it was because I had a minimum mana threshold set.
I guess it just wasn't working before and now it is, fixed.

testing the cast bar worked perfectly (the bar was 'smooth' whether the check box was checked or unchecked didn't make a difference, I dont use borders)
I did not have any luck with platebuffs though, the anchor kept moving from it'...

There is an anchoring issue with the plate-frame that the icons sit on. sometimes they're achored much higher than they should be (about 15px), this can be reproduced by moving the nameplates off-screen then back into view and the buffs will now be in a higher position than they should be.

using AloftCastWarning pre-cata had this same problem.
