I have tried your initial version and I still got errors about the frame, because the code you did was missing the SetBackdropColor method, which can be fixed by writing
BackdropTemplateMixin and "BackdropTemplate"
instead of
"BackdropTemplate"
as the 4th parameter for CreateFrame.
