Wootbit Client 0.2 beta

Just wanted to let the wowinterface community know that Wootbit Client 0.2 beta is released today. I've submitted it to wowinterface.com, in the mean time you can also get it from www.wootbit.com. If you are running 0.1 alpha, then you should get a popup from the website that informs you of the new version as well and you can follow the prompts to get updated.

I really want to thank the wowinterface community for all their feedback and support, and I really hope you find this new release of the tool useful.

The major feature for 0.2 beta is a web service that helps keep you informed of updates to any addons you have installed. This web service is a community effort. If you opt in, then wootbit client will automatically upload info about the addons you have installed, their version numbers, and the URLs where you downloaded them to the web service. The web service maintains a database of the unique addon submissions and when a new version is available, it makes this information available to all users that have opted in to the web service. So it basically just allows users of wootbit client to conveniently and automatically share links and updates.

The service also knows about the current WoW interface version, and if you have an addon installed for an older version of WoW it will also display that addon as out-of-date.

There are lots of other features in this release, here is a quick summary of the major points:

- Locally tracks the download URL for all addons you install, so you can quickly get back to the page to look for updates. (this works even if you do NOT opt-in to the web service)

- Improved code for detecting your WoW installation

- Support for detecting your WoW installation managed by the new Battle.net desktop app

- You can manually override the location of your WoW installation, for example if the code fails to detect the location correctly or if you have more than one installation.

Thanks for reading, feel free to ask questions or give your feedback.
