Does ThunderClap have a duration ? If so than this is probably the blue writing showing how much time is left of that duration. Its a new feature that was added in 5.03.06.

For those of you who are experiencing this problem...

Can you please edit [ Interface > AddOns > nUI > Bars > nUI_Button.lua ] and go to line 300 where you see the following code and add the line that's in blue... then log in and when you get the error message, look to see what the last line was that was printed and tell me what it says the "id" equals?

Code:

              action  = ActionButton_CalculateAction( self );
                type, id = GetActionInfo( action );

                print( "id = ["..(id or "nil").."]" );

                if id
                and id > 0
                and nUI.lastSpell
                and type == BOOKTYPE_SPELL
                and id <= nUI.lastSpell
                then

Once you've found out what the last ID was that threw the error, you can remove the blue line again so it doesn't spam your chat frame anymore.

OKay -- for those of you experiencing this bug, try installing the attached file in your [ Interface > AddOns > nUI > Bars ] folder and see if that doesn't fix it for you.

.

spiel2001 06-05-09 05:48 PM

No... you're misreading it... note that the number is in blue, not yellow... that's telling you how much longer before the thunderclap expires on your target, not the cooldown on it.

Cooldowns are shown in yellow until there's just 10 second left, then they turn red. Spells you have cast on the target while still active are shown in cyan (blue) until they expire. If there's still a cooldown remaining after they expire, then it will start showing the remaining cooldown in the yellow or red color as appropriate.

EDIT: Note... this is a new feature in 5.03.06 -- it was in the patch notes.

This way you can see what spells you have on the target and how much time is remaining on them right on your action bar.

Just for kicks... try this (attached)

What this does is as follows...
  • When the spell associated with the action on your action bar is active on the target *and* it is on cooldown, the time remaining on the spell is displayed in purple.
  • When the spell associated with the action on your action bar is active on the target but is *not* on cooldown, the time remaining is displayed in bright blue.
  • When the spell is *not* on your target and on cooldown, the time remaining of the cooldown is shown in yellow until the last ten seconds, then in red.
EDIT: I just added a screenshot that identifies the different information on the action bar.

.

spiel2001 06-05-09 06:37 PM

FYI --

I just got feedback from the WoW UI forum on what the issue was likely to be and why I couldn't reproduce it. Do you happen to have equipment of some kind in your action bar?

demanl 06-05-09 06:39 PM

wow....thats way TOO complicated for me.....:))

Can I plz get a way to turn off that new .06 button functionality..and just display the actions cd...????

spiel2001 06-05-09 06:52 PM

Take a look at the screenshot I just posted and see if that helps...

http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/a...5&d=1244249342

demanl 06-05-09 07:01 PM

Now that u have explained what is going on....I can see what u did. Thx for the screen piccy...:))

So...how can I turn it OFF...lol...????

I do like the simple button CD's...but the cd's on the affect on the target is way too much for me for a button.....especially when I'm multi target tanking.....gets too much for me eyes.....:eek:....thats the way my eyes are now..:eek::eek:

Some people will LOVE this feature.....:D I think its cool on an intellectual level...:D But on a practical level....no...I need to turn it off...please...:))

Anyway....I still love nUI.....:))....its my favorite addon...seems a shame to call it an addon....I'm going to call it my WoW Shell....:))

Its my favorite WoW Shell...!!!

Anyway....I got the programming book so I can write a simple Gold Tracker across all of my toons w/o having to resort to loading Titan.....:))

When I get it done...I will forward to you for your use in whatever.....

Cheers

spiel2001 06-05-09 07:08 PM

I will be adding an option to turn it off as it does seem to annoy some people.

Petrah 06-06-09 02:40 AM

Is there any ETA on when you will be offering that as an option? I really tried to get used to those being on the action bar spell icons, but they sit right on top of the numbers by Dr Damage (I actually specifically came here on my way to bed to post about it). I can always revert back to a previous version of nUI for awhile until the feature (or plugin?) is added/offered.

Begs forgiveness for the duration timers on buttons implementation ... *bows* .. *scrapes* .. *grovels*

Rofl Scott, maybe I should have just stayed with the 2 addons I was using :D

spiel2001 06-06-09 06:07 AM

~lol~

Trust me... this happens every time I add a new feature. It's basic human psychology. I actually purposely don't add the "turn this off" option at the same time I add a new feature because I know most people will automatically turn it off without having given it a fair shot to see if it is of value to them.

I'll have the option to disable it in tomorrow night's update.

I would rather have all the functionality of all the addons in one WoW shell like nUI with one developer..like Scott....this way the footprint is smaller..and the quality is much higher...plus u eliminate the problems of mult-vendor addons tripping each other up.

So don't apologize for getting something u need/want into nUI.........I would love to get some of the things that Titan does into nUI...:))

In...fact I'm working on a toon gold tracker for myself that fits into the info panel...and will pass it onto Scott for his uses.....comments...and criticism...hopefully all constructive.

I don't think Scott should remove the new timer code from nUI...but give us a way to turn it ON/OFF depending on our needs. I don't need it for my tanking warrior..but I might want it for my paladin and/or DK...:)))

Keep going Scott.....all changes are good.......:)))

spiel2001 06-06-09 08:37 AM

Five new slash commands in tomorrow's update...

* added a new slash command '/nui bar cooldown' -- This option is used to turn the
display of cooldowns (displayed in yellow on the action bar) on and off. By default
this feature is enabled.

* added a new slash command '/nui bar duration' -- By default, when you cast a spell
on a target, the time remaining on the spell is displayed in blue on the action bar.
This option turns that timer feature off.

* added a new slash command '/nui bar macro' -- When you place a custom macro on the
action bar, nUI display's the macro's name on the button. This option will turn that
display on and off.

* added a new slash command '/nui bar stackcount' -- nUI normally displays the stack
counts of inventory items that are on your action bars in the lower right corner of
the button. This option can be used to turn that display on and off.

* added a new slash command '/nui bar keybind' -- When you have a key bound to an
action button, the key name is normally displayed in the top left corner of the
button. This option can be used to turn that display on and off.

I had no idea it was this involved....!!.

Well... it's been on the to-do list a long time... so now people have complete control over which text items are and are not displayed on their action bars.

In...fact I'm working on a toon gold tracker for myself
I use SimpleGold for tracking/diplaying my toons current gold. It works really well and at the very least might be a nice guide if your just learning to write addons.
