2) The icons are being removed in the next push, but they won't be that much smaller, scale them down if you don't like the size.
3) You cannot assign a specific Paladin, it automatically picks the Paladin with the best buff to do it.

If you were able to see what she had by it auto unselecting buffs, then it sounds like it was working it just didn't update her, you might want to try hiding/opening the assignment frame.

Not sure what you mean by it won't allow you to assign buffs, are you not clicking the icons?
