This computer is Totally nuts anyone wanna give me the $30,000+ for it?

Selite 07-24-09 05:47 AM

Yeah, I saw that in this (August, even though that's next month...) month's PCPP, there's at least 13 grand worth of useless stuff in there (Projector), although the keyboard is so sexy, it makes up for it. :)

The Beastie is more in my price range, and I really should be focusing on my studies rather than playing WoW & coding addons on a 30" screen/my wall, as final exams are in some 2 months. T_T

good luck with that, that scan is from PCPP, that mag is right next to me :D

Take out that POS Creative sound card and put in one from AuzenTech, and it might be worth it.

Or M-Audio. Or, well, basically anything aside from Creative.

I believe that is mineral oil, it's non-conductive. All components are exposed and there is no special treatment or coating on any of the parts.
You can do this yourself if you want to be advantageous, several gallons of the oil in a fish tank and dunk in the assembled motherboard and you have basically the same thing.
And as far as I know, it doesn't cool any better than a very good heatsink and fan from thermaltake or other companies.

Here are some guys who tried it.

This computer store here in Washington has had a submerged computer since 2007, and have given online updates since then.

Now if only we could find some fish which will survive in mineral oil.... Someone call the biologists.

Do the fans just push the water then?

Not water... mineral oil ;) Read the site from the link I gave. It explains everything in very good detail.

Wish my daughter was as polite as you are hehe. No clue where she gets her oneryness from :D

Cralor 07-25-09 03:13 PM

What's oneryness? And was I really that polite? :D

Ornery means stubborn lol. Yes, you are always polite.... at least that's the way I always see your posts. :)

I see I misspelled it in my original post. Ornery. People used the word all the time when I lived on the east coast... not so much though on the west coast.. so I think it's more of a southern word hehe.

Cralor 07-25-09 03:25 PM

Ah, okay. Orneryness. I was just giving you a hard time. ;) It seems like everyone lives on the West Coast while I am living on the East Coast. Makes raiding hard. :(

/hugs

Oh I dunno about that lol. Our guild raids at 8am PDT on Saturdays.. which means I have to be up at 7:30am. I am so not a morning person! The good side to that is... everyone has had a good nights sleep, we wake up and eat Bfast, and head in to raid nice and refreshed :p We've found that we wipe less often, and are less cranky as opposed to raiding in the evening when everyone is tired and irritable hehe.

Sorry, getting way off topic here lol.

Seerah 07-25-09 10:45 PM

I'd be cranky if I had to get up at 7:30 and raid at 8:am..... :p
