Buffwatch is a buff monitoring tool for all classes which lets you easily and clearly keep track of any buffs on yourself or your party/raid, and also allows you to quickly recast your buffs at the click of a button.
You choose which buffs you want to monitor and Buffwatch lets you know when they have run out, with clickable buttons to recast them.
Buffwatch can be used to :

I have managed to find a workaround for the previous bug I mentioned. Unfortunately, even after several attempts to try and contact blizz about this issue over the last 8 months I still haven't been able get them to take a look at it.
If anyone is interested, or can post on the US UI forums (which seems to get much more blue response than the EU forums), then take a look at http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1934584329.

Scale + Visual Notifications when (selected) buffs expire, would be great.

It seems as though the code to position the frame wasn't effective when logging in.. but I'm pretty sure that has been fixed now with 3.17. Thanks for reporting it |

I know there is a bug in there somwhere, as I have had it in the past, but like twice in the last 6 months.. and up until recently I was playing every day, it's just being a nightmare to track this one down. |

On a reload or relog, the Buffwatch window shifts towards the right when I have the anchor corner set to the upper right corner. Not tested with other corners yet.

The 3.16 bug seems to be related to the one you posted for 3.15a the other day, although under seemingly different circumstances.
I jumped on with my test char (which is just a lock with a pet), and couldn't reproduce the error, will have to try some more testing with a proper group of players tomorrow. |

Thanks for the reply and the quick effort at fixing it. But it unfortunately seems to have regressed instead of progressed.
There was a second error that occurred soon after my first post, but in WoW 3.2.0 live with v3.15a instead of WoW 3.1.3. As previously noted, both this and the originally reported error did not interfere with buff reporting or clicking: ["message"] = "Buffwatch-3.15a\\Buffwatch.lua:1496: attempt to perform arithmetic on global 'expTime' (a nil value)\nBuffwatch-3.15a\\Buffwatch.lua:823: in function `Buffwatch_GetPlayerInfo'\nBuffwatch-3.15a\\Buffwatch.lua:729: in function `Buffwatch_Set_UNIT_IDs'\nBuffwatch-3.15a\\Buffwatch.lua:250: in function `Buffwatch_OnEvent'\n<string>:\"*:OnEvent\":1: in function <[string \"*:OnEvent\"]:1>\n\n ---", ["type"] = "error", ["time"] = "2009/08/05 00:24:50", ["session"] = 1097, ["counter"] = 1 But now with the latest problems with v3.16, the mod has become unusable. Using v3.16, WoW 3.2.0 live, USEnglish client/server in a 10-man raid. See people in BuffWatch. Click the check marks on the left to activate all of them. Then start to ALT-rightclick the buffs you have not cast to remove them from the list. Two errors thrown up at the same time when you ALT-rightclick the first buff to remove from someone: ["message"] = "Buffwatch-3.16\\Buffwatch.lua:1300: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)\nBuffwatch-3.16\\Buffwatch.lua:864: in function `Buffwatch_GetPlayerInfo'\nBuffwatch-3.16\\Buffwatch.lua:769: in function `Buffwatch_Set_UNIT_IDs'\nBuffwatch-3.16\\Buffwatch.lua:288: in function `Buffwatch_OnEvent'\n<string>:\"*:OnEvent\":1: in function <[string \"*:OnEvent\"]:1>\n\n ---", ["type"] = "error", ["time"] = "2009/08/08 20:43:21", ["session"] = 1176, ["counter"] = 1 ["message"] = "Buffwatch-3.16\\Buffwatch.lua:1300: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)\nBuffwatch-3.16\\Buffwatch.lua:303: in function `Buffwatch_OnEvent'\n<string>:\"*:OnEvent\":1: in function <[string \"*:OnEvent\"]:1>\n\n ---", ["type"] = "error", ["time"] = "2009/08/08 20:43:21", ["session"] = 1176, ["counter"] = 5 Second error repeated 5 times continually trying to ALT-rightclick. What's bad about these errors are that unlike the previous ones with v3.1.5a, the mod stopped working. You could no longer ALT-rightclick or leftclick any of the icons after they happened. Thus making the mod unusable.

Ok cheers for reporting it. I have a feeling this might be the same error that has been around for a few versions now, but has been nigh on impossible to track down let alone reproduce. It seems to happen when buffwatch wants to update (due to buff changes or raid member changes most likely), while you are in combat.. so it delays the update until combat is over.
If it is the same one, in the past I had a feeling it was due to a player with a pet (eg. a lock) joining the party/raid while in combat, but I just couldn't reproduce it. I'll keep trying with this one though. 3.16 has just gone up, let me know if you still get it with that anyways, I expect you will. |

Returned to this mod last week after a long time away. Changed over to ZOMGBuffs, but since WotLK was released its been buggy as heck. Then changed to SmartBuff, but it doesn't handle buff tracking after dual-spec changes properly. Then changed to Cork. But the giant tooltip it has being unable to be hidden in combat & popping up when people/pets die in combat is a major pain. So came back here .
Has been working well. But a bug has recently occurred with v3.15a here. USEnglish client/server, WoW 3.1.3 live. In a 10 man Ulduar raid on a Mage. Set Buffwatch++ to keep track of Arcane Brilliance on all raid members, along with Focus Magic on one player. Sometime during the raid, the following error occurred (recorded with BugSack/BugGrabber mods): ["message"] = "Buffwatch-3.15a\\Buffwatch.lua:1153: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)\nBuffwatch-3.15a\\Buffwatch.lua:1647: in function `Buffwatch_Process_InCombat_Events'\nBuffwatch-3.15a\\Buffwatch.lua:284: in function `Buffwatch_OnEvent'\n<string>:\"*:OnEvent\":1: in function <[string \"*:OnEvent\"]:1>\n\n ---", ["type"] = "error", ["counter"] = 1 |

Heh aye
Obviously the addon is a generic buff tracker, so you'll just have to remove the buffs you dont want to track with Alt-Right Click. One thing I would like to do in the future is to create a template manager, so you can quickly load in a preset set of buffs for any player on your list. However, I can't see that being a quick change to do, and I don't have the time at present.. but hopefully something I can add in one day. For the expanding, it currently expands in a direction based on where you put it on the screen.. if you put the window in the top left of your screen, it will expand down and to the right.. if you put it in the bottom left, it will expand up and to the right.. etc. To be honest I don't like the way it works, it seemed like a nice idea at the time, but as it happens the next change I am already working on is to allow the user to select the anchor point themselves. |
