JUST the HuD please

is there any way to get Just the nUI HuD for my UI? i love the hud but dont like the lower screen stuff really

spiel2001 10-31-09 03:49 PM

No -- nUI is all one integrated mod.

holden425 10-31-09 05:21 PM

why does it have to be like that?

i have a dream that one day i will have the perfect UI, my dreams are crushed if the nUI hud can not be a part of it. :(

What you have to understand is that nUI is an addon in itself whereby it has multiple functionality all working together. All elements of it are designed to work together and not separately.

If you want a special HUD take a look at some of the ones out there and find one similar. You might get lucky. But the HUD in nUI isn't just a simple hud but an all informative hud based on information the rest of the addon has gathered through its other elements.

You can pretty much make IceHud look and act like nUI's many hud configurations.

the problem i have with icehud is it doesnt provide the detailed buff and debuff information that nUI's does. i love having it right there next to the HP bar so i can see my stacks, my targets stacks, the ToT stacks... tanking in raids really makes it important to keep track of that sort of stuff and i love having it right there next to my character, any other suggestions?

One option is to skin nUI the way you like it. Tho I guess nUI5 isn't that cut out for that really if you want to change the entire layout. (Can be done if you care to edit the layout / lua files I suppose).

nUI6 may or will offer a better way to handle that if I'm not to mistaken.

holden425 11-01-09 06:22 PM

perhaps i can say exactly what im looking for, i am a main tank in a hard mode guild and i love the HuD for its amazing informational ability, the lower screen part of NUI i can handle as well, the main thing i dont like are the buff/debuff frames on the left and right as they take up too much space and are distracting for me in a raid environment, all i really need to see are icons for them, either on the left or the right or top, doesnt matter really where to me

is there a way to consolidate the information on the buff/debuff tabs on either side? or perhaps make it show icons only?

i have the "trial version" of nUI still, i tried to DL the full version but like a nub i didnt follow instructions carefully enough and messed it up for the time being.

Ah, you should be able to find the nUI Aura plugin in the enhancement I believe area. That will turn the lists into buttons from what I recall.

thanks ill give this all a try!

And you can also lower the amount of buffs displayed.
Maybe you feel better when only see 5 to 10 Buffs on the right or left side.

For me its too confusing then, because i cant see any more what buffs are missing then.

ive found in a raid setting this UI just takes up way too much screen space. its so distracting for me to tank with. its just too bad the HuD is so amazing...

i agree , try to pickup the adds on anub 10hc not to say anything about 25hc..

maybe i haven't yet found the scale option yet if it exists but still

make a lightweight raid version fkyea!
make a list of what u u realy need for raiding and scrap the rest.

instead of nUI+ i now offer u nUI-raiding-lite :) fkn pro ^^ (we don't need al that crap for questing ..blabla, need loads of screenspace , clear visibility and the few but neccecary addons all mixed into a sober blend! :)

Well, as I said, you can create a skin for nUI that suits your needs. You should be able to lower the viewport as well I think, so the dash board could be made smaller, unit frames are AFAIK moveable in the code. Will take a lot of work and testing for sure.

Don't really see a reason why Spiel should devote time working on yet another version. Better get nUI v6 ready before patch 3.3 hits, hopfully less time to spend as well on getting nUI v5 working problem free with all the changes. (Guessing we're going to see many more builds breaking add ons)

These are entirely subjective points of personal preference.

However, that said, I have *long* recognized that there is no way to build one UI that will please even a significant minority of players, much less a majority. To that end, I began the process of making nUI fully customizable in nUI5 and nUI6 will realize that entirely... so both minimalists and data whores can both use nUI either by downloading the layout(s) they prefer for their playing style or by creating their own layout. Over time I'll build a suite of built-in layouts as well.

nUI6 will also support hot-swapping layouts while logged in, so you can have a PvP layout, a raiding layout and a questing layout for you toon(s) and switch layout by role during game play.

You can also download someone else's layout, or select one of the ubilt in layouts, then edit it to suite your needs and, if you like, share your layout with everyone else. I also plan on adding a feature to http://www.nUIaddon.com that will allow you to upload you saved variables file to the web site and tell it which layout you want to share and have it parse the layout out of the upload and automatically create a downloadable layout from it that others can use... this means that you don't have to know a thing about Lua or even how to make an addon to be able to share your custom layouts with other players. (note: this feature will not happen until after nUI6 has completed Beta and been publicly released.
