Livestock  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.8.3
by: Kharthus [More]

Livestock: For all your companion needs

Now that your pets and mounts don't take up space in your bags, Livestock lets you manage them intelligently. This addon sorts your companions into land mounts, flying mounts, and vanity pets. Then, with the push of a button, you can randomly summon any of the three, or designate a favorite pet to have out on command.

You can also have Livestock always keep a pet by your side, and have it dismiss your vanity pet when you are in PVP battle and it would give away your position.

You can even tell Livestock to put you on a random land or flying mount depending on whether the area you're in lets you fly or not. Underwater or in combat, Livestock can also be configured to cast certain spells relating to travel, such as Path of Frost or Ghost Wolf.

New to version 1.2 and above, you can designate certain pets or mounts to be called in certain zones or subzones. Ride in style on a Frostwolf Howler while in Alterac Valley, and then switch to your favorite color of Mechanostrider while in Ironforge. Livestock will let you make sure that you have your good luck pet out whenever you're in Ulduar or Trial of the Crusader.
You can summon critters, land mounts, and flying mounts in various ways. See the ReadMe file for more information.
Localization Help:
Livestock currently only works for the enUS, deDE, eES, ruRU, and frFR clients. (The client is only localized completely for the enUS client, and assistance in localizing is always appreciated!) If you are on another client, Livestock will load but will show all English strings. If you are willing to help localize the addon for your language, please let me know - you'd only need to provide some simple translations and I'd do the rest. You can reach me through the Private Message system available here.
Slash Commands:
There are currently eight slash commands for the addon. View the ReadMe file for a more in-depth explanation. /livestock and /ls both work for commands.
  • Use "/livestock" to bring up the main menu bar.
  • Use "/livestock reset" to move the four Livestock Buttons back to their default positions.
  • Use "/livestock scale <scale>" to change the size of the Livestock Buttons.
  • Use "/livestock prefs" as a shortcut to access the preferences, described in the ReadMe.
  • Use "/livestock redo" to force Livestock to reset to default. Useful for squashing buggy behavior at the cost of having to reset your settings.
  • Use "/livestock [zone/subzone/party]" to designate a pet or mount for your current zone, subzone or party. For more information, check the ReadMe.
  • Use "/livestock [mount/nomount/pet/nopet]" to add/remove pets and mounts from the random summon list. Uses your active summon.
  • Use "/livestock debug" - Prints out useful debugging information that can assist the developers in solving problems. Use the command again to turn off the debugging output.

Livestock Options and Preferences:
You can find the options for Livestock in the Addons tab of the Blizzard Interface options menu. The "Livestock" tab has the major options, while options for pets, Smart Mounting, and zone/subzone preferences are in sub-menus. You can read more about the preferences in the ReadMe file.
Bug Reports and Feature Requests
If you find unexpected behavior in Livestock, especially in locales other than enUS, please check the FAQ first to see if it has been addressed and if there is a possible fix.
Please report any bugs you find with Livestock -- or feature requests you'd like to see -- using the "Report Bugs" or "Feature Request" button underneath the Download button, up and to the right. I appreciate your feedback and support.
If you are reporting a bug, the following information is helpful: Any error messages that you saw, where you were (if you can give coordinates, that's excellent), what you were trying to do, what your menus looked like, and what class you play.
Thanks!
Well-deserved credit goes to the following people:
  • Khanthal (Uldum), for the original idea and being our MT so often!
  • A BIG thank you to Sbo (UI and Macros forum, Live) who helped me figure out what was the issue with Dalaran and Wintergrasp as well as suggesting the way to get around it.
  • Grimgear (UI and Macros forum, Live) for helping troubleshoot a bug, pointing me to keybindings, and suggesting rotation speed. Also for pointing out how best to adjust my GUI to compensate for localization.
  • Lunessa (UI and Macros forum, Live) for pointing me to Blizzard's instructions on creating panels in the Interface menu.
  • Xelron (UI and Macros forum, Live) for helping construct debug messages to get more information and indirectly convincing me to make my own dropdowns.
  • Ro (UI and Macros forum, Beta) for the 3D model viewer idea. Ro also originally suggested making my own custom dropdowns, which I thought was beyond me!
  • Elloria and Tgulics (WoWInterface) for helping spread the word and test the addon in its early stages and for suggesting highlighting the buttons when they're clicked.
  • The MVPs (UI and Macros forum) for providing the resources needed to accomplish this one as well as stepping in and answering my questions from time to time. Special thanks to Alestane and Iriel for helping me with secure handlers.
  • kdkunde (WoWInterface) for helping translate this mod into German so far!
  • Vastilia (WoWInterface) and Yorgl (Curse) for helping translate into French!
  • madbit (WoWInterface) for the Spanish translation.
  • simply (Curse) for the Russian localization.
  • Certainly not least, Brenkite (Uldum) for being my personal troubleshooter and moral support.

I'm experiencing this as well.

The critter menu seems to be acting as though no pets are selected for random summoning even though they are (100s of them). There's no error, it simply doesn't work. I'm using the latest version on a fresh install with no other addons enabled, just to make sure it isn't a conflict.

A pet is only summoned when manually chosen in the critter menu, as though it's the only one selected on there (works with deselecting and re-selecting a pet, and with selecting a different pet).

Oh well. Whenever you get a chance, maybe something to look at.

by the way, I cannot find the "bug report" nor "feature request" buttons anywhere near the Download button.
Seems to be working correctly for me. Not sure what could cause this.

1) The correct usage is /livestock zone [mount name]. You have to be in Mechagon to use it, you can't setup zone mounts from other zones. You need to type zone instead of Mechagon.

2) This command is working correctly for me. Try unchecking a few mounts and then running it and it should recheck them for you. FYI, nothing resets the scale except the scale command.

3) This only affects the scale of the critter/mount buttons, not the menu bar.

Long time user. I'm having a few issues with the command line in 2.7.9. Namely:

1. Zone-specific Mount Command
It's been a while since I've used this feature, but I have used it and just attempted to use it again. Right now, the command line no longer seems to be working. For example, this command:

Code:
/livestock Mechagon [X-995 Mechanocat]
Results in the same behavior as just /livestock (the menu bar appears). The mount isn't added to the zone and no text appears in chat. I also tried Elwynn Forest, just to make sure it wasn't an issue with the new zones. Same issue.

Since the drag/drop GUI method has never worked (to my knowledge), there appears to be no functioning method to set zone/subzone-specific mounts. If my command is wrong, please let me know. From the readme, it appears to be correct.

2. Redo, Scale, Prefs
This command:

Code:
/livestock redo
Does not reset any settings, from what I can tell. After running it, exiting out of the game, and then logging back in, all of my settings remained identical. Tickboxes, selected mounts, and my existing zone-specific mounts. Nothing changed. I tried using this option when the zone-specific mounting wasn't working.

Similarly,

Code:
/livestock scale 0.5
Does not result in any change of the menu bar scale. I also tried 0.3, 1.0, and 2.0.

FYI,

Code:
/livestock prefs
Does work.

---

If lack of functionality of any of these commands are an error on my part, please let me know! Thanks much.

After some experimenting, I've found that both problems go away if I just nudge the interface bar manually with my mouse (ie: move it from the position it appears in by default). I guess it's still an issue, however, there's obviously something going on.
It's not happening for everyone so I'm not really sure where the bug is. Blizzard changed some API stuff and I think this is a side effect.

updating for 8.2?

On one computer, since the 8.2 patch, when I type /ls the interface bar for selecting pets and mounts appears, but the buttons are non-responsive.

On my 2nd computer, I get the following message: Interface/addons/livestock/livestock/lua:505:Action[SetPoint] failed because [SetPoint would result in anchor family connection]: attempted from LivestockFlyingMenuCheckButton:SetPoint.

(I get "LivestockLandMenuCheckPoint" if I click on the land mount button and "LivestockCritterMenuCheckButton" if I click on the Critters button.)

Add-on or not?

I don't know what exactly is causing this problem, or if it's directly related to Livestock.

Today I started a new Zandalari troll, and every time I log out then back in, all of my Livestock preferences (smart-mounts, smart-pets, the "critters" button) gets reset. In other words, every time I log back in all of my mounts are selected (despite my only selecting 1), all of my critters (again, despite only selecting 1), and my button for calling a critter is gone from the screen.

I tested on my other toons, and oddly enough, none of them have the issue. In other words, everything is in its place.

EDIT****************
Ok, it seems to have been some game-related issue, rather than directly the add-on.
Today, logging in and out repeatedly, it is keeping my preferences.

Well, again, thank-you for the great add-on.

I have an idea what's wrong, but please help me out. Type '/ls debug' and then try the smart macro and let me know what it outputs.
[22:13:22] PREDEBUG: 'nil' is mount-type, state is '5'
[22:13:22] POSTDEBUG: 'nil' is mount-type, state is '5
Certain class or all classes?
This debug message in particular came from my MW monk, but I can also confirm that the smart macro doesn't work on holy paladin or disc priest. I also noticed that sometimes the state was '2'. The smart macro does however work correctly in Hook Point (the new Boralus arena).

Combo button does nothing - no error, no mount.
Land mount button gave me this error:
2.7.1 should fix all of those problems. Let me know if you have any additional errors with the latest build.
