Lockups when killing a mob/player

Any time I kill something, WoW locks up for a split second. When I turn off Carbonite (even the new 4.012 version), this stops happening.

I'll continue to tweak the settings, but this wasn't happening before, so I assume something is up with the addon.

Thanks.

Sounds like a resource problem -- with WoW taking up more resources now, if you have an older system - add some add ons and Carbonite and the footprint may be big enough to lag a little..

You could always just stop killing things!:D

I am experiencing the same thing. Have lockups with carbonite enabled as only addon in the following situations:

- Accepting quests
- Turning in quests
- Killing quest mobs
- Looting quest items

All other addons are off
All checkboxes in the wow interface objective options are turned off

I am running on a core i7 920 system with 6GB of mem, so it's not an "older system" problem...

I am having this aswell, though it only started when I upgraded to 4.012.

roman345 10-25-10 12:03 AM

I have the same problem.

cold_steel90 10-25-10 01:51 AM

Yeah same problem here, and from the same symptoms as a few posts before mine. 4GB RAM, 1GB GPU, 2.4GHZ dual core...

Found an issue with choppy behavior while questing.

Ok just did some reading up on recent issues lately, and one thing that i have discovered is... Even running version 4.0000012~, tracking achievements is once again making for choppy behavior after finishing the slightest bit of anything to do with quests. Haven't looked at anything else but quest completions, since that is all I'm doing at the moment. =D

Since several of you are having the problem and I don't know the differences in your addons and versions, I will dish out some generic info.

4.012 had this fix:

Fixed FPS drop when tracking achievements and Quest Watch List item buttons shown.

I did not experience the lag. I only had a 10 FPS drop while tracking achievements, which was not noticeable just playing.

Try:
1 Check the Carbonite version shown in the addon list. Make sure it says 4.012.
2 Disable all other addons.
3 Test
4 Test with no achievements being watched

version 4.012

With Achievements watched the horrible lag accepting/quitting quests
Without Achievements watched No lag.

Try watching long lists like well read, glory of the hero where not all items are displayed. Its not very noticeable on simple yes/no/count achievements

This is with the carbonite "Show tracked achievements" UN-checked. So its using blizzards frame.

Turning off all achievement tracking also cleared this up for me, thanks for the tip! :)

roman345 10-28-10 01:34 PM

I still have the problem, and off the achievements. :(

dabeetle 10-29-10 05:07 AM

Over here it's currently depending on the number of achievements. With 3 achievements tracked no problems, but when tracking more achievements lots of lag and even small freezes when turning in quests.

Tested with Carb only, and with all Addons enabled.

My lockups are gone when I remove any tracked achievements.

Yes, I also found that to be true. I was using long lists to test.

I'm looking at it again. I will try to track as much as possible and see what happens.

Removing multiple tracking achievements worked for me as well. Please let me know once that function is available again. :)

I found the problem. The quest map scanner was triggering over a hundred Blizzard watch list updates when a quest changed, which if watching many achievements is slow. I fixed it and another piece of map code that was triggering 5 updates once every 10 seconds.

These will be in 4.013, which I will probably be testing and releasing late tonight.

carboniteaddon 11-01-10 02:37 AM

4.013 is released. Let me know if that fixes it.
