Skada Damage Meter Option?

I stop using recount for alittle over a month now and switch to Skada just to try it out. That was a mistake because now I like it waaaay better.

My suggestions is, think maybe we can (unless I'm the only one) get a Skada Damage Meter box intead of the Recount box? Also another threat meter option would be cool also again not a big fan of omen.

Great addon keep it up! :D

Skada is something already being looked at... and I believe it already supports threat does it not?

In addition, I'm in the process of employing threat directly in nUI -- I've already added the driver module for it in the nUI+ PTR Beta and will be implementing it in-game soon.

It does support threat also, and it can be setup to switch between threat when in combat and dps out of combat. Don't ask me how I setup mine though....somehow I stumbled on it, lol

**Edit: I'd also be all for an Infopanel for Skada

One of the nicer options of Skada is that you can define new windows with different meters.. I got 4 at the moment, 1 threat, 1 total damage done, 1 dps and 1 hps (or whatever you call healing).

Started using it with http://www.wowinterface.com/download...reatMeter.html till scott gets the same function back in the hud :-)

Cool I found the threat option Thanks for the help. How I missed it I'm not sure. Crap I am over due for an eye exam... again!!

Yeah I was using simple threat meter for a bit. Only needed a threat meter when with pugs, so I've stopped using it. Buuuuuut now with the patch and all the new stuff I may have to bring it back.

Any news about Skada in nUI in-game release?

Thx

Not yet -- I'm going to try and work on it this weekend as Recount is causing a lot of issues for people these days.

My "temporary" Skada panel

1 Attachment(s)
I made a Skada panel (was in the process of making it fully functional until I read this thread :p ) that can serve as a temporary placeholder until Scott gets his up and running if anyone wants to use it.

This functions a bit like the Carbonite panel plugin, ie- only toggles the Skada window. I stripped the rest of my code out to keep it simple.

Install the panel like any other InfoPanel plugin (in \World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\ directory), make sure it's enabled on the character select screen, enter the game and then switch to the Skada panel. Use the "/skada toggle" command to bring Skada into view (if it disappears for you) then move it in place and resize as needed. It should now toggle whenever you switch back and forth, the exception being if you logout on a panel other than the Skada panel, you'll need to switch to it and toggle Skada manually again before it functions normally.

As stated, I was working on this (slowly) over the past month or so since 3.1 came out, but now that Scott says he'll be doing this himself, I'll hold off and let the master handle it. :)

Hope this helps anyone in the interim though.

PS- If I need to upload this to the InfoPanels section let me know, but since it will be included soon, I figured I wouldn't waste the space.

First... thank you very much for sharing this. Second... I would agree, I can't see a need for you to upload it.

All of you who have been writing code for nUI... I hope you all know how much I appreciate your time and effort... I'm just a lowly author, but a community of people improving on nUI is what will make it excel in the long run.

No problem at all. If you would like me to continue to pursue this as a solution while you work on other fixes and/or features, don't hesitate to ask. I know you have a lot on your plate (and maybe a real life, as well). :)

If I can help out in any other way, please let me know.

Saaaaweeet. Thank you for doing this :D

Well... after much gnashing of teeth, I have broken the secret code that is Skada and will have integration for it in tomorrow's update.

Vis 05-09-09 05:11 PM

Woohoo!! Excellent news

:banana::banana:

Will it work the same as the Recount/Omen default Infopanels do?

spiel2001 05-09-09 06:04 PM

As long as you have Skada installed, nUI will detect it and automatically create two Skada frames inside a single info panel -- each frame is 1/2 the width of the panel.

By default, when first configured, the left frame shows damage when you are out of combat and threat when you are in combat while the right panel shows DPS in and out of combat. Both panels can be reconfigured both in terms of what data the show out of combat and what they show in combat.

As with Omen3 and Recount, the Skada integration is plug and play.

Thought I would put up a couple of screen shots of the Skada integration on my lowbie lock -- first shot is in combat showing threat and DPS, second shot is out of combat showing damage and DPS

.

Vis 05-09-09 06:41 PM

I was skeptical at first about splitting the windows, but the screenshots look very nice. Great job :)

Xrystal 05-09-09 08:54 PM

Yes very nice .. may well switch back to skada .. that look much more in synch with nUI than omen and recount. :D

Although that split screen option is in a way very nice, one of the first and major reasons why i switched to Skada was to be able display threat in combat, and an alternative display out of combat (damage etc.). Would it be possible to add an option to just display one Skada window (which can use the entire info panel width then)?

spiel2001 05-21-09 04:07 AM

The current implementation of Skada in nUI *does* show threat in combat and an alternate display out of combat. The left panel, unless you have changed it, shows damage out of combat and threat in combat. The right panel shows DPS in and out of combat. Now, if you have changed those defaults, then there's nothing I can do about that, but you can change them back if you so desire.

Xrystal 05-21-09 07:57 AM

I can confirm it is very easily changed to handle whatever information you want. Have a healer ? Then change the dps side to healing and the damage side to overhealing.
