Serious Help In Timing  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.24
by: Tharin2002 [More]

Serious Help In Timing is an addon based off of Face Mauler, which is being developed by IndigoSpaniard.

This addon will provide a recommendation for Ret Paladin's FCFS rotation. The window contains 3 icons. The large center icon displays which ability you should hit next. The small icon on the right shows you which ability is coming up next. The small icon on the left shows if Avenging Wrath is off of cooldown.

The mod will only load if you are currently playing a paladin character.

The options menu can be reached via "/serioushelp" or "/shit". Options include:

Lock - Locks the frame at it's current location.

GUI Opacity - Change the opacity of the display frame, options from 0 (invisible) to 1 (fully visible).

GUI Scale - Changes the scale of the display frame, options from .5 to 2.

Show on: - Shows the mod only on "Valid Target" (not dead or friendly), "In Combat" (any time you are in combat, even if not targeting something), or "Boss Only" (only mobs classified as bosses with a skull instead of a level).

Range Check - Adds a range check to the icon. If you are out of range for an ability, it will turn red.

Minimum Mana to Consecrate
- Sets the minimum amount of mana that the addon will still recommend consecrate as part of your rotation. Once your mana drops below this amount, the addon will skip over recommendations of consecrate.

Max Mana to Divine Plea - The percentage of mana below which the addon will recommend Divine Plea.

Sacred Shield Refresh Time - The time left, in seconds, on Sacred Shield before the addon will recommend refreshing it.

Spell Priority 1-6
- Here you can set the priority that you would like the addon to recommend abilities.

Currently, the addon will only recommend Avenging Wrath during a Bloodlust/Heroism, and only if you have a free global (i.e. last priority).

For more information on FCFS rotations, and which abilities should be priority, you can find the latest information in this thread at Elitist Jerks: Ret Paladin Thread (Please note that this thread is for patch 3.0. Once 3.1 is released, a new thread will probably be created with information for the changes to the FCFS rotation.)

Currently, I have no plans to localize this addon for any other languages.

Additional thanks to rea123 on the EJ paladin forums for some code fixes.

TODO
- Change AW suggestion to just put a glow around the AW icon during Heroism/Bloodlust.

1.24 - Updated for patch 3.2. Fixed bug where nothing would show up until you changed targets when first engaging. Changed functionality of the "In Combat" visibility option. Now disregards if you have a valid target and will always show while your character is in combat, even with nothing targeted.

1.23 - Fixed a small bug with showing the mod at login until a new target is selected when the worldbosses was enabled. Disabled COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED handling while the addon is not being shown. The addon now checks to reenable this handling by target switching to a valid target or if all other requirements are met when entering combat. This should drastically reduce the CPU usage of the mod while idling in Dalaran.

1.22 - Added range check to current and next icons and an option to disable it in the options. Also fixed a bug where the Spell Priorities sub option menu would appear underneath another addon.

1.21b - Added fix for missing priorities resulting in no priority being displayed. Thanks to rea123 on EJ for the code fix.

1.21 - Disabled debug output >.< Sorry for not catching that.

1.2 - Finished tuning the suggestion code. The only jump is consecrate appearing instantly when your mana goes above the minimum set for consecrate while waiting on a cooldown. Added support for Sacred Shield and Divine Plea priorities and options for their conditional requirements. Added options for showing the addon during different conditionals (Valid Target, In Combat, Bosses Only). Cleared up bugs relating to Hammer of Wrath.

1.15 - More fine tuning on the suggestion code to minimize jumpiness. Also made next suggestions that were over 1.5 seconds away show up. The suggestion icon will go blank during the global of your last ability to indicate that everything is on cooldown. After the GCD, it will indicate your next ability and it's cooldown.

1.14 - Fixed talent check bug when Ret was not your primary spec. Also cleaned up a problem with the addon flashing when it detected an off-spec.

1.13 - Updated TOC for 3.1.

1.12 - Added an opacity option and added an option to select "None" in the spell priority dropdowns.

1.11 - Cleaned up the suggestion code to take into account the realtime gcd. There should be less jumping between abilities mid-gcd now. Also redid the Avenging Wrath indicator to now show the cooldown on the icon and stay up at all times.

1.1 - Added a check for Heroism as well as Bloodlust.

1.0 - First release. All features planned are currently implemented.

localization

Currently, I have no plans to localize this addon for any other languages.
Though, will it still work on non-enUS-clients?

As far as I know it will, you would have to try it though. If it doesn't, I can fix that at least.

sorry for my english... I'm french

here some ideas to improve this addon:

- to add a seventh spell priority: Divine Plea
- to give the possibility of leaving an empty spell priority box
- to be able to switch between two cycle: monocible and multicible
- to make compatible this addon with cooldowncount

Very promising addon, looks very nice, I'll give it a try.
But, as said before, can you please add a Divine Plea icon on top of the Avenging Wrath icon that works just like Avenging Wrath?
And CooldownCount support would be welcome as well, but first the Divine Plea .

I'll look into the empty spell priority box and see if I can get it into the next version. Unfortunately, I have no plans on implementing multiple rotations for different scenarios.

There comes a point where your abilities will need to be prioritized based on the current situation, and not on what a mod says you should use. The current single target rotation is pretty basic, but multiple targets starts to bring a lot more factors into play that would be too difficult to accurately model in a simple addon. This addon is meant to improve your play, not be a crutch that you rely on.

I'm hesitant to add any more cooldown's to the addon, as at that point I'm really getting outside the scope of what this addon is for. While I appreciate the desire for a one-stop-shop kind of addon for Ret paladins, there are many other addons out there that can assist in cooldown management, and may be much better options than me trying to implement their features here.

For example, I've also had requests to implement a Sacred Shield timer. If I were to implement both SS and DP, then I would need to focus on the mod's one-stop-shop nature and also implement trinket cooldowns. As you can see, this can really start to clutter up what is a very simple addon.

If you're interested in something to help manage your cooldowns, try looking into CoolLine or CoolDownTimers. I have used both addons and they both have great features. I've also heard ClassTimers works great.

I'll take a look into implementing cooldowncount support as well. I'm not sure what it would entail or if it would actually benefit the mod beyond making it more of a cooldown monitor, which I've already expressed my lack of desire to do.

Thanks a bunch for your feedback though, and please keep it coming.

For the one that requested SS support:
WatchSacredShield: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...tails/wss.aspx

Basic addon, but it does what it has to do (replace the whisper module with a AddMessage:ChatFrame1 to reduce the spam).

Thanks for replying this quickly to our comments!

I've looked into the CooldownCount support, and unfortunately I don't think it will be possible. It seems to be a limitation of CooldownCount. OmniCC, however, works just fine. I compared the code of the two and it's nothing I can fix on my end. I suggest giving OmniCC a try if you want the timers though.

I just downloaded this and I don't think it's working right. All it ever shows me is Avenging Wrath, regardless of whether it's in cool-down or not. It never shows any other abilities.

It's still fully functional on my comp though, try exiting wow, deleting savedvariables of SH1T, deleting folder of SH1T, reinstalling SH1T, opening wow, typing /run ReloadUI() .

Hi, good job on this mod. Got a bug report: when I target a mob the abilities flash up for a second or two and then disappear, never to be seen again. I have reinstalled a couple of times and don't seem to have any conflicting mods.

I'll look into this when I get home. Hopefully I can have a new version up and working this weekend.

EDIT: Problem found and fixed. New version uploaded.

I did all that and installed the latest version and still have the same problem. Here's a screenshot:

Notice that, even though I call AW in macros (JoW and CS), I also have a button for it so you can see that it's in cooldown. The way SH1T looks in this screenshot is how it always looks when I'm fighting.

That's definitely not working right. >.<

So far, I haven't heard of anyone else having this issue so it's either something very uncommon or something specific to your setup. What localization are you? Are you on a Mac?
