sound alert played on detection.

Crosshairs
  • Color changes based on class targeted.
  • Movement animations are based on FPS so they won't slow down if FPS drops.
  • Net-o-Matic icon appears if it is possible to use it on the target.
  • Optional display of the target's name and guild.

Options
  • Can be accessed via /wpvp config or via Interface Options.
  • Enable/Disable in Battlegrounds and Arenas.
  • New enemy player detected audio alert.
  • BETA Options
    • A place for users to test out potential new features while working with an otherwise stable release.

Updated to 9.1.5; some minor bugs related to some zone options may act odd, but will be looked into..

If you run into any odd issues, try reloading the ui for now.

So sorry for the late reply.. thought I had email notifications setup, but i guess not.
Sadly no.. there is no more classic version being developed.

I did start working on one, but the API changes were enough to make it a pain for me to keep 2 different versions going.. They also gutted a lot of stuff that I was using for things like role determinations... as well as the nameplate changes that made the Crosshair pretty much pointless after they cut the range down to some super short distance.

As well I only played Classic until about level 20... too much grind (I did it the first time; that was enough)

I may look into it again depending on how the next expansion goes, but certainly not anytime soon.

Sounds good. There is also a new beta version out just now you may want to check out. That way at least I can debug the current code in case there were any changes between then and now.

Update: 1.70 is out now and should be stable. If you run into anymore issues just let me know, thanks!

Thanks, because this looks really amazing.

Very weird.. certainly sounds like some sort of bug, but from what I'm not sure since I haven't seen it myself.

If you notice it isnt showing up, try running: /wpvp show or just reload the ui in game.

I'm guessing it might be something related to detecting zone's and it may have thought you were in an area that it shouldn't be running.

If things get really screwed up, you can alway run: /wpvp resetall (THIS WILL WIPE ALL YOUR weizPVP data and reloadui the UI). There isn't a ton of data to lose at this point anyway so it shouldn't be a huge issue checking a couple boxes back.

What verion were you running by the way? Did you just portal/hearth/summon over when you noticed it wasnt there... or was it there for a while but then vanished?

Either way I'm redoing good bit of code in order to prepare for adding in more features; so I'm trying to streamline what I have and I'm sure looking into the zone detection code will be looked at.

Let me know if you get it back up and running again and thanks for the feedback; I'll make a note of it.

It's on the to-do list. I've had a few people suggest this so it certainly will be in at some point, but probably not until 2.0+

2.0's main focus will be being able to add and browse kill on sight players and guilds, along with a possible player browser that tracks kills, death, last seen etc. I MAY put it in while I work on kill on sight, but if not it will be shortly after. 2.0 is already being worked on and I hope to get it out within a month.

If you have any other suggestions, feel free to let me know so I can add it to the list if I feel it makes sense, thanks!

Some minor issues noted and being worked on

I've noticed a few small bugs related to the crosshair frames. If you run into any make sure to reload the ui, and hopefully that will solve the issue.

Another thing I'll be working for towards 1.3 will be a heavy optimization and restricting of some of the code.

My main focus is to get to the bottom on the crosshair issue, which may involve some error handling. I also suspect some, but not all issue are related to nameplate addons moving and hiding some around.
If the future I would like to have a setting to setup the CVARs in the same way I have them, so perhaps the nameplates lock on a little better and smoother, especially if they're not directly in sight.

On top of this, blizzard has a MAX number of nameplates that it is willing to generate, and what looks like pre-make for possible units that may use them. Even with only about 20 enemy plates shown, I still see some not showing up, but mousing ovre NPCs shows them just fine making me think some are created, and reserved and hidden until needed.

Since some of my detection of players rely on these nameplates, it can act a little weird sometimes when hitting the threshold of limiting namepaltes. I'll see what I can dig into with the CVARs and other methods to see if something can be done to focus more on player priority.

If you run into any issues, no matter how small, feel free to post them here or on the curse's issue page.

Thanks, and hope you are enjoying the addon so far; more to time!

Sounds thing, and was eventually planning on adding is, bust I got distracted with a lot of other things, that for me were useful for myself and guild.

My goal is to slowly build up the options menu with as much customization as possible, but since this is my first lua/wow project I'm focusing more on backend core stuff to make sure that part ends up being on par with at least most other addons. I do however feel at this point I have a pretty solid base to work from, although optimizations will be needed at some point (which is more for me... the cpu/me usage is pretty low compared to other pvp enemy scanning addons like Spy/ PVP Scan etc from my initial testing (but those addons also have more features.)

I really had working on menus for options at the moment.. maybe since I need more practice, but it will be there eventually. Something like a sound option for detection as well as sound selection using other files you have loaded is another step forward I need to look into.

In the meantime, how about a simple 'Play on Detection' options in the interface menus, but for now it would be hardcoded to something I pick? I'll try not to make it too annoying and do something to throttle the playback so it just play 40 times when you're running into and enemy city etc.

If you have any suggestions for sound samples go ahead and link them, otherwise I actually have a number of my own I think I could use.

Thanks for the feedback and hope you're enjoying it so far!
Yes i am enjoying the addon, it looks great and works well.
A simple Play on detection is fine, any sound will do for now.

I have been running it with Spy and weizPVP is detecting PVP players quicker then SPY, and seems to be using less memory too.

Thanks for this great addon
