Docking, never miss a flight again!

Docking's a tiny, no-config-required-it-just-works mod that does two things:

- It plays the boat bell sound when a taxi flight ends.
- It plays the boat bell sound when a zeppelin arrives.

This mod is for those who tend to switch away when they're on a flying taxi, or a zeppelin. Now, you know exactly when the flight ends, so your character isn't just sitting around somewhere wasting valuable rested experience. And you'll know exactly when a zeppelin flight comes in, so you won't be sat forever at the tower waiting for a zeppelin ever again, or you won't ever find yourself going in loops on the zeppelin because you switched away and got caught up in something else.

Yes, this happens to me quite often. That's why I created this mod. And I thought that since I'm probably not the only person this happens to, well... others might like it too!

What if I want to change the sound?

The sound is defined in the code:

self.sound = "Sound\\Doodad\\BoatDockedWarning.wav"

Just change it to the path and file of your choice. If there's enough demand though, I'll include an option in a later version to be able to change the sound via an options screen. But I didn't see anything wrong with the bell sound, and I can't imagine why most would want to change it, so I didn't put in the configuration for something so superfluous.

What's up with that name?

I felt it was apt.

Plus, I wanted to see if I could match up to the Tekkub school of mod naming: Pick a name which is obviously lewd, yet has plausible deniability.

I... don't get it.

If you don't get the purpose of this mod, please just ignore it and be on your way. I'm kind of tired of getting low votes on things just because the functionality goes over someone's head. The mod performs the described function, it does so perfectly, and it's well written. If you don't get it or don't need it, then move along.

This mod really is only for the people who get the problem that would cause me to create a mod like this. Not everyone will get it.

TBH, I didn't even know they'd added a sound for zepps... I sure haven't ever heard it.

I'll try and keep this simple...

Landing Sound

The Problem: It's a very soft sound, and I keep my volume low. It's also a sound that lasts for a very short time, this makes it easy to miss. I found that I often missed the end of a flight because I was a short distance away from my keyboard, or because I was doing something else on the computer at the time. The flight sound just isn't a very noticeable sound, plus it plays for every player that lands.

The Docking Solution: The sound is loud and distinguishable, and it only plays when I land (as opposed to everyone). It also plays more than once, this makes it less likely that the player will miss the sound.

Zeppelin Sound

The Problem: The zeppelin foghorn sound doesn't always play, it's a hit and miss thing. I've noticed this mostly when I'm on a zeppelin and the zone has changed, it's like the client has missed a trigger and doesn't play the sound. But I've even seen numerous zeppelins arrive at Orgrimmar without the foghorn playing once. The sound only seems to trigger occasionally and not for every zeppelin that arrives. This makes it hard to know exactly when a zeppelin arrives or leaves. Not to mention that once again, the "foghorn" really isn't much of a foghorn, it's something indistinguishable that can be lost under other sounds.

The Docking Solution: The sound is, once again, clear and distinguishable. It plays more than once so it can't be missed. And because it's based off the yells of the Goblins, I've never once had it fail to play the sounds, even if the zeppelin has already arrived by the time the zoning has finished loading. If the foghorn was more prominent, and it played every time then I wouldn't have included this functionality.

The long and short of it...

The long and short of it is that I created this mod for myself, and it's also for those who've seen these problems and wanted a workaround. That's why it exists. If there wasn't a need for it, then I wouldn't have made it. If you don't get it or don't want it, then you don't have to use it.

I don't get it.. the zeppelin tower makes a loud fog horn type sound when they arrive. The flightpaths make a dismounting sound.
