So many, as a matter of fact, my framerates have dropped to 3, from 60+

FIX IT

My husband and I also had the same problems, though we are not going to demand that you "FIX IT!" so much as ask politely. We have become addicted to Carbonite =)

I concur, It would be a gem if you could get it working for us again, or at least let us know that you are working on it.

I haven't noticed any framerate drop myself

But what I have noticed is that the guide arrow doesn't turn smoothly with me anymore, it seems to hang wherever I am facing and then update every 10-15 seconds or so, to wherever I happen to be facing then. Just thought I'd mention it

I would post my errors, but I can't seem to figure out how to see them; it just comes up and says that there are errors, and that Carbonite is the one that is causing them...in addition to the framerate problems.

Open up World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\Carbonite\Carbonite.lua and change ChatFrameEditBox to ChatFrame1EditBox at line numbers 18702 and 18722. That eliminated the errors for me.

Ah, thank you - but those lines don't coincide with my own carbonite.lua - where can I look to find my personal errors?

You should be able to just do a search (from the find or edit menu's usually) in the file for "ChatFrameEditBox" It should be around halfway down as a guess. Once you find it, change it to "ChatFrame1EditBox".

I did a bulk replace in my file and it worked (capital letters are required)

That's the same error info everyone is getting. Yours is just referencing another line.

Take a look above at post #8 for how to fix it, just apply it to your line number or bulk replace them as EvilJookie did :)

THANK YOU. If you open the lua file "using a program from list", use notepad. Then "replace all" using his info about the ChatFrame.... stuff

I tried the mass replace (Backing up the file first) and it broke carbonite completely, so I restored the backup and it was still broke so I'm at a loss o_O

Guess I'll wait for the real update

Nice thing with messing around in the lua file......if you break it, you can just download a nice fresh unaltered copy from WoWI :)

I got 15 errors...fixed the chat one and now my minimap and arrow don't work.

Minimap and arrow not working I have no idea about. I'd recommend copy/pasting the errors into a new post in this forum just so they don't get buried here and someone may be able to help that way.

So i tried entering the carbonite lua folder to change the chatframbox item and it wont let me in the folder any other suggestions:mad:so frustrating

You may have a bugged out install or a conflicting addon. The last time I had seen some of those errors was around July/August last year.

I would try and disable all other addons except Carbonite and see if you still have the error. If you do, you can try and delete Carb from your Interface\Addons folder and reinstall a fresh copy from here. Doing it this way will preserve all your personal settings changes and window locations. You will have to make the Chat changes again don't forget :)

You can also rename or move the Carbonite.lua file in the WoW\WTF\ folder for your character and then log in. Renaming/moving the file completely resets Carbonite to 100% fresh, everything to default.

How i fixed my lua Error.
 

I was betting bombed with multiple errors. reading this post showed me what i need to do.
search for text editor called TextPad (free d/l)
(need to make sure you have carbonite installed)
1: Click File
2: Open
3: (find location of carbonite install)
(Carbonite Lua is in Carbonite folder make sure you have All Files selected at the bottom & double click on file to open)
4: copy ChatFrameEditBox <-- that text
5: click on Search then on Find
6: paste ChatFrameEditBox into search box
(I personally changed EVERY single one it found to ChatFrame1EditBox)
can click find next and will auto find the text for you.
7: Click the disk at the top to save the file.
Now you complete and should have no errors when you log back on if you have 3.3.5 update installed.

I also wanted to add i could not keep track of all the errors i was getting..
the counter just keep going up and up until i eventually got disconnected, but last i seen the counter it was at 200+ and going strong on the count.

only other thing i did was got rid of ALL my addons and updated them all

There are also text editors that are free that will replace all instances in one click if you wish. Notepad++ comes to mind.

I'm sure this is true. Im personally not that great with text editing, this is just what i used. Im positive there are other and even better text editors out there for free d/l.

I was able to gt carbonite working, but when i go into my quest journal, i cant click to watch quests or turn the watch off. anyone know how to fix this?

I just opened the .lua file with wordpad (as suggested by someone) that is already on my computer. Went to edit > replace > Find What : ChatFrameEditBox > Replace with : ChatFrame1EditBox, and then clicc replace all.

Someone else had posted to make the change with all caps, but when I did that I was still getting the error; I took out all caps except for the first letter of each word as above and it worked. No more errors!! YAY :banana:

I meant that since the ptr 3.3.5 has been out a long time, they should have already had this fix out.

So why should WE have to do it? Because we don't PAY Carbonite to fix it?

This has left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I'm not going to use Carbonite anymore.

They are as bad as Blizz. Ignore the customers who don't pay extra.

After the update, my errors are off the wall!!
I cant even play the game now. I tried everything. I did a restore of previous versions, install from scratch. Nothing seems to fix the issue.

Although I have to agree with the more polite ways of putting it.....
"PLEASE" fix it.

I keep getting the little window saying that my addons are creating lots of errors and do I want to disable them or ignore.

Oh and carbonite is all I use so IF it is an addon, then I am afraid that yours is the likely canidate. :(

Thanks Vis, this worked. I did make a copy of the Carbonite.lua file first, and there were several places where the ChatFrameEditBox text string appeared.

ummm... no one "pays" for Carbonite anymore. They may "donate" but that is different. I believe that there is only "one" version that everyone uses now versus CarboniteQuest that existed before. However, by all means use that anger to motivate you to learn LUA programming for WoW addons and show them how its done.

The lua errors are 100% a carbonite addon problem!!
 

I too am getting the lua errors 2000 and counting. I tried all the various fixes here to no avail. I will wait for carbonite to release an update with a fix. Just wanted to let all know that this is absolutly, 100%, no doubt about it , a conflict with patch 3.3.5. so be patient and wait for carbonite to release an update. As for me I am not one to fix a problem by "bandaging". It only seems to casue more and more errors down the line... just my two cents, thank you carbonite and keep up the good work....

The search-and-replace suggested above is good for the quick-and-dirty hack, but the idioms in the WoW forum thread should provide more refined behavior.

Just wanted to say thanks. Changed the file and Carbonite is up and running again. I would be lost without it.

As appreciative as I am to the authors of Carbonite for creating one of the best addons for WoW, I am even more so of the community of people who help each other out with quick bug fixes and constant help with problems.

Without people like Vis and Jeffy (and many others), Carb wouldn't have achieved half of its status.

Thank God that for every one person who starts a new thread screaming for a fix NOW, that there are 100 carb users out there who are willing to take up the slack.

To the few that demand a quick fix from the authors themselves; I hope someday you come to realize that the authors of Carbonite (and any other addon) have real lives, with all the problems and frustrations as everyone else. They have bills to pay and mouths to feed, and writing an addon such as Carb is a hobby, not their real-life profession.

Authors of Carb (and every other addon as well) and to the entire community, consider yourselves saluted!

Carbonite.lua is a file, not a folder. The file is located inside the Carbonite folder.

Thanks this fix worked for me. For those that do not know how to fix this , this is how I did fix Carbonite after the patch.
Go to WoW folder open
Interface then
Addons.
Then scroll down and Open the main Carbonite folder (should be first one). Inside look for Carbonite file that is the Lua File (look on right side says type on top) Open this using notepad. When open click the edit button on top , then replace. When box opens , In the Find what section copy paste ChatFrameEditBox in it. In the Replace with section copy/paste ChatFrame1EditBox . Click Apply and you are done. Open WoW and engage Carbonite

These steps worked for me. hope this help. I love the Carbonite Addon.

I too am gettign to following error (same as everyone else):

I have tried the mass repalce since the line numbers did not matchup. That broke it completely. I can watch teh Count start at 1 and it jsut keeps going up. That is what is causing the frame rate issues. The error is continuous and cannot be stopped. 3.3.5 broke something in Carbonite really bad. I have been using since the early days (when you paid for it). I love this program and find questing without it a real pain. Thanks for your attention.

Rofl, no probs Vis. Didn't even know about this post until my guild master pointed it out as he uses Carbonite and nUI and knows I do a lot of work on here rofl.

i think the most major issue is the social windo, due to the changes, i'm thinking u can use majority of carbonite, if u disable the advanced social window till there is a fix, haven't tried it myself, but its what could be causing the errors and frame rate issues, i'll give it a go in a sec, if it helps at all i report back here :)

I've had errors that look to be from carbonite since the last patch dropped too... I do use a lot of addons (or i think a lot though i know some use way more lol) so could be partly a conflict:

I'm certainly not demanding anything be fixed, lol, not that I wouldn't love it to be but the program seems to run alright other'n giving me errors on loading anyhow at least. I think overall carbonite's a great program and know people work hard at doing addons like this so demanding=bad manners and simply letting you know of errors=good to help the program, hehe.

Uninstall and reinstall carbonite, Then only replace it on the two lines in the 18000's as stated above. if it's still broke wipe your carbonite saved variables.

Well i was gonna post up my fix but it seems i was beaten to it
so to confirm, the temp fix works. (changing ChatFrameEditBox to ChatFrame1EditBox)
