Hehe, HUD design

So, in the spirit of me wanting to push my skills further, I present to you, my WIP HUD layout, It's only one bar right now, the target health/player mana bar, however, it was merely for a proof of concept, needless to say, I'm thrilled about the fact that I was able to make it work, and fill properly.
Check the video in xfire ;). http://www.xfire.com/video/c990d/ |
Very nice. Might have to pick your brains one day on how to do it. =)

Here it is with the player and target of target text fixed, I'm tired :D, so no pet/target done yet.
If all goes well, this will be an entire skin package by the way, HUD and all, I may even redo some other textures ;) New bag bar anyone? :D |
Absolutely brilliant :D I'm still racking my brain for ideas ready for when Scott releases the whole layout engine :D

Just a thought... but the two "leaning" tribals with the the two vertical tribals on either side of them is making my CDO itch.
What happens if you rearrange it a bit so there is one large bar for the player with a small vertical bar to its outside for the player's pet/vehicle and then a small gap before repeating the same pairing for the target and ToT... so you get something like this... Code:

You mean something along these lines? I can change to whatever tribal design I want now, honestly, after figuring it out, it's easy as sin, just a matter of changing the overlay to fit the size of the new texture, in any case, let me know if this is what you are going for. After making that second one, I may scrap the first design altogether :D, the poorly scalable tribal design makes it look skewed and distorted. Oh yea, since I may need a little bit more space, this is the proper line to edit right? Code:
options = I was thinking up another idea as well, making one tribal act as both player and pet health, in essence, filling one side, or one half with player health, and the other with pet health, I see it possible in that second render, use the top portion as the player, and bottom as pet. |
Yeah -- the first one was what I was talking about and the second one is really nice.
EDIT: oops... sorry... forgot the other question... that looks like the correct place, yes. And, yeah, once you realize how the HUD bars work, it really is very easy to make happen... you can really get creative with the HUD art. |
mmmm im drooling release soon please

Just for reference, I do have both texted and textless version of the hud packaged already :D, but Spiel sparked some more creativity :D. That sort of M deal, in between them, that may not stay, though, if I can figure out how to make it it's own texture, it can, but if now, I don't want it to be filling with mana/health/focus |
That's nice... note, too, you can make the power bar at the bottom shrink toward the top of the power bar so both bars shrink toward each other in the center of the tribal.
EDIT: You can fix the "M" by making it part of the bar overlay instead of the bar itself... that's how I get the frames around the HUD bars that don't shrink with the bar. |

Nope... just change orient = "BOTTOM" to orient = "TOP" for the bar = {} section of the power bar.
