So I got a new grill

Yep got a new grill to go with my smoker. So what should be the first thing I cook this weekend?

That should depend of your cooking level :D

I'd cook a salmon, but if I remember correctly, you live in the middle of the US, so I'd guess fresh salmon are either nonexistent or super expensive for you.

However, hunting season is not that far past, so if you know any hunters who got an elk this year, beg them for some elk ribs. Or elk steaks. Or elk anythings. Eat all the elks. Eat them now.

If that is also not an option, I guess just get a regular steak or something. The secret to steak is salt. Plop it on a plate, salt it to death on both sides and then some, and let it sit there for a few hours. Now dump out all the useless water that's been chased out by the salt, brush off the extra salt (its job is done), sprinkle on some pepper/lemon pepper/garlic powder/whatever you want, and grill it until it's warm in the middle but still pink. Now let it sit on a plate (not the same plate it sat on raw, that's gross!) for 5-10 minutes. Now, and only now, is it ready to eat.

Or, if you're in a hurry, just grill some sausages. No prep, and pretty much impossible to ruin. :p

I'd say a good piece of sirloin and then cook it until its nice and tender. Not as tender as the short loin, but with alot more flavor and as long as you cook it enough the difference is not big imo.

If you don't feel confident enough to do the entire cut, the butcher often makes smaller cuts.

Salmon actually isn't hard to get neither is it expensive. It comes through the Ohio river which gets it flow from the Mississippi so we have access to most salt water fish.

Probably will try the steak though.

Salmon gets my vote as well, or just some regular tenderloin! Unsure if tenderloin is the right word, it's pork atleast! :p

Steak and Chicken shish kabobs with onion & roasted red bell pepper. Keep in mind to make enough to share with all of us. :D

Dolby, what are you doing, interjecting vegetables into this glorious celebration of meat?!

I am about 35 minutes away from you. :)

About the smoker...cook Mac & Cheese in it. I heard it comes out delicious.

It does :) only problem is that you gotta stir it often and you can't leave it in there for long.

I guess I never thought about that. OK, I vote for steak because I have been craving one lately. :)
